ellieangel Posted February 3, 2004 Share Posted February 3, 2004 Ok I left Ellie for the first time since Rio left us and came home to mournful howling and my neighbour waiting for me She had problems with this when she was younger and after trying so many things we ended up using a spray collar on her,later when she had improved immensely we stopped using it and she would settle ok. A few months later we got Rio and since then she has been fine. I only left her for an hour and previously she was okay for over 3 hours. What can I do to help her through this ? She is so happy when my friend visits with her dog,I know she is so lonely all alone. I still have the collar but I want her to be contented when I leave her. Any suggestions will be so welcome.. Just to add that my neighbour is zero tolerance with this and yes I have explained the situation to him. Also I didn't do anything different when I left her,she had a stuffed kong but didn't touch it Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

DogPaddle Posted February 4, 2004 Share Posted February 4, 2004 Maybe try Rescue Remedy and leave the TV on to Animal Planet. Start by leaving her in another room for less than 5 min and treating and praising her, move up from there.
