Carolk9s
I got off work early and stopped to get some Chinese takeout on the way home. Come on home, get changed, get a plate of food. Carry it out to the living room, sit in my chair. Jesse is looking at me from behind another chair, I said come on over here sweetie and lie down beside me. He walks over then stops and cocks his head, looks at the rug, looks at me, looks at the rug again. I look, oh darn did someone upchuck? Upon closer inspection oh GAWD its the remnants of a small bird! And I do mean remnants. Suddenly my plate of Sesame Chicken aint so appealing anymore. How I missed it coming in I don't know but Jesse clearly was pointing it out to me. I'm thinking, who kissed me when I came in? The only one fast enough to even think of catching a bird is Candy unless it simply fell from a nest into the yard.
Angelboddy
Oh the poor baby bird. :( He must have felt upset of what he did. Poor Jesse. :(
behle
He is a good boy to show you the mess on the rug. :D
Carolk9s
Oh the poor baby bird. :( He must have felt upset of what he did. Poor Jesse. :(
Dogs do not feel upset about such, also I seriously doubt Jesse was the one who either caught the bird or even found it. He's too old and slow for that! 8) Jesse was probably as disgusted as I was. Probably was Candy, she chases birds out of HER yard every chance she gets and will even run along and bark at those in flight. There is a nest in a tree that overhangs my yard. I am wondering if A. a baby fell out or B. the neighbors cat that roams the neighborhood perhaps caught and killed one then was chased by the dogs. Angelboddy
I am so sorry. I must have miss read it. Well Jesse sounds like a great dog for pointing out the mess. :D I hope you were still able to eat your food. Chinese food is way to good to miss out on.
courtnek
I do feel sorry for the bird, but dont be mad at the dog. This is instinct, they cant get around it....If the bird was trying to escape, a dog will chase anything that runs. Freebee caught a mouse in the yard the other day. It just kinda goes with the territory of owning a dog.... :)
Rowie-the-Pooh
I agree, it's the circle of life! Rowie once caught a pigeon INFRONT OF ME! :o It was sick! And the poor thing was in so much pain, but I didn't want to dissapoint Rowie and take away her kill or anything! The pigeon (dead by the way) stayed with us for a week. Yes, the stech was horrible! Then Rowie managed to eat it all.... :-? The poor baby bird! I once caught a baby bird that was really sick. It was on the ground barely alive, I kept it warm, gave it my budgie's food, and water, and loads of love. It still died the next day.... That's the way it is.... animals live, animals die! Jesse was a good boy to point him out for you! :D
Carolk9s
I guess I need to put a sign up by the doggie door, DEAD THINGS ARE TO STAY OUTSIDE 8) Candy caught a mouse once out back, she played with it for a bit before I caught on and took it away from her. I did NOT want to wake up to a dead mouse in the bed with us.
Sanvean
Yuck! Once, when I lived at home, one of our kitties brought in a mouse that was still alive. (It was my fault -- I let her in without looking too closely.) My parents were SO furious!
