1. I don't know if you saw my post on this or not, but I didn't purchase my pup, my mother did. He was a "suprise gift" I guess you could say. I love him, just worried is all.
2. Whoa, what? I said sites I've looked at, sites whos writers are breeders of Ch. dogs, and they have puppies available, not already sold. I've read up on puppy-mills, byb, responsible breeders, all that. I said somewhere in my mess of posts though that I just get confuzed, because some sites definition of a responsible breeder is matched with the qualities of my pups breeder, and others aren't. The definition of an irrisponsible breeder I think I pretty much know, except its never mentioned if byb, irrisponsible breeders, either, raise unhealthy dogs or not. I really don't care if he matches the breed standard, or even if his breeder could have cared less about him... the only thing I care is that hes healthy, will be healthy, and was raised healthy. She SOUNDS responsible, its only if you really look some weird things come up... at least to me.
3. My Moms six year old husky-lab cross lived out in the woods for months at about a year of age, and she is healthy as can be now. I'm sure she didn't get proper nutrition, and for all I know, she could of been a puppy when she was first dumped out there. Sorry, this may be repiticias, I've said the same thing practicaly a million times, but I'm just trying to make myself feel better.
4. Well, he looks, and acts as if hes in good health now, which must mean he had good care at a very young age. I think hes had all the shots hes supose to have had, he had to get them before he got on the plane, I think. In his picture when he was really young, he also looked healthy, no swollen eyes or anything. Yes of course, you could "clean" them up for the camera, but theres only so much you can do, so I think he was very healthy then too. And, dogs need care most as puppies, and he seems healthy, and well socialized... so I think hes OK.
5. Yeah, she gave e-mail. I don't think she health tested her dogs or anything, but I'm not sure on that. Thanks if you could do that :fadein:
6. Yeah, your probably right. I'm just crossing my fingers like I said, crossing my fingers... :(
7. Its just really upsetting, my Mom wanted me to have a dog, so she went with what she could afford, and people who would ship. She meant good, but isn't the best "interviewer" around.
8. Well health doesn't always have to do with the breeding, its also what you feed them when you raise them, exersize, those play the biggest part in your dogs health.
9. I was talking to Kat when I said that, not you Cinco. That doesn't sound like to much of a responsible breeding though, really not one at all... but it happens.
10. That kind of makes me feel better, too. Poms aren't prone to alot of problems, so I'm crossing my fingers that hopefully he'll stay healthy. Of course he might go deaf or something, but that just comes along with age. My mom still thinks we got him from a responsible breeder, haven't really told her the bad news yet. I just hope when she says she breeds for temperment and health she really means it. I'm also glad she really DOESN'T breed "teacups", atleast I haven't seen them. But, like I said in an earlier post, I don't think she aims to get the smaller sizes, because she says if you get a female "teacup" that she will HAVE to be spayed, because she can't give birth... just thought I'd mention that.
11. Well, ALL dogs have health problems as they age. Even if you get a pug from a responsible breeder, you may encounter more health problems with it than you would with a Skiperkke from a byb... you never know.
12. My main concern now is not really of the breeders quality, but if my pup will end up with temperment and/or health problems. I want the best for him, and seeing as my families fanancial situation is not all that great, we couldn't afford sky rocketing vet bills. Her dog look healthy, and thats my main concern...you seem knowledgeable about dogs, do you think he has good chances of terrible health problems in the future? But, since when is breeding one dog two times a year "bad"? Also, I must say that, its a good sign to me at least that the dog (6 month), that she hasn't sold already she is keeping, and not dumping at a shelter, because she could care less about it. Also, almost every breeders site has puppies "availalbe", so that must mean that even breeders of Ch. dogs are irrisponsible breeders? I really don't get this whole good breeder bad breeder thing as I said on another board. And does being irrisponsible ALWAYS mean producing "bad" dogs? Oh, and one more thing I thought to bring up, on "Nikki's" page it states that she is just starting to get in her adult coat, but shes really five years old!! What I'm trying to get at is that I don't think she updates her dogs pages very often, so that pic of Savanah could have been from a year or two, or more ago. I would appriciate if you could answer my questions I asked earlier, thank you.
