Need some help regarding clothing!

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, I need some help here. I wanted to get Dex some type of sweater. Unfortunately I have not found anything good for him. My girlfriend and I bought a couple sweaters, but they dont fit him properly. His chest is too broad for the sweaters I bought. Anyone know of any good websites that have clothing for larger dogs? Thanks for any replies!
Have you ever done clothes for your two yourself? ;-)
I think that's the best way actually.
I made one for Bella from a sleaf and I've made a cloak for Ben from jeans. And it's not that difficult. Want to see pics? ;-)
I wold LOVE to see some pics. Crested, I thought about you the other day. There is a breeder in Arizona who has done some wonderful things with Akitas. Their Akitas are spectacular. Guess what they also breed... You got it, Chinese Cresteds! Here is a link if you want to see some pics of their cresteds.

Hello!
I got a great address, the only problem is ... it's in Europe/Germany, but have a look at their HP, it's also in English. I know that they ship all over the world. They have great suits for all kinds of dogs and they are made according to the dog's measurements and you can choose the colours too. Perhaps it's that kind of suits you are looking for. Let me know.

Ok... here are pics of the ones I've done so far...

This I made from two types of jeans for Ben and I'm planning on making another one for Bella with a bit of gold paint, glitter and "glamour" as she's a girl, you know! ;-)

and this I made for Bella...

another pic of it. That I made from a sleaf. It was just a quicky as I needed to make something new for her as the ones I got to borrow from her breeder became too small. In the next couple days I'm going to do the jeans one and if I get something warm and more elastic then that yellow fabric, then I'm going to do it to match the jeans one. This way I can put them both on top of eachother and then get it even more warm.

Oh, do you want to see the hat my mom made for them??

 • 2 weeks later...

Petedge.com has some nice coats, We have a couple from there for both Goo (scrawny bully) and Haley (pudgy little pink pig), and they fit well, plus are pretty well made and didn't cost an arm and a leg.

Here's Goo in her manly plaid coat (which didn't look nearly as manly on the curly coated model dog, lol)

They both have parkas from there too, though Goo's is a size too large, big even on Haley (Goo wearing Haley's in this pic, which is the right size)

I'd imagine that it doesn't get really cold where you are, so just a light fleece or some such fabric should do the job. You could probably go to a fabric store and get fabric to make a simple coat. One pattern I can think of that's easy enough and seems to not restrict movement is a horse blanket type coat, either with straps across the fornt and under the belly, or just cut the fabric so that there are straps and add velcro (if that makes any sense at all).

You could also just buy a couple kids' sweatshirts and alter them in whatever way needed to make them fit.

I actually saw them in a shop over here and they look really cool. They would be perfect for the manly dog - not wussy looking at all

roxy wears a hooded toddler sweatshirt from old navy!! i really like it because not only is it so gosh darn cute, but the sleeves protect her front legs and, if sized right, it will accomodate her large bully chest while remaining snug and keeping out the cold. and everyone who sees her in it just flips....i'll post a pic.
