Angelboddy Posted August 18, 2003 Posted August 18, 2003 This is sad. Well, yesterday at this meeting that I go to. My friend was telling me that he has to get rid of his APBT. Now if any of you remember.......This was the meeting that we use to be able to take our dogs to. Intell someone said something about how scary his APBT was. His baby girl would not hurt anyone. :( Well anyways...........I told him that I would take him til he found better living situations, but his dog does not like other female dogs. :( So now this poor APBT is going to be left without a home if he can not find somewhere for her. :( She is such a pretty girl, she is all black and thinks she is a lap dog. I wish there was something I could do for them. :( Quote
Angelboddy Posted August 18, 2003 Author Posted August 18, 2003 It's his living situations. The lady friend(yah right  ) that he is living with is getting a pup for her son and said he must get rid of brandy because she is affraid of Brandy hurting the pup. Little Brandy would never hurt a pup. She just does not like other female dogs. But thats understandable for a APBT. Well, he already has to keep her in the garage, because his roommate is scared that Brandy might do something. This poor dog is going through hell! :x She use to be housebroken, but now since she has to be in the grarage she is no longer. :( He takes her everywhere with him, when-ever possiable. But he is going to move out, and till he comes up with enough money to get his own place, he has got to live at a motel with another friend. And you know that a motel would frown on a APBT being there. I don't have any pictures of her, I wish I did. :( Quote
Aonir Posted August 18, 2003 Posted August 18, 2003 That is so sad that she has to go through that. I think getting a puppy and getting rid of the dog is just mean! :( Quote
DogPaddle Posted August 18, 2003 Posted August 18, 2003 The Humane Society here offers boarding and considerably reduced costs when available for people who will be hospitalized, incarcerated or something like that. I'm not sure if your freind would qualify or not or if your SPCA offers the same. Its not ideal but the general idea was to keep dogs with their owners whenever possible so they would not be taking up adoptive homes when they only needed temprory housing. Maybe you could suggest it to your SPCA if they are a shelter that freqently has open kennels. Quote
mydogroxy Posted August 18, 2003 Posted August 18, 2003 this kind of crap makes me thoroughly enraged! what kind of a person makes someone give up their own pet so they can get one? i hate how people think animals are disposable. would she make him give up a child if she were to get pregnant? i bet not. i'm so disgusted. (some motels do allow pets to stay with them. perhaps during they stay she could be a "staffy" or a "ridgeback"....most people wouldn't know a pit bull if it walked right past them) Quote
ellieangel Posted August 18, 2003 Posted August 18, 2003 Ditch the 'lady friend' keep the pit..........perfect :evilbat: Quote
Angelboddy Posted August 18, 2003 Author Posted August 18, 2003
Ditch the 'lady friend' keep the pit..........perfect :evilbat:
That is kinda what he is doing. :-? He is moving out of her house because of all the crap she keeps on giving him about brandy. But now it's the whole motel thing that stands in his way. He would have to leave Brandy their during the day, alone. And motels don't agree with that. I think he just wants to find someone to watch her for a month till he gets situated. But he has nobody. :( At least nobody that he can trust with Brandy. :-? Quote
ellieangel Posted August 18, 2003 Posted August 18, 2003 I would try ringing round the shelters, one of them must be able to help him surely :( Quote
Rowie-the-Pooh Posted August 18, 2003 Posted August 18, 2003 Aww, poor Pittie! What a horrible "ladyfriend"! Dogs are not little dolls or playthings that can just be thrown away when bored with. A pet is for life! I really hopethe pit finds a home soon! Angel you are true to your name! You truly are an angel offering a temporary home for Brandy! You go girl! Maybe if your friend tells the motel that he will crate his "Staffie" or "Ridgeback" while out or unsupervised they will be able to accept the dog ino the motel? :-? Quote
Angelboddy Posted August 19, 2003 Author Posted August 19, 2003 Thanks for everyones help. I will call the shelters today and see what they maybe able to do. And if they can't do anything, then I will have him call the motel and see about cratting Brandy. :D Thanks again. :D Quote
Rowie-the-Pooh Posted August 19, 2003 Posted August 19, 2003 Most welcome angel! Any updates? :D Quote

courtnek Posted August 20, 2003 Posted August 20, 2003
Ditch the 'lady friend' keep the pit..........perfect
That's what happened to Alex - the abusive boyfriend moved in and decided the dog had to go....He was lucky my son was there, and I'm a sucker for a hard luck case.... I really hope everything works out well for Brandy. DEFINITELY ditch the so-called "ladyfriend" - she's no friend, obviously Quote
