Well I wouldve posted our conversation but my computer crashed when I pasted it here and now I have to start my post over!

My friend in the grade below me just met a few days before school ended but weve been talking on AIM. Well we talked and talked and one day he told me his dogs were breeding in the backyard (he of course said it more immaturely but I didnt want to put it that way  ) I asked him why his dogs werent fixed and he said he "didnt want to take away their manhood" GRRR!!! I swear we were argueing for hours. I asked what would happen to the puppies and he said "Die?"   He signed off then came back on so I kind of ignored what he said and asked again. He said he would find homes for them like he did before. I was in shock. This had happened before! I kind of lectured him about how dogs are dying in shelters because of people adding to the population so he kept saying "Look I never killed any dogs, ok!" We still talk now but Im really pissed by his additude towards all this. Its only going to happen again and again.

What are some possible ways to convince him into getting them fixed, or convincing him to convince his parents? Theyre Asian so I dont know if theyre against it or what but they dont want to...

I assum that you already told hime the
Reasons to Spay or Neuter your Dog:

* Spaying/Neutering reduces your dogs "need" to roam.

* It reduces or eliminates certain reproductive cancers.

* Spaying disburdens the female dog of the heat cycle and all other discomforts that accompany it.

* It lessens a dog's need for dominance.

* A dog's lifespan is increased if they are spayed/neutered.
* Spaying/neutering eliminates the owner's concern of unwanted puppies, runaway stud dogs, stained furniture, and nervous and agressive mood swings in pets.

and lastly,

* It relieves the community of homeless dogs and property damage.

Since that doesn't seem to get through to him suggest taking him to a shelter to see what goes on there or show this little film. If he can get through this film and still have the same attitude then unfortunately you have done all you can.

Some people just need an education, and then again some people just don't want to listen. All you can do is try talk to him and explain why the dog should be castrated and as Court says pictures can sometimes be shocking . I wish you luck because I know what dealing with ignorant people is like

While its all warm and fuzzy to say that you shouldnt breed and think of all those pets behind bars and blah blah.....
Just how many of you got ALL your pets from a rescue???
GOOD for you that did!
Otherwise shut up!

Please do tell your friend the dangers of testicular cancer! That should change his mind really quickly. As for being Asian. My brother in law is Asian and his animals (That I have known over the last 10 years) have all been fixed and he was the first to mention it.

All of mine came from a shelter. Where did yours come from? Of course you don't have the guts to register and posts such idiotic comments.

one came from a shelter, one came as a rescue as a puppy, BEFORE she would have ended up in a shelter. Many of her littermates did.

lose the attitude, ok? The post was about trying to teach someone to NOT
contribute to ever burdening problem of shelter dogs, not a stance on WHERE you shoulod get your dog.

What bridge did YOU crawl out from under?

here crazy...print this out and give it your friend. Maybe he'll see the more emotional side of it. I wrote it, so it's ok...

Christmas is Coming…

Christmas is coming, it's that time of year,
where everyone offers each other good cheer.
Where presents are opened from under the tree,
Children are smiling, and people are happy...

But not far away, in 'most every space,
are pets gotten rid of, unwanted, displaced.
Their sad little faces stare out from a crate,
They don't understand why their owners are late.

They don't understand why they're in here at all,
they patiently wait for their people to call.
The call doesn't come, as the lights are shut down,
They don't understand, they just want to go home.

So this year for Christmas my wishes will be
that each of these creatures will get to be free.
To go home with someone who'll love them at last,
and give them a chance to forget their sad past.

And me, as I write this, I look at my two...
the scared silly Foxhound, my Lab/Pointer too.
And I think of how lonely my own life would be,
If for some reason they were gone from me.

I give them both hugs and then call the old cat...
who of course doesn't answer, gee, imagine that!

I tell them I love them, and I always will.
I'll feed them, and keep them, from winters cold chill.
and I promise them that they will never perceive
the inside of a shelter on MY Christmas Eve!!
