I took Jackie and Maya over to meet Pooh Bear at his foster home, and they all got along just great! They had fun playing, and there was no aggression at all with any of them. Pooh Bear is very submissive, so he just rolls over on his back if he's had enough. He's just adorable! He's very lovable. When I was filling out the paperwork, he came over and jumped up on the chair next to me and leaned into me. He's very affectionate. He was affectionate with the girls too! He was grooming Jackie and licking her ear and was kissing Maya. I'm going to bring him home tomorrow. I need to buy a big crate and puppy proof the house today. He's 14 months old and is still in the furniture chewing stage if left alone. I'm posting pictures of the three of them on the Pictures thread. I'm so excited! His foster mom usually calls him Bear, so that's what I'll call him. I think it's a cute name.

I just left a message with the rescue shelter saying that I want to meet Pooh Bear and see if he will fit in with my family! So hopefully I'll meet him today or tomorrow. I'll go meet him alone first, and then I'll bring the girls to meet him. -
Update on puppy (with pics of course!)
JackieMaya replied to Aroura's topic in Everything about dogs
Well he is 100% natural and will stay that way! Actually, now that I'm used to the tail I love it and wouldn't have it any other way - it's too cute! Same with the ears, although cropping is illegal here, I don't know how anyone could bring home a smooshy little puppy and chop off its ears! Why cut off one of the best bits? He's so precious
I wish more people felt like you do! I love to see dogs in their natural state. He is the cutest puppy! I just love him! Please continue taking LOTS of pictures! -
Thank Dog for people like you who foster dogs so they can have a second chance at life! You da bomb!

I don't know if I'll be able to wait until the adoption fair on April 9. I might end up calling before that. Then I could go see him at his foster home, which would really be better than meeting him at Petco for the first time. And I think I've found a dog/house sitter too, so I won't have to pay the big bucks to keep my dogs at the kennel when I go out of town. Walking the 3 dogs wouldn't be a problem either, because Jackie and Maya walk great together, so I could have them on one side and PoohBear on the other side. See? I'm starting to talk myself into it (not that it's a hard thing to do). -

Look how much he looks like Jackie. Here's a picture of Jackie on her dog bed where she's posed in pretty much the same position as Pooh Bear. I think my family (who live in other states than me, by the way) would have me committed if I got another dog. But they thought I was crazy to get a second dog when I just had Jackie. And after I got Maya, they said it was great that I got her. The fact that he's been there for so long must mean he's supposed to be with me. Right? Maybe my screen name will end up being JackieMayaPooh! LOL -
K is right! That's a big accomplishment for a big boy! Geez, look at the size of his legs! He's going to be huge! It'll be fun to watch him grow up. Congratulations!

Remember Pooh Bear? He's the Australian Shepherd mix who has been at the rescue shelter I adopted Jackie and Maya from for quite a while. He's a year old, and he's looking more like Jackie all the time! Look at the new pictures of him! He sounds like a wonderful dog, but I just don't think I have the time to devote to 3 dogs AND a horse (who lives elsewhere). It would be ridiculous for me to get another dog. That would just give me one more reason to stay home! But I just LOVE him! Here's what they say about him:
Notes: Pooh Bear is a 12 month old neutered male Australian shepherd mix. He has a fluffy black and tan coat that will need regular brushing. Weighs about 50#. Pooh is as sweet as a dog can be!!! He is still very much a pup, and will need a bunch of his own chew toys
what about a ban against ingorant people?????

Why the heck were these children playing catch infront of a huge mixed breed dog? Awww, poor baby! it's amazing sometimes the ways dogs can hurt themselves, and they NEVER tell you how they did it! Give Chaos a hug for me too!

OMD he is just adorable! I love his color, and I agree that the tail is great! That face is just too cute for words! You HAVE to post LOTS of pics of your new pup!

I had sculptures of Jackie and Maya done by Ks Clays Creations. She does "whimsical" clay sculptures, which are basically caricatures. She's done whimsical sculptures of horses for a long time, and she just branched out to doing dogs. This is her website if anyone is interested in seeing what she does, or if you want to get a sculpture done. Do most of you clip your dogs' toenails yourself?
JackieMaya replied to JackieMaya's topic in Everything about dogs
Both Jackie and Maya were great about letting me cut all the long hair from the bottom of their feet with a scissors, so I really think they might be okay with me doing their nails. But they could surprise me! I haven't gotten around to trying the clipping yet. -
Jackie really makes a production of burying her "treasures" too. She just uses one paw and very gently takes out JUST enough dirt to bury whatever it is she's burying. Then she pushes the dirt back on top with her nose and taps it down with her nose, then pushes more dirt on and taps it down with her nose. When Maya digs, it's with both front feet as fast and as furious as she can before she gets caught! LOL! But I've never seen Maya bury anything, just dig.
-
Jackie talks in her sleep. Shes goes "woop, woop, woop" while everything is moving. LOL Maya snores in her sleep.

Today when I set out Jackie's and Maya's lunch, Jackie didn't want to eat. So put her bowl of food next to the fence in the back yard out of Maya's reach. I was watching from the kitchen, and Jackie would take one piece of food from her bowl, go about 20 feet away and bury it. Then she would go get one more piece of food and bury it in a different spot. She did this with 4 or 5 pieces of food. What a goofball! I never give her rawhides any more because she buries them.

Well, I bought two different kinds of clippers, but haven't done any clipping yet as Maya especially has been in the dirt/mud a lot (so what's new!), so after her feet are clean I'll see if it looks like I can do it myself. I also found a great site with pictures that shows in detail how to clip the nails. Both of my girls have light-colored nails (when they're not covered in mud), so it will be easier than if they were black. These are the two kinds of clippers I got. Anyone have preference for one or the other? guillotine-type nail clipper: scissor-type nail clipper: -
I have all older neighbors too. I live in the house I grew up in, and it's all the same neighbors who were here when I was a kid, but they're all retired. They're all very nice and we all watch out for each other. I'm very lucky to have great neighbors, because I know lots of people have problems with their neighbors. My neighbors love my dogs too!

Welcome back to Dogo! With your screen name you must be a pig defender too! LOL

I usually have my vet clip my girls' nails, or if they get bathed when they're at the kennel. But I'm thinking I might start doing it myself. What's the best kind of clipper to get for a virgin nail clipper? I know I have to be careful not to cut down too far or I'll get the quick. So I'll just take a little off the ends the first time. Any suggestions or recommendations? I also used to get their long hair clipped on their feet, but tonight I cut most of the long hair off Maya's feet with a scissors (very carefully), and she was great! She has so much fun in the mud that I decided to go ahead and cut her hairy feet. Jackie's feet will be next. -
I was talking to my neighbor who has a beagle, and asked if she would be willing to check in on my girls when I go out of town. I don't have any trips coming up, but just wanted to start checking out options other than the expensive kennel. She said she would be happy to if they're in town. And she also said that her good friend's 16 year-old son took care of her beagle this past weekend when they went out of town, and she said she could tell when they got home how happy and comfortable her dog was being able to stay at home. The kid is real responsible (even took down phone messages). I told her to let him know that I would like to have him dogsit for me sometime too. I know that Jackie and Maya will be SOOO much happier in their own home than they were in the kennel, even though it's a very nice kennel. And they're very good girls in the house. Yippee!

Kat, keep an ongoing log of what's been going on with these people, from the time they started being buttheads. And keep copies of all the mail you get from them. I don't know if it will help you get Meg, but at least it can be used as evidence if you should decide to file suit against them for harassment.
