1. I wish I knew why....... these are very nice people, but "clueless" - the type who jump into getting a pet because its cute without considering breed characteristics and without thinking of it as life long....... people also along those lines making me mad today is one dropping off her two extremely over weight cats becasue they are "too big"!!! :o HELLO!! and another who brought back an angel of a dog (and she herself said was "a saint") because the dog she is pet sitting doesnt get along with him! :WTF: GRRRRRR
2. thanks diane - I have been talking to kandice with vortex, and have jsut emailed sandra about class schedules.......
3. Ok, remember the friend of my moms I talked about awhile back who adopted the adorable little beagle knowing nothing about them and wanting to debark him,....? well, I got an email from my mom this am and the husband of this lady (and a serious clean freak) says she has to give him up  I knew this was goign to happen, they are not the type of people to be able to handle a beagle and all the trouble their nose gets them in ! lol but, she is adamant about him goign to someone she knows - I said I dont think we can, but I owuld be willing to foster possibly if they are needing him out before they find a home..... what else can I do to help this poor little guy?? my opinion is listing him on petfionder or the beagle rescue and being careful about screening, but not sure if shell go for it! UGH!!
4. Oh Thank Dog they seem much better today!!!!!!!!! I gave two of them pepto last night and they all woke up with a clean crate (YAY!!!!!) and running around full of puppy energy again! I think they probably did just eat something they shouldnt have..... Im always pulling them out of eating dirt, wood, poop, you name it!
5. Ive tried that in the past and none of them will answer quest on the phone
6. I'm starting to panic now - Furby the biggest of the foster pups that had parvo has had diarrhea last night and several times today :( none of the three ate as much as they normally do this morning - they are still playing around a little, but seem a little quieter - and Furby definetely seems "down"....... I have called the vet at the humane society and left messages on two different numbers, but no one has called me back. what could be wrong?? how do I know if I should be worrying, because now everything worries me with these guys  what should I do?
7. sarah - I have looked at classes through positive approach, Rainier Agility Team, and one of the instructors through RAT has Vortex Agility....... it sounds liek a club would be a good idea - should I jsut google to find one??
8. Im looking into getting Bailey into agility, Ive thought about it for awhile and recently had the opportunity to take her though a little course and try it out and she did awesome, so Im really excited....... the few that Ive found so far are running $90 - $100 for 6 weeks, Im wondering - does this seem about normal or high or what? I know it would vary state to state a little, but i wanted an idea if that sounds right or if I should do some more looking.........
9. anyone have any inexpensive places or ideas for a cute doggie halloween costume for Bailey??
10. Jr is my first pick, but my hubby might say Shane because he tends to go for the "underdog" but then Im still not sure he is goign to go for it :( he seems to mostly be worried about the $..... we're not exactly rolling in it  but then how much extra can one little one be? from what I can think probably only the vet bills......? and reg visits we always do jsut fine, its only when an emergency comes up or something that we panic......
11. I have my own two on chicken soup - and my foster puppies are supposed to eat what the HS provides which is purina puppy chow :( (they are 5, 6 and 10 lb app 11 wk old mix breeds that went through parvo) I am having a problem with the middle weight puppy, when he eats he gets extremely bloated and his tummy gets rock hard, by morning its usually back to normal. the vet at the HS said I could try a higher quality, but is it ok to try my chicken soup for him or them even though its not puppy? is it likely that it is just a poor food problem or what else might be causing it?
12. Jsut wanted to update you on my fosters that were sick....... they went in this morning for vaccinations and a quick check :) Shane the smallest one (and last to recover) is 5 lbs, he's gaining weight, but is still pretty boney. Junior is 6 lbs and looks like a little fatty  and Furby is almost 10 lbs!!!!! :o he isnt fat though, jsut twice as big as the others in every direction! I get them for atleast two more weeks, AND eventhough someone was interested in Junior, WE get first choice if we decide to adopt any of them!
13. the site says its underconstruction  Im too new to know what this was all about though.......
14.
If she bays, she's coonhound. If she doesn't bay, then she isn't.
I agree with pretty much everything here, but jsut wanted to add, that if she doesnt bay that doesnt mean she isnt still part B&T coonhound...... my beagle mix doesnt bay.

FLEAS!!

$80?? I pay $45 for a box of 3 apps for my dog at my vet.......
16. Baileysmom

FLEAS!!

frontline plus is what I use on bailey too, she is allergic to fleas and this seems to work like a charm!
17. Baileysmom

FLEAS!!

fleas can be a problem yr round cause they love to come inside now  theyre probably going to be almost impossilbe to see on Zoe unfortunately - start by giving them all a good long bath (as long as they will stand it) the water alone will kill alot and pick any off you find and put them in a bowl of water...... thats a good start :-) good luck!
18. I like the resolve products also, but have had problems with the stains "reappearing" and it doesnt seem to happen as much with folex - you can get folex pretty much anywhere - at the grocery store, target, etc....... a big white bottle with purple writing
19. still better today!! Jr ate baby food!!!!!!!!!! YAY!!!!!!! :multi: shane is about where jr was yesterday - he licked the food atleast!! and is showing more energy than yesterday! its looking up!!!!!!
20.
Before you bring home another dog ( say for fostering) or allow a friend?s dog to come over to visit, be sure it has been vaccinated regularly for Parvo. Although adult dogs generally have a higher resistance than puppies do, they still need to be kept current on their vaccines.
I'm sure you meant well, but this part did make it sound more like we are not too bright rather than the vet.
21. I hope so Na....... but for now, I am encouraged that tonight I was able to get about 4cc of electrolytes down Jr without too much of a fight, AND when we put him back in his cage he scratched, shook a little and walked badk to the front and whined to get back out!! :D YAY!!!! thats the most energy Ive seen out of him in a week!!
22. I jsut thought Id update for those of you following our poor foster pups fighting parvo...... Out of the mom and 6 pups originally, there are 3 pups left (Junior, Shane and Furby according to the kids  ) Furby is good and is jsut left to cuddle with shane..... shane is still not eating, but is also not throwing up or anything...... Junior was taken off IV today after 5 days on it and is about the same as shane - I force fed him about 2cc of electrolytes today and he was fine with it and dr plans to force feed a tiny bit of baby food later and see what happens....... thats about it - we go in once or twice a day to visit them and give them some familiar contact that they dotn get as much of in quarantine, other than its jsut one day at a time!
23. Hey DAL, you know I jsut went through having all the pups here and tons of stains - Folex seemed to work really well, its in a big round white bottle with purple writing found it at target, walmart, grocery stores..... the thing I liked was that the stains dont seem to "come back" which is the problem I always have (they look gone when I clean them and then somehow reappear!) I have also heard alot of people here talk about "natures miracle" I think - but not sure if thats stains or jsut odors?
24. Ok, so most of you know the story with the foster momma Angel and her puppies...... theres now 4 puppies left - three are still pretty sick (one worse than the others) and one is eating and almost considered cured (yay!) my question is, I have been considering the possibility of adopting one should they make it....... I feel like we have all been through so much with them, and feel so bad that they have lost their sisters and mom. I have been wanting a small dog for quite awhile, but I want to know - do you think it would be a good idea or am I doing it for the wrong reason? Im not even sure if my husband would want to yet - I briefly mentioned it, but he jsut said hes not thinking about that yet. what do you think??
