EthelB
We are taking care of the puppy about 3 weeks old for our neighbors as they are on vacation. I don't know if she is sick because she had diarrhea several times and vomited one time. Is something wrong or is it normal? Thanks, Ethel
AllAmericanPUP
that's definately not normal.. how old is she? if she keeps on vomiting and has diarhea, i would take her to the vet first thing in the morning..she could have parvo wich is a deadly disease that puppies get..it kills them quickly
Crystal
Why would your neighbours have a 3 week old puppy?....take it to the nearest vet and leave it there for specialist care and attention..they can get the bill when they get back!
Really. Why do they have a 3 week old puppy? Unless it's mother was killed or refused to care for it, but still to go on vacation and leave a 3 week old. I hope that was a mistype. Anyways, no doesn't seem normal at all. Puppy needs a vet or it may be the end. Good Luck.
imported_Kat
3 WEEKS old? :o Where is the puppy's Mum?! This is definitely not normal and the puppy needs to see a vet asap if she is vomitting with diarrhoea
fabke
how on earth could your neighbours get a 3 weeks old puppy ??????? :o :o :o Where did they get it from ???? a pup is supposed to stay with his mum for at least 7 or 8 weeks !!!!! what is it supposed to eat ?????? I really hope this turns out to be a mistake !!!!
DogPaddle
I'm sorry your neighbour left such a young animal in your care and something has gone wrong. If people here seem upset it is because they care deeply about animals and sometimes we get some really inconsiderate people here. A three week old pup with diarhea and vomitting is serious. It will quickly become dehydrated and possibly die just from the symptoms, to say nothing of what is causing the diarhea and vomitting. You need to get it to the vet. How early was the pup seperated from its mother - the mother's milk provides an extra boost to the pup's immune system you see. Did the mother die of an infectious disease - pup's can easily pick things up from their mothers.
imported_Amy
aww poor pup! Are you taking it outside for potty? If so was there any other dogs going at the same place? (could be in the last year). Other cause for this would be eating grass, but i doubt a 3 weeks old pup would do that, it's more of a 3 month puppy behavior. Parvo basically get all the water out of the puppy systeme. The diarrhea is literally water and keep getting out. This is an atroce desease and i really hope you pup isnt suffering from that. Also, what are you feeding her? oh and dont forget that the pup shouldnt have any contact with ANY other dogs before 2 weeks after her second round of immun shots. (between 4 and 5 month old)
EthelB
The puppy has the mother who nursed her. The puppy died early this morning. I searched the information about parvo and she might had it but I don't know. Something must be going on. The mother had 5 puppies but 4 died when were born and one was survivied but now she died. Would hate to tell the neighbor that the puppy died. They suppose to come home either tomorrow or Tues. Thanks for replying. Ethel

EthelB
I guess I will not come back as I feel this site is negative attitude. I just asked for help but someone said negative. Our neighbors are wonderful people and didn't expect the dog to get pregnant. They plan to get the dog to have spayed soon. They are not breeder. They already planned their vacation for long time. I will not come back in the future if I need to ask questions. I can find other forum if I need to ask the questions as I have the dog myself. Kerislc
EthelB, I am very sorry that you feel this way. You must realize that what happened was a result of irresponsibility. Here at Dogo, we protect dogs first, and people's feelings second. It is too bad that you have that impression because there are very good people that can be of invaluable help to you. I think we all understand as well that this forum should never be used as a subsitute for a vet. Good luck to you.
imported_Kat
hang on.. the unspayed bitch belongs to you? Why didn't you tell us this? Fear of being flamed? Well prepare for it now... Why was the puppy with your neighbour instead of with your bitch? this just doesn't add up. :o
