1. Ixey! You never post here. Glad to see you back. :D I don't have great pics, but oh well. http://photobucket.com/albums/v505/spiralcide/Dogs/
 2. Thats.... stupid. Really come on now. Taken from the site: "Just as forced sterilization isn't the answer for human population control, it's not the solution for dogs. Instead, we should respect dogs' rights as living beings by honoring their instincts and sexuality and provide them with safe, effective birth control." Dogs are not humans, they know know nor care what they're missing. Dogs mate to reproduce, and nothing more.
 3. Halti is a brand of head halter, that acts like a horse halter. And it wouldn't make sense that it would really help with pulling. If you think about it a dogs body is going to be stronger then its neck isn't it? So it seems (and it was from personal experience) that it would make pulling worse, not better. You asked for input, and I gave you mine. It didn't help. My GSD had never been on a leash before (rescue) and the halti did wonders for her.
 4. I had one of those for my GSD and it didn't help with pulling at all, in fact it made it worse. I suggest a halti if you want him to stop.
check ur pm's goo. I'm trying to sound desperate just that I want to know b4 i go to petco this weeken kwim? Neway thanks for the help.
What's "kwim"?
 5.
Oh my goodness how gorgeous is Avery! :D
I agree! I'm in love! Thats one pretty puppy! Oh I'd like to add, I fully support rescue. The only reason I'm buying from a breeder is because I plan to show/work the dog. If you only want a companion, I suggest a rescue. http://www.workingpitbull.com/availabledogs.htm Look at those gorgeous fawn puppies!
 6.
I read through the thread and it seems as though a lot of people are encouraging her NOT to breed, and one persistent asshole keeps arguing that she should breed.
There is a couple, but its not really doing any good. The more people who voice opinions, the better. The people are me, one is a person I asked to check it out (Phez) and one other. So so REALLY many.
 7. I heard another one about a pom that tore through a kids playpen and mauled the child, who ended up dying. Might as well ban all breeds, since they can all be dangerous.
 8. I don't think theres anything wrong with supporting a good breeder. I'm looking for a good APBT breeder myself. Two breeders I like are RokiReds and Matrix Kennels. They have gorgeous dogs and both health test. http://www.rokireds.com/ http://www.matrixkennels.com/ I did come accross a good breeder located in Texas the other day, let me see if I can find them again.
 9. Okay I don't like doing this but I need your guys help. This person wants to breed their mutts on another forum. There's people not only supporting them but giving the person horrible advice. Like waiting too long to breed (over two) causes too many hormones in the bitch which leads to more problems. So we end up with a BYB breeding a dog way too young! She refuses to listen to me or other others, maybe if we get a few more opinions? It would be great if you gusy could help, usually its a good forum that dosn't support bad breeding but no one else seems to be helping this time around. :x http://www.petshub.com/forums/showthread.php?t=33357&page=1&pp=15 Link to the thread, thanks guys!
 10.
I think hunting is cruel. We already have our meat, and hunting for sport is a horrible practice. That's just my opinion. I would never use my dog for anything except a companion.
Hunting for sport IS cruel. But people here have said that they use as much as the animal as they can. That's not sport hunting. Where your meat comes from is a million times more cruel then a quick death for an animal who's lived freely its whole life.
 11. Sorry off topic. Did you used to think Ford was a female? I swear I remember him being a "her". Or am I going nuts again?
 12. I posted that once before on here but its still sad. :(
 13.
I do think that some APBT are conditioned to the extreme. If those dogs were human and working out like that to be so thin and muscular theyd probably think you were anorexic or soemthing. :o Rebels Red Ace was a little too thin for my liking. :-? Tessa however was conditioned but not excessively. Her body is in perfect condition IMO. ...uh LC did you see my previous post? I had asked you a question. Just wondering since you havent replied yet.
You can't compare a human and a dog that way, in humans you shouldn't see any ribs, but in dogs a couple is okay. Plus anorexics have no muscle mass either. No I actually didn't see your post! Must have skimmed too fast. What do you consider gramebred? Cold Steel has some fighting dogs in their dogs pedigrees, but I'm pretty sure they don't game test. CD dosn't fight their dogs either, but I believe Lady Hawke was purchased from someone who did. So she would be considered gamebred wouldn't she? But if your looking at it that way then, every APBT would be called gamebred because no matter how far back they all have fighting dogs in their pedigree's. And I didn't say i'd be buying a gamebred dog, I said I'd like to find a dog with sctructure like CD pits.
 14. Theres absolutely no shortage of cute mutts in the shelter, why pay a rediculous price? Also with a designer breed your giving your money and supporting cruelty in a mill or bad breeding, why not save an animal?
 15. Even my pit mix girl has natural muscle, after not walking for 5 days cause of her injury she still looks like this:
 16. So we are on the same page. Personally I like a lean dog, but I'm not a fan of huge muscles.
 17. APBT's are naturally a muscly breed. With not too much conditioning a dog can easily look like that. And I doubt that staff could keep up with a well conditioned APBT. CD dogs are in excellent condition without the extreme muscles.
