Angelboddy Posted July 14, 2003 Posted July 14, 2003 Well a very close friend of mine got her pup today! After a lot of searching, several deposits, and some traveling, she found her baby! She has not yet named her, but she is 8 weeks old and is tan. She came from a very good breeder, and since she is going to breed her, she cost just alittle more. She has decided to breed her in 18 to 24 months....... IF everything goes well and she has a clean bill of health. But here is the good part................ If she is breed, my friend said that she will give me the runt of the litter! :D I know it's not a for sure thing yet, and I should not get my hopes up, But I just can't help it. :D I just had to tell you guys! :D Quote
stacer126 Posted July 14, 2003 Posted July 14, 2003 Congrats. They are great dogs, mine is amazing. Super smart, tons of energy and fun. Good luck and post some pics. If you need help with a name I have a million suggestions. Quote

Sanvean Posted July 14, 2003 Posted July 14, 2003
She came from a very good breeder, and since she is going to breed her, she cost just alittle more.
I hate to be a spoilsport, but most reputable breeders won't give sell a pup with an open registration. Has your friend bred dogs before? Quote
Angelboddy Posted July 14, 2003 Author Posted July 14, 2003 Thanks you guys! :D I am so excited! I know it's a long ways away, but at least I can watch her little one grow to the day that she will breed her. She is going to bring her pup by saturday, so I can see her and play with her. :D I had my hopes set on a gray or blue weimaraner, but they are a very hard color (let alone breed) to fine here. When she told me she was going to give me the runt, I was so excite. That it did not even come across to asking why she was going to give me the runt. :-? Is there reason why? Are they not wort as much if they are a runt? I was just curious. It does not really even matter to me........... Because I will finelly being getting my weimaraner that I have been wanting for years. To bad I have to wait a few more. :( But it will be way worth it in the end, I just know it! :D Quote

Long story  But her husband has past away now and after many years of not having her babys, she is able to have them again. :D I am so happy for her, Because weimaraners have been her life long passion. :D Quote
Sanvean Posted July 14, 2003 Posted July 14, 2003 Oh, that's good to know! I've only met a few Weims, but I think they're so lovely! Quote
Angelboddy Posted July 14, 2003 Author Posted July 14, 2003 Thanks Sanvean. They are very stunning dogs. :D But it's not just the stunning part that cought my eye, I have done a lot of research on them and I feel a weimaraner would make a great addition to our home and familys life style. Plus it would make a great friend for my baby-dog Nostalgia. Quote
stacer126 Posted July 14, 2003 Posted July 14, 2003 Colby has the shinest, sofest grey coat. People always comment on how beautiful she is all the time, then they ask "is she a lab?" Quote
Angelboddy Posted July 14, 2003 Author Posted July 14, 2003 I'm sorry, but your beautiful pup does not even look like a lab. I don't see how they can get a lab out of that pretty gray coat that she has. She is a very good looking weimaraner, Don't let it bother you. :D Quote
stacer126 Posted July 14, 2003 Posted July 14, 2003 I laugh when they say that. The best part is watching them try to sya Weimeraner. Quote
ellieangel Posted July 14, 2003 Posted July 14, 2003 Oh god stacer I know!!!! People say to me "is he a wer-marine" and such like ....to be honest I rarely correct people now it's far to painful !!! Quote
Marble Posted July 15, 2003 Posted July 15, 2003 yeah, my parents had a weimeraner and my mother took german classes at some point so she pronounces the w as a v, so now i do too, people always look at me funny........i've always thought they were awesome dogs..... Quote
stacer126 Posted July 15, 2003 Posted July 15, 2003 I like the response "a Weim-a-what?". Now i just say a German hunting dog and let them figure it out. Quote
ellieangel Posted July 15, 2003 Posted July 15, 2003
she pronounces the w as a v,
Yes that is the correct way to pronounce it,that's how I say it too  Quote
stacer126 Posted July 15, 2003 Posted July 15, 2003 Interesting... so it would sound like Veimeraner but spelled with a W. I ran into a German couple last night at the park and thats how they said it, I wondered how they would pronounce it. It's nice to hear the original name before it got North Americanized like most words. They said they hardly see the Weims in Germany. Quote
