I know this post is pretty old, but I had to respond :lol: The only purebred Ive ever had is my russian blue cat - all my dogs have been mixes. when I was growing up we had a small terrier mix named Brandi, and a lab/rottie named Shane. My biggest mix is one of our dogs now - Bongo, he came from Guam and there they call them Boonie dogs (wild dogs who are descendants of both military working dogs and pets who were left on the island after WW2) we call him a shep mix, but the vet says he also is dobie, greyhound and dog knows what else!! :lol: Bailey is my beagle mix - the vet says she may be mixed with either dobie or whippet, but Im not so sure..... our training instructor thinks some sort of herding dog is more likely...... shes a little taller than a beagle, but fairly thin and primarily black with tana nd white accents :wink: I love my mixes!

LOL - that was too funny! seriouely though, I have thrown leashes and collars in the washer with their blankets and stuff and then hang to dry - but Im such a sucker for new ones I usually dont have to :oops: I do alot of the old navy holiday collars and leashes, and any ohter neat ones I find :D

try one of the many feed stores on Pacific ave - they tend to have the good kinds...... I go to one on 99th, they have several good ones (but not innova or wellness :( ) I feed chicken soup, it seems to be good, while not horribly expensive - Id like to always feed us all the best of the best, but I have 8 mouths to feed :o

Shes is absolutely adorable! Very nice to have another "beagle bailey" around here!! congrats!

TDG - Thanks for that, that very well may be it, we fed a "cheapie" food for awhile :oops: then nutro natural choice for a month and now they are both on chicken soup..... when I bathe him I have rubber gloves with rubber "nubs" on them to help get out the hair, and it definetely gets out a ton (I always joke I could make a new dog with all the hair left in the tub!) but it doesnt get better, theres always tons shedding

Congrats on your new puppy!! Just had to say I love your choice in names - after much debate, we neamed our beagle mix Bailey also when we adopted her 2 months ago :lol:

Thanks everyone - I will look for a brush like that - I feed them both chicken soup, just switched from nutro natural choice - Im wondering if the oil supplement might help though, his coat looks kindo of "dry and dead".

Bongo, my 11 yo shep mix is shedding up a storm..... we brush and bathe and brush some more(with an undercoat rake), but still the hair comes out like crazy. Our summers have been gettting hottter the past two years and he gets miserable being so hairy and black to top it off. I have heard that you should not clip a breed with an undercoat, is this true or is there any type of clipping or shaving a bit that might help us and him out?? Thanks so much!

HI Julie- yes, Bailey is a beagle mix...... their coloring does look very similiar! it looks like yours just has the more "muscular" pit build.....Bailey is only 30 lbs...... the vet says it looks like she is mixed with either dobie or whippet - but Im not really sure I agree with those either :lol: not sure what else she is but shes great!

Thanks so much for your help TDG - I am getting the Nutro at Petsmart, II did see that my trainer(instructor) carries Canidae, but unless I am was missing something the ingredients didnt look any better than the Nutro..... where else should I look, and what in your opinion would be a better choice for similar $ ?

I am feeding mine Nutro Natural Choice lamb and rice because I wanted to avoid anything with corn in it as we were having alot of problems with allergies with Bailey..... (have since determined its prob mostly a flea allergy though) I have heard great things about Innova, Chicken soup...., and Solid Gold too but couldnt find any of them...... is my choice "bad" ?? :(