13. Star, I agree, and really don't see how anyone couldn't. I've really gotten lost on the whole "responsible breeding" thing. I got my puppy from what sounded like a fairly responsible person, one or two things were a little odd, but every breeder I've ever met, or talked to, has had one or two things, if not more, that has made me feel a little un-easy. Anyway, back to the being not sure part, it seems as if everyone has different views on whats reputable, and whats not. Like I said, a breeder I thought was a good one was called a byb by most everyone else. For reasons I saw only as just some minor faults. I can't really tell the difference between responsible and not anymore, because all of the difference in opinions from everyone else, I don't know what to trust.
14. I know I'm going post crazy here, but in reality, most of us probably have gotten our dogs from byb, even if we don't know it... which is sad, but just a fact, sorta. I agree more with crazy, things on her site did bug me, but I don't think she is a byb, or I should say I'm more thinking shes border line. Shes most likey not the best person you could ever buy a dog from, but I really don't think shes VERY bad, either.
15. Oh, I've also read up on resonsible breeders, she fits that standard almost perfect. I guess everyone has a different view on whats good, and whats not, because other people have said responsible breeding is much different from what you guys classify it as. Well, on a better note, somone said I should go to a rescue, I might has well have, because most of those come from byb anyway. I still don't think she is one though... my opinion...
16. Well... my Mom said she sounded as if she was a good breeder. Even if she may be a byb, she produces high-quality dogs, which I don't see how that could be...I've read up on them, and they show no quality in the pups they raise. And, whats done isn't done. In her contract it states that if you no longer want the dog, then it should be returned, or she will help with placement of the dog. AND if she wasn't concerned about her dogs, then she wouldn't reserve the right to take the dog back if the owner decides to place the dog in a shelter, give it to a puppy-mill ect. Also, the AS IS, that bugged me kind of too, but think about it... once the dog is in the hands of you, then YOUR responsible for it. She can't help if you let it get runover by a car, can she? Your allowed to have the dog checked by a vet for any major defects, and can send it back if they find any. Once again, on the SHOULD, breeders can't guarentee anything until they're older, so saying that a dog IS DEFINETLY breeding quaality would be a huge lie, because they wouldn't know. Almost every breeder I or my Mom has talked too have said that poms, SHOW quality are about 1000. Unless everyone is a byb, then thats standard cost. One last thing. The toy tea-cup part really peeved me, and I worried about it for awhile, but then she says we "do get" these... as if to me they come along, but shes not breeding for them. This may sound a little bad too, but I think she needs to update her site... she has more dogs now than she states she has on her about me page. Maybe she has changed the cost of the "pocket babies", who knows.
17. I'll just state that, I didn't get him from a brb, not to my knowledge at least... :(
18. Oh, that message posted, oops. Back yard breeder, I don't think so...
19. His names Conner. His parents, Nikki and Prancer, are on penrodsplayfulpoms site. Heres another pic of him, this is his cutest face hes ever put on for the camera. I did some editing though, as you can tell. http://guineapigsrock.home.att.net/images/0002/conner-blue.jpg
20. Conner. His parents are on penrodsplayfulpoms... Nikki and Prancer. I don't know, if you want to see them, too.
21. Oh, theres just a link... but it goes to the photo still, so enjoy! :D
22. http://guineapigsrock.home.att.net/neopets/conner_asleep_small.jpg I hope that picture came through. Hes asleep in it, but thats the only pic I have uploaded to the internet. I'll get one of him standing on soon though, so he'll have an extremly cute pic on here in a few days!!
23. My pup is going to do great in agility, I can tell already. We have little fences, about a foot high, and he can jump over them with no effert what-so-ever. He already kind pf knows sit, down, and "stand". (I've had him a month). But now hes confuzing the sit, and down, so I'm not sure if he REALLY knows it. He seems pretty bright though. My dog sounds alot like yours Pomeranian_Chick, even as a puppy!!
24. No, hes not from a rescue, hes a pure-bred. How do you post pics, I can't figure out how to put them on.
25. Well, I got my dog, but no current pics. I'll take some soon though. Hes got to be the cutest little pup!
