1. Conner's DogAge is 5.9! That's 2.2 years younger than the average DogAge for Conner's breed. Heres what it says under "costs". Missing vaccinations At risk of heartworm, fleas, or ticks May be lacking proper nutrition Not enough exercise Aggressive behavior Behavior problems or lack of training Umm, "missing vaccinations"? :o Conner is 100% up-to-date. May be lacking proper nutrition? I'm feeding him Wellness, if thats not good enough, I don't know what is. "Not enough exercise and aggressive behavior" honestly made me laugh. Conner isn't aggressive what so ever, good greif you can take his toys away from him and he just sits and waits for you to give them back. As for exercise...hes always on the go, he gets to romp in the the yard daily, and goes on walks. I'd say that site is bogus.
2. We have a pretty good sized yard so that may add up to quite a bit. I'm not exactly sure what type of fence your talking about either, but as long as its strong enough to hold back a couple a labs I think it would work.
3. Ok, we need a fence very badly, but my mom is worried about the cost. So, I need to know a few things. Anyone here who has a fence, can you please tell me the following: Type of fence you have Approx size of your yard Place purchased Cost Thanks in advance. :)
4. Boxers are wonderful. If your mom is OK with them then that is what I would suggest. Or a mix, I'm sure theres one out there that fits your crtieria. :)
5. Yes, Takona does act a lot like a pure husky. She loves to run, and is definetly stubborn. Has the coat, as well. I see no chances of my mom getting a fence built anytime soon, sadly. Its thousands of dollars, (correct me if I'm wrong, and they are much cheaper), and we are just plain broke right now. She bought a brand new table, and a couch and chairs, which I'm sure added up to thousands, instead of getting a fence built first, though. And she says the "money situation" is the only reason she didn't build one. Thanks for all the advice, though, Seijun. Next time we have enough money, (hopefully we will, someday) I'll tell her about getting a fence. Then she'll have no way out... :evilbat:
6. Takona (the one that runs off the most) is a husky/lab. Max is a chow/lab. Electric fences shock the dog when they run up to them, right? I don't know if my mom would go for that. Though if they are the underground kind, she might.
7. Its in the 60s here. But no sun. Theres clouds and it rains almost everyday. :( Yep, thats the summer so far.
8. Those poor kittens... I agree that you should call the police. Maybe they won't care, but if they do, you have a chance to stop these kids.
9. I'll try that, though I hope she never goes across the street again. She normally just sits at the end of the drive, she just recently picked up that habit. Thank you very much for the advice, rotten_two. :fadein:
10. I still live at home, so the dogs wouldn't be going anywhere.
11.

Nichole Richie and Hilary Duff have poms...but I don't know of anyone else.
Don't start me on this! I was forced to watch of of her stupid MTV video diaries (I should warn you, I loathe her) and she and her sister had their dogs and were letting them attack each other. The poor thing was getting bitten and then stupid Hilary was like "Okay, lets stop that. They're not pit bulls."
  :x And Nichole Richie got her pom from a puppymill in CA... :( People in Hollywood are rarely ever good dog owners. They just get whatever is "in style".
12. Yes. She doesn't do a damn thing about it. (Luckily we live in a semi rural area, otherwise those dogs would have died long ago...)
13. Takona and Max go across the street all the time. Done it for years, theyre fine. I personaly have seen them over there on several occasions, but it wasn't that big of a problem up until a little while ago. Alaska is growing, my area especially. More homes are being built all over, which means more cars. The problem there is kind of self explanatory. So today I head out to the road, and sure enough, there they are. Max came running the second he heard footsteps, he always knows when hes in trouble. Well I get out to the road, and theres Takona. So I tell her to stay, wait for the cars to pass, as usual. But no, this time she doesn't listen. She comes walking (very, very slowly, too might I add ) over to me, while theres a car coming. Of course all I'm thinking now is Ohhh shit. So while shes taking her sweet time, the car comes right up to her, maybe a couple feet away. Luckily they slowed down, and gave her time to cross, but not everyone is that way. When she finally came up to me, I did something I probably shouldn't have...I hit her butt real hard. I was just so scared...I didn't know if I should punish her or not...But I did, its over with now. OK, heres the part that just ticks me off... My mom comes driving out to go to the store and I tell her what happened. That Takona came close to getting hit and all that. She just kind of goes, "Uhuh", and that makes me mad enough right there. I go, "She could have been killed, mom". And heres the great part, my moms reply is, "Well if she gets killed, she gets killed". I just couldn't believe it, coming out of the mouth of the person who claims her "baby" means so much to her, that she wouldn't trade her for a million dollars. Yet she has the nerve to say such a thing?!?!?!! I mentioned chaining to her again, but as always she gives the famous, "she'd hate it" line. I'm just so pissed right now. My mom bugs me every single day about chaining Conner, she says that its mean because "he doesn't like to poop in the yard". Tuff if he doesn't like it. If thats the only way I can prevent him from getting run-over, I'm doing it. Does anyone have any sort of advice what-so-ever on how I can get my mom to become a more responsible dog owner? A site, a book, a show, anything? I just get so frustrated, she never listens to me... :x
14. Nichole Richie and Hilary Duff have poms...but I don't know of anyone else.
15. I've never had that sort of problem, but for the thunder, I believe that if you play CDs of thunder, and get them accustomed to hearing the noise, the fear will lessen.
16. Does anyone know the link to a good "find the pitbull" site? My mom is really sure of herself, she thinks she knows just what they look like, and I bet not, so I'd like to prove her wrong for once.
17. Poor little dog. Probably will end up getting killed due to the idiot.
18. Aww, happy birthday Zeb! :new-bday:
19. Awww, cute pic. Conner lets you clean him off, (he hasn't gotten too spoiled yet), hes so little he fits right in the sink, but its just annoying to have to bathing him. A little sad to, cause I can barely ever hold him anymore. My mom says its a puppy thing, and that Max had the same problem when he was little, so I'll see, maybe he'll grow out of it.
20. IDK, I guess its worth a shot. Maybe trimming his hair will work this time... Hes going to go to the vet sometime here soon (has some teeth that need to be pulled), so I guess I can ask them about it.
21. Sometimes he's got the "runs", (never badly, just a tad sometimes) other times not. It just seems like every time he goes, hes got something on his butt. What I don't get is that even when his poo's aren't the slightest bit runny, he still gets some on himself. :-?
