I would never go back to not having a doggie door. However, I live in a very low crime area, with a fully fenced and locked back yard. And I have an extra small sized doggie door for my 10 pound dog. It does make it really convenient when you cannot be home to let the dogs out. I think it keeps Scout from getting too bored. He gets to run around outside a little and he just loves to set on the back porch and wait for birds to fly in the yard.

I don't really either. She just got a divorce and moved into a townhouse that would let her keep her dogs. Now, 2 months later, the landlords are selling the townhouse and she has to move right away. She says she can't find anyone who will accept dogs. I am certainly not making excuses. I think that what she is doing is very very wrong and she should look a little harder for a place that will take dogs. I have tried to tell her this in a nice way, but she has already made up her mind.

A girl that I work with just got a divorce and is going to take her two pure bred shih tzus (ages 6 & 8) to the shelter on Friday morning. I can't stand the thougt of her doing that. I am seriously considering taking them, but I cannot keep them long term. How do I go about finding someone to take these two dogs. I hate to have her dump them off somewhere. I have looked and cannot find a shih tzu rescue in Salt Lake City. Any ideas?

Scout is doing great on Wysong. They sell it at the natural foods store where I do most of my shopping so it is very convenient, too.

Scout is a big cuddler. He knows that when my alarm goes off in the morning that I will pick him up and let him snuggle with us on the bed. If he is not playing, he has to be touching someone. I love it!

My sister in law has a new great dane puppy and someone told her that they needed calcium suppliments. She met with the vet before they picked up the pup and the day after and he didn't say anything. She is feeding him Eagle Pack. Any idea on this one?

EthelB, I am very sorry that you feel this way. You must realize that what happened was a result of irresponsibility. Here at Dogo, we protect dogs first, and people's feelings second. It is too bad that you have that impression because there are very good people that can be of invaluable help to you. I think we all understand as well that this forum should never be used as a subsitute for a vet. Good luck to you.

I love having a totally private back yard. I would never own a house without at least a six foot wood fence. Any money you spend will be well worth it. I do have to remind my husband that even though the neighbors can't see you, they can still hear you. Sounds like DO needs to invent a true "privacy" fence :lol: .

:lol: :lol: Thank you!! I think I will go mix a weak solution of dish soad an use a wash cloth. Scout will be sad, he is licking himself like crazy. It is like having a lollypop attached to your arm :D .

I am making a pork roast for a BBQ this afternoon and put it in the Crock Pot late last night. I realized that a bunch of the fat boiled over and was on the floor in the kitchen and guess who rolled in it!? He is a mess! I just gave him a bath and started to blow dry him and he is still a greasy ball. What can I use to get the grease out. I don't really want to use dish soap, especially because he really needs his face clean. HELP!!

I forgot to mention that yesterday was Scout's birthday :bday: . He is a year old!! We packed a picnic and took him to the park where he ran and ran and ran. We took his ball and played fetch until he flattened himself our on the grass. Then we went to see his best friend Lizzy (where he gained all of his energy again) and they both chewed on their new bones and snuggled together. Oh, yea, and I let him sleep right next to me in bed last night. :D

What about Scout? What is the best way to get him used to having another dog around. He does fine with my sister in law's big dog, but he was the first dog he saw when he left his litter. Should I take him to the shelters and see which dogs he likes?