 18.
The Westminster winner is not "squishy", he is solid...just not excessively conditioned--which any dog could be, including my Dachshund. She's talking about it be a flaw in the breed, it's not. Added: Lol, I'm obviously not seeing how an abnormally (meaning not normal) conditioned dog makes the dog better. There's much more to a well/properly bred dog than muscle, again which any dog is able to get.
No one's saying the dog is better, just in much better shape. Are you trying to say a dog that most likely dosn't do much excercise is a normal conditioned dog, but a dog thats WORKS and is in great shape is abnormal? That dog probably couldn't do a full days work.
 19.
So, I could purchase any old Pit and work it like mad and that's a good dog--a better bred dog?! With all the talk we (dogos) do about what it takes to produce a good dog, I'm in shock.
I don't think ANYONE was implying that.
 20.

:o I'm sorry, that's not true. AKC Am Staffs tend to be more massive in bone, but in no way is what you claim true. "Squishy"...you couldn't place with a "squishy" Chihuahua or Pekingese, let alone an Am Staff. Nobody in their right mind would show a "squishy" dog. And, if you're refering to 'pet' Am Staffs...who cares if some may be squishy....not everyone conditions their dogs, that isn't a flaw with the breed. As for the running, false as well.
...the majority of AKC Am Staffs are big and "squishy"(as i like to call em..) and probably couldnt run a mile without passing out...

by "squishy" i didnt mean overweight. i just mean bigger, more lip, bigger heads, heavier boned, etc.
I have to agree. This dog was the 2005 westminster best of breed AmStaff. [img]http://www.westminsterkennelclub.org/2005/photos/breed/RM30768710.jpg[/img] You can't actually tell me the dog above could look like this: ADBA "GR CH I" ADBA ACE" Rebels Red Ace" DNA-p, TT And Odnarb, Grant is stunning, I'd snatch up a dog like him any day.
 21. I swear I replied to this! My post dissppeared into cyber space. :x If you can't afford to take her to the vet theres no way you can afford puppies, as well as any problems during the birth or with the pups. I suggest you get her spayed NOW. Humane Societies and shelters often have low cost spay and neuters.
 22. I really don't think I was getting defensive was I? Dani I do appreciate the advice, and you may know a lot more then me, but no offence but I have no idea who you are. Obviously other people do, but when you started posting I didn't know that. I'm sure you wouldn't take the advice of someone when you not only don't know them but don't know if they own pit bulls or chihuahua's. I appreciate the people who've said they think I'd make a good APBT owner, I hope I can prove you right. But how am I going to do that without experience? If the worst comes to worst, I have a great dog with an awesome temperament around people, I just have to keep her seperated from other animals. That dosn't sound too bad to me.
 23. Dani, I do appreciate the fact that your trying to help me out. I have lots of time to decide whether I can truely handle a a dog like this or not.
If it doesn't work out, she could spend the rest of her life playing musical rooms with her OWN dogs.
I do this now with Chaos and my border collie Riley. They're always supervised, and Riley is either crated or in the basement when they cannot be.
That's never fun, and something that not everyone takes into consideration when that cute lil puppy shows up, or they see a stunning dog on a website.
Yes, I have been looking at websites. Because I'm looking for a dog that I like, then I can look into the breeder. I'm not going to see a pretty dog and go out and get one because the dog or puppy is cute. Again you're assuming.
What if something BAD happens? A broken crate? A chewed through door. Will she still be so gung-ho about getting a "gamebred" dog if she ends up with a dog too hot to ever do dog sports, and when she is stuck shuffling dogs from room to room for 15 years?
The point of getting my dog wasn't only to do sports. The dog would be first and foremost a companion, and probably my only one until she's no longer with me.
As a responsible pit bull owner i make it my job to bring these things up to potential owners. Not everyone thinks of these things when they have dreams of beating border collies with their fast lil "pit".
If all I wanted to do was beat border collies, I'd get another breed thats suited for agility. I don't have "dreams of beating border collies", like I stated I want this dog as a COMPANION. Even if it means keeping her seperate from other dogs for life and not competing. I chose this breed because of their wonderful temperaments, and the fact that they'll do anything and not give up. If I had chosen another breed, most likely it would be a working bred GSD or Malinois and I'd be getting into Schutzhund or French Ring. Thanks Kendalyn and Hmmm too.
 24. Thats why I'm looking for a job and starting to save up now. Even if I have to take the bus and survive on Kraft Dinner and Raman noodles, the dog'll come first. If I feel at the time I can't afford a dog, I'll wait a couple more years. But I still think its best to start researching as early as possible. I'm actually hoping to get out of Canada altogether. British Columbia I think is also thinking of BSL. As well as Alberta. I have a feeling it's going to spread unfortunately, so I'd like to get as far away as possible.
 25. The only problem is I couldn't take the risk of my pup being killed. Otherwise I probably would.
