danger of drug rimadyl, carprofen

my pug recently underwent knee surgery, she only survived 2 wks and died suddenly from what i believe to have been a serious reaction to the drug rimadyl, carprofen, which is commonly prescribed as an anti-inflammatory and pain med. please don't use casually on your dog without asking many, specific questions as to it's danger, or better yet, request a different med. i hope this helps save at least one other dog, it is not uncommon for labs to react to it according to pfizers own literature.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Thanks for sharing your story in order to make others more aware. It's really quite scary that we can't trust everything our vets give us these days. They are supposed to be the experts - right?
