Taurus and Jada
This morning I was looking in Jada's mouth, and her one of her molars ( second from the back, top left hand side) is all black at the top near the gums. When I got home from work it looks like it's starting to come out, so I guess it's still her puppy tooth. Is that normal for it to be black? None of her other teeth went black before they fell out. Is there something I can be doing?
imported_Kat
Hi there, a tooth goes black when the root has died. If it doesn't come out in the next few days, then take her to your vet as it will be open and could abcess, causing a systemic blood infection. Possibly what has happened is that she has disrupted it playing tug or rough play with the other dog.
Taurus and Jada
Thanks for the advice.... The tooth actually fell out in the middle of the night last night. I woke up in the morning, went to check on it, and it was gone. The new tooth is nice and white, just started to come in, and the gums are nice and pink, so I guess we're okay! courtnek
Good - glad it's ok Kat is probably right. It may have gotten dislodged in some "doggie-doings" and that made it turn black when the root died. It may just have been a little too early for it to come out, that's all...
