Yes its normal, for unknown reason whenever some dogs hear a siren they do howl. I have heard that many years ago, people used to think that when a dog howls after hearing sirens, they could see death, my friends dog used to howl when he heard sirens and would shake.

every dog i've had has always howled at sirens. the 'pack' I have now sometimes just cocks thier ears, but I encourage them to howl, lol. I used to think the sound must hurt thier ears, but now I'm not so sure, as they sometimes do and sometimes don't.

Jackie, my black Golden mix, howls at sirens. Once she was in the back seat of my SUV when an ambulance drove by, and she stuck her head out the window and started howling! And she howls at the monthly tornado siren test. Maya, my yellow Golden, just looks at her wondering why she's howling. I'll try to attach a picture of Jackie howling at the monthly tornado siren.

My alaskans howl at sirens, coyotes, wolves, and the sound of my husbands' motorcycle. They can hear it when he is over 3 miles away- and it's not a loud bike. They also howl at each other or for each other- not alot, and the howl jam only lasts about 30 seconds to a minute. I kind of like it.

There are eight dogs in my house. Every single freaking one of them howls at sirens. We live right by a major four lane US highway which has at least daily episodes of emergency vehicles going by. Not TOO bad during the day, but at 3 am... :o

Ben LOVES to howl! His tail is wagging, he can barely stand still and he howls... Like this...
