Sharpeigirl Posted April 6, 2005 Posted April 6, 2005 Sassy has had her 7th UTI this year, and the vet wants to finally get x-rays of her.. We had it scheduled before, but she got better so the vet held off for awhile. But yesterday she started vomiting, and just 30 mins she threw up again. So instead of waiting till friday, I'm going to have to get her there tomorrow. I was wondering is their anything I can feed her that she can keep down, and she will be able to take her meds.. I'm worried, she hasn't eaten in 2 days, all day yesterday & all day today.. Quote
Sharpeigirl Posted April 6, 2005 Author Posted April 6, 2005 She can't even really keep that down to well. We put her pill in some chicken & rice, she ate it, but 30-40 mins later she's retching again.. Nothing came up, but she isn't herself. Very woriesome, she didn't even bark at the kitties in the yard.. Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted April 6, 2005 Posted April 6, 2005 try some ensure or something like that. it is liquid, so it is usually easier on the stomach. it may be hard to get it down, but it should help if you can.... good luck, keep us posted. joseph Quote
DogPaddle Posted April 6, 2005 Posted April 6, 2005 Low sodium chicken broth? Enfalac? (gruelly baby food) Quote
kendalyn Posted April 6, 2005 Posted April 6, 2005
try some ensure or something like that.
I wouldn't give a dog ensure. There are lots of things in there that are very difficult for dogs to digest. I wouldn't worry too much about her not eating if you're getting her to the vet today. I would definately mention her vomiting to the vet though. Quote
pollysmith Posted April 6, 2005 Posted April 6, 2005 Try some strained baby meat thinned with water, a teaspoon at a time. I think making sure she has water in her system is more important than food. Again just a little at a time. Once I sat up all night doing that for a pup with parvo and the vet said it probably saved his life. Hope she feels better soon! Quote
Sharpeigirl Posted April 7, 2005 Author Posted April 7, 2005 She's still kinda funny. Vet didn't want to stress her today so we wait till friday for the x-rays. She did take her pill in some baby food. But she's still off.. Quote
imported_Kat Posted April 7, 2005 Posted April 7, 2005 I would be more concerned by the vet putting her consultation off time and time again. If its something serious like a blockage then surely a bit of stress is better than having her suffer or become a fatality? :-? Quote
Sharpeigirl Posted April 7, 2005 Author Posted April 7, 2005 I know why they keep putting me off, and it's seriously ticking me off.. Sassy has aggersion problems towards the vets. And they don't like to see her come in, but tomorrow we're going in at 9 am to get it done. I will request that they leave the muzzle on her while she's going under sedation. then take it off when she's fully out.. I know there has to be other dogs that act agressive towards the vet, so I don't know why we keep getting snubbed Quote

Atleast my vet does. Quote
