1. Thanks. Been there - done that. See: .......a so called baby-dane-carousel. :D
2. Very good - that's a start. Did she eat anything? The vet hopefully gave you an appointment to check the little pup out, right?
3. Yep - I'd definately would go with the elimination diet too ! Good advice ! :)
4. I didn't want to go too much into detail about puppy-care, because I think that puppy needs to see a vet asap !! ...........I wrote down a few basics though.
5. Hi there, oh boy - that's quite the situation and I hope the outcome will be a good one for your puppy. First off, I agree with everyone else: You should take that puppy to a vet as quickly as possible !! Second, puppies can go on solid foods between their third and fourth week, but since they only have puppy teeth, you need to soak the dry-food until it turns into a gruel. Depending on the breed of puppy you need the appropriate puppy-formula. Puppies need a lot more fat and calories than adult dogs. A veterinarian will give you all the necessary advice you may need. Also, puppies need shots and need to be dewormed. Shots she won't need before she is eight weeks old, but you should avoid contact to other animals/dogs as much as possible. Especially if the puppy is sickly to begin with !!! Please make sure to take her to a vet though !! Good luck and keep us posted............
6. I personally don't buy any xmas gifts for the dogs (......nor the people  :)), but I do get invited to a lot of doggy-christmas parties with grab bags, which means I come home with doggy gifts.
7.
Thank you all. I think part of the reason it has hit me so hard is that I only had him 9 days and I still morn him but August 9th of last year I put my dear companion Ariel down (she had demtia according to the vet and was becoming more aggressive with people and dogs) and it didn't hurt me when that anniversary passed. I don't know if it's because I knew it was her time or not. Smudge haunts me for some unknown reason. Thank you again for the support.
........that's exactly the way I feel about my two dogs. My dachsi was 16 years old and had a wonderful life. My standard poodle was fighting one disease after another for eight years, and I couldn't write down his "story" without sobbing through it. He finally died of cancer, one disease nobody knew he had. I feel with you............... :( :( :( :(
8. Oh Tammy }}}}hug{{{{ - I know exactly, how you feel.  I lost two dogs this year. One of old age, and one to cancer way too early in his life.......... I still cry, and I will never forget them. They died within two weeks of each other, and they were best friends in life, and it seemed, my boy gave up on fighting for his life, when his girl left him. Old proverb says, that as long as they live in our hearts and memories, they are still around.
We have a secret, you and I that no one else shall know, for who but I can see you lie each night in the fire glow? An who but I can reach my hand befor we go to bed and feel the living warmth of you and touch your silken head? And only I walk woodland paths and see ahead of me your small form racing with the wind so young again, and free. And only I can see you swim, in every brook I pass. And when I call no one but I can see the bending grass.
9. :( So sad, so true.......... :( Thanks for posting it !
10. We wish all the luck in the world for your little guy !! :( Sending tons of positive vibes your way................
11. Well - he's a big boy !!
12. Aaaaaaawwwww the perils of dogownership  - aren't we blessed? I used to be black and blue from being whipped by a happy dane-tail. (......besides that - everything in my house is above the 6 ft. mark.) Enjoy !! :P
13. :o :o :o My dane weighs only 166 pounds. Am I lucky, or what?
14. Me again  - just ran across a Dane-Rhodesian-Mix and thought I share that with you.

Very informative, though ........ :)
17. ..............for all it's worth: I used to have a GSD-Bernese Mountain Dog mix who looked a bit like that: That's her at about nine months......... Best dog I ever had !! :iloveyou:
18. That's wonderful news !! Yeaaaaaaaaaah !!! :laola: I hope Barkley will have a happy and long life with his new family. He really deserves it ! :)
19. :o :o :o :o I don't want to sound rude, but it seems to me that you are not fully aware of the responsibilities that come with breeding. One breeds to IMPROVE the breed, not to produce puppies. My advice: Go to your local animal-shelter and adopt a puppy in need of a good home. That would be the nicest thing you could do for a poor dog-soul out there. No pun intended ! :)
20. Hi, I get my dog-beds at Costco. They are biiiiiiiiiiiiiig, and they're cheap ! Having a Dane means, having lots and lots of dog-beds. None of my dogs shred their beds - thank God. Daytona once ripped a sofa to shreds, but that was a few years ago. He won't do that anymore. Anyways - a Costco-bed is about $20 and worth every penny. :)
21. What a beautiful pup ! :) He reminds me of a dane-pitbull- mix, or a boxer-mix.
22. Aaaaaaaaaaw - what an expression !! :iloveyou:
23. Personally - I'm all for a harness. 8) :D (That's the only thing I will ever strap a Flexi-Lead to........ ) ..........or a buckle-collar, or a martingale - but that's it. What gives ME the creeps are people who walk their prong-collared, chain-choked dogs on a flexi-lead. Now THERE'S something that could really do damage to an animal. :o :o :o :o ...neither here, nor there: It would be nice having a vet on board. All the spamming aside.

Spitz breeds?

Hi Solitaire, first off, welcome to the board :) I hope you have fun reading and posting. Let me list the Spitzes that come to my mind: Finnish Spitz, Norwegian Elkhound, Shiba Inu, American Eskimodog, Keeshond, Pomeranian, Schipperke (I'm not so sure about this one.) I'm sure there are more, but those are the ones that I came up with, without the use of Google. Now here's a link which explains different Spitz Breeds <--- Put that word in your google search bar and you'd be surprised. :)
