Puppy's poop & keeping the pen clean...Help!

I have a litter of puppies and I have tried many things to keep
the pen clean. All the poop is unbelievable. I've used dog pads,
newspapers and both together. It takes little time for them to rip
it all into pieces. It has been years since I had a litter of pups.

What do you breeders use to keep a clean pen? I want to keep the
pen as well as the puppy's clean. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Why do I feel a bashing coming on? All I asked
is what others have used for puppies. I thought
maybe someone out there has used something
other than newspaper. I hate the newpaper. It
smells.

No, it is not the dog I talked about earlier.

Youre pretty defensive, you know that? :-?

People are just wondering why you have a litter of puppies ....and Kiwi gave you an answer, so what are you complaining about? If youre going to post about puppies on Dogo be prepared to be interogated because people here are very big on RESPONSIBLE breeding.

I, too, would like to know where the pups came from.... if you were responsible you have nothing to worry about, so just answer. If you dont answer then thats when we get worried...

Not another one!

I honestly hope you're not another backyard breeder. We've already gotten our fair share for the summer. :-?

People were asking questions they honestly wanted to know the answer too, whats the problem?

Isnt that the truth.
How old are they? Registered? Parents proven? What breed?

I keep my older pups in air kennels. The cleanup is easy enough.... just a shovel and a trash can.
My closet pups get a blanket under them, new one everytime its cleaning time (usually 3-4 times a day). They have those cheap fleece blankets at the local Dollar General for $2. (closet pups... I have a huge walk in closet in one of the rooms and I allow my bitches, if they want to, to have their pups in there.)

[quote name='CoalSky']Ummm... it's not like the poop's going to magically dissapear on it's own.

I never said I wanted poop to disappear as if I was looking
for a magic spell !! I said I was looking for a way to keep down
the smell and keep the pups more free of the mess. Newspapers
have an odor. Newspapers also have ink that gets on the pups.
I just thought one of you responsible breeders might say something
like shredded paper is better. Or some other thing they have found
to be good.

mars&venus, people have given you ideas OTHER than "bashing". Kiwi, Michelle and Hmmm have great ideas! Instead of focusing on whether or not you'll be bashed, concentrate on the advice. Kiwi and Hmm are the responsible breeders your looking for. :)

And why didn't you answer any of Hmmm's questions? :-?

Maybe you could try some VAPOORIZE.

Why ask a question if you arent going to listen to the advice given?

Hi have tried those things. The puppies tear up the wee wee pads.
They tear up the newspaper too. :niewiem: Fleece and blankets they
poop all over and putting it in my washer...yuck! I have not tried shredded
paper. I've seen it used in pet shops.

You know I have found an easy solution for the yuck in the wash...I would hose it off in the back yard first. Ring it out and then toss it in the wash.

Shredded newspaper...I used to use that for my Ferrets. Didn't work well. It would all clump together and then there was still the cleaning underneath. Honestly the only thing I have ever come up with that keeps odors down is having someone there 24 hours a day.

I had only one litter born here to a mom I pulled from a shelter. I had an outdoor exercise pen for them but I'll be damned if it didn't rain for what felt like a month. I didn't have the garage space at the time to put the x-pen out there so I gated them in my kitchen. I started pulling up the worst of the tile 2 years ago. Now I'm at the point of I can take my time in pulling up what they didn't get pop into the seams. It was AWFUL!

Of course that was my last litter of pups and I don't look forward to ever having pups again. (Even two is too many).
