Do you have a training club around you? An AKC sanctioned type club? That would really help. That's what I belong to. I pay a yearly fee ($100) and I can go to as many classes as I want to with as many dogs as I want to. They have Obedience, Rally, Agility, Flyball, and conformation.

I know that's the AKC's reasoning behind it as well.[/quote] You got it....and a dog that HERDS is a lot different from a dog that PROTECTS the flock. Take for example a Kuvasz or a Komondor. They are white because they are a guardian. Not a herder. But don't knock the white GSD too much.....you'll hurt Dakota's feelings! :D

Not too sure of anyone who has a Chinese Crested. But give it time....I'm sure they will be the new fad dog and all since they are starting to show up in commercials and in movies more often now. John Kerry has a GSD.

I love my vinyl fence. But it is not a privacy fence. We put up a four rail split. But we knew we wanted vinyl anyway. Yes, it is more expensive, but you do not have to stain it yearly or keep up maintence on it at all. In Ohio, it gets so wet and humid that wood just warps to all heck here. So we knew wood was out of the question.

Oddly enough, they are about 40 minutes away from me. So Jer and I were invited to stop on by anytime we wanted to. She seems very nice. She told us to come on over and play with everyone since we lived so close to her. Might just do that!!

I'm an Oreck fan through and through. I LOVE my Oreck! And it's sooooo light!! Dang.....I can whip that thing all over the house.

I just spoke with the breeder where we got our GSDs from. She says she knows of these dogs and the lineage is great. She says they are very nice people. I will eat my words and stand corrected. And....I will also email them and ask a few questions as now my interest is peaked!

Hillside hit it on the nail for me! I'd go for a Pug/Boston/Frenchie over any of those dogs. MinPins, CCs, Maltese and the like are pretty fragile dogs.

Very emotionally attached is an understatement. They really pick out one person in the family and stick to them like glue. I have two naked shadows that follow me around like it's their job. When they are on my lap, the other dogs cannot come near me. They wo'nt have it! We had them out one day and had to run into the supermarket. So Jeremy stayed in the car with them. Well, I came out of the store and I could hear them screaming. Speaking of screaming.....they do sing! I call it singing.....most people (non CC owners) call it screaming!! It's really funny. Espeically when they all start....then they get the shepherds howling. Our neighbors love us!! A pretty delicate breed. So not a lot of rough housing. They are difficult to potty train. Most owners always have pee pads out for them. Skin issues are a whole other topic! If you want more....please feel free to PM me! Someone once told me that rescuing is the 'sweetest heartache you will ever know' I loved it.....and I live it. It's what keeps you going. Knowing how much you have helped one....and now, you have the room in your home and heart to help another. To show another what it is like to be loved and wanted.

Tater has been debarked. But so are a lot of puppy mill dogs. His bark is still loud....just VERY raspy. Almost a choking sound.
