1. yep - same here hey, did you get any toys for Pik? How;s he doing anyway? :D
2. little sweethearts!! what a bunch of fuzzballs!!! :D
3. you know what's really ironic about this Staffie? My girl is a lab mix ("great with children" NOT! "likes everybody" NOT!) but they would have been more than happy to let her run around loose in the park. I mean, she's a LAB right? They NEVER hurt anybody... NOT!!!!!!     I cant really blame the people, they are only going by what the media has rammed down their throats....But the media needs a big slap upside the head....they are destroying and warping the whole concept of the bully breed, because it makes sensational news stories...
4. This is the way it goes Starfox... Dog A becomes very popular (in the 1970's it was the GSD) either from winning shows, or a TV series, whatever. All of a sudden, everyone wants Dog A - there are not enough of Dog A to meet the demand, so unscrupulous breeders bad breed and in-breed to create more. Dog A suddenly shows personality and instability issues - bites more often, causes more damage, etc. People stop wanting Dog A. Dog A is now being bred correctly and the incidents are greatly reduced, Dog A is no longer a threat. In the 70's it was the Shepherd, than the Dobie, then the Rottie..... Now it's the Pit Bull....
5. definitely take her to the vet, but also realize that the new crate my be upsetting her because her old crate was her den...... she may not feel truly "denned" in the new one....they dont need a lot of room in the crate - the perfect fit allows them to get up, turn around, lie down and that's about it. Anything bigger should be blocked so she has no room to move other than above. If they have more room then they need, they will pee in the crate becasue the dont feel truly denned.... in a wolf pack, the "den" area is where they slept - that's it - they would get up and move to the other side of the den, away from their sleeping area, to go. The mom wolf would eat the droppings to keep the den clean. In a crate, you dont have a mom wolf, so you need to limit the amount of room they have so they dont go in there.
6. and if the judge "isnt deterred" does he get to sue the owner for missing a few fingers? that's ridiculous.... the APBT's have a bad name because of the criminal element.... why doesnt the govt do somehting about the CRIMINALS instead of trying to blame it on the dogs??? AAARRRGGGHHH
7. It looks like you have a peeing problem....how old is your pup? maybe we can help.....
8. yes, there are leash laws - she is skirting the edge of them because the dog is not "allowed" to run free, it escapes from her non-fenced yard. She has her out on a line in the yard, but her collar is too loose and she gets out of it and wanders off. The first time she showed up here, she had the collar on, so not sure how she got out. The second time she didnt. The police said that I could file a complaint, but since the dog wasnt doing any real damage it would never be enforced with a fine. And since Tasha isnt in any way dangerous (she wandered into the garage, laid down on a chair out there and went to sleep until my son saw her - he had gone to the store and left the garage open) I was furious!! Both at my son and the owner! There is oil and antifreeze and all kinds of stuff in there bad for dogs....she didnt touch anything, just laid down on the chair (my son and his friends hang out in the garage on nice days) and went to sleep. Then he put her in the yard and let her play with Freebee. And as much as I would like to have this dog, the tears on the kids faces the first time I found her did me in. I am at a hard point here, I dont want anything bad to happen to her, but I dont want to take her away from the kids either. They obviously love her, and they are too snall to have any real say in how their mother treats her....I am very torn by this..... It's so sad..... :(
9. Just FYI for the future - Washing powder is caustic - you should not make them try to vomit; it will burn the esophagus on the way up. Same with gasoline and antifreeze. If you have a poison control center in your area, you can call them and often they will be able to give yu the proper steps to counteract the poison. You would still need to see a vet, of course, but for immediate action poison control is the way to go. Also, for things that can be thrown back up, keep a bottle of Syrup of Ipecac handy - it's the same thing you use for children who have swallowed things they shouldnt...Never administer Syrup of Ipecac without first checking with poison control, because of the reasons listed above. I'm glad your little guy is ok....that's scary!! :D
10. EXACTLY how I felt.. she's SOOOOOO stupid...
11. the yellow lab (Tasha) showed up here again today. She likes Freebee, and so when she escapes from her yard she comes here...in a high traffic area where she can get hit by a car in an instant.... once again, I called and returned her to her owners...I told her owner she needs to secure her better, she will get hurt running free like this... and she says "oh, she'll be fine - we always find her and bring her home.." AAARRRGGGHHHHHH....
12. here ya go In dog heaven, "all cats run slow, no squirrels can climb trees, and all owners feed, pet, and wait on them hand and paws" :D
13. yes it could easily lead to aggression - is she more aggressive to females than males? (just a guess) they are run almost entirely by instinct. She may know she cant come into season, and be aggressive to other females because of it. With low estrogen and other hormones, she may never be able to come into season, especially with no ovarian activity. It would be kinder, unless you really wanted to mate her someday, so have her spayed. Once spayed the aggression will decrease if not go away altogether, and since she cant seem to come into heat on her own it will take the stress away.
14. thanks again Mouse - why does it keep losing the right bracket? :D
15.     TOO cute....
16. can anyone besides me see it this time? Thanks Rowie!!

19. I went to webshots Rowie - COOL site - got a great new background out of it here goes - Frebee as a puppy hope this works....
20. OMD I just remembered!! There used to be a pit bull in the next yard (fostered until adopted) and Freebee didnt like him, so I must be training her to fight as well...and the car trailer is out front, gotta go hide it.....and flush the syringes and antibiotics, and put all the tug toys away....and...and...and....
21. I would take her in a heartbeat if her owners didnt want her..... You're a good soul, Lucky....
22. geez, I guess my lab mix is a fighter too then. My cat is often out in the yard. I have syringes in my house all the time (both my son and myself are diabetics, like Haley) I have antibiotics in my house The cat crate is often outside to allow it to air out the dog crate spent forever outside until someone took it (Alex's old crate) ; it was too big to keep in the house!! although my dog is not chained, she is often outside in the yard people are really stupid about this - I had a harness for Jarvis - he would pull wagons and pull my son around the block on his roller blades....
23. Alex: two remotes, one cell phone, various shoes (always one from each pair!!! ) Freebee: underwear, socks, pantyhose...tennis balls and toys the neighbors kids throw in the yard....
24. Woofit doesnt like me - it tells me no matter what folder I go to that there are no pictures in this folder, even tho all of them are .jpg's.... I wonder if Mouse could help again? I think I'll email her and see what she says....
25. Good job Abker!! (and Abker's mom!!) Putting them in the same cage reinforced the "ladder rungs" - Cracker had to obey Abby because she couldnt get away...and since she doesnt want to lead anyway this allowed them to get it all straightened out between them. Although Cracker was there first, she's not a natural leader. Abby is, and this is the way it should be in their canine/wolf hiearchy.... I think things will be more peaceful now, and I;m glad it all worked out!! :D :D :D
