Izzy your an  the puppy is an  and very adorable, I hope you find a good home for her
3. Usually it does NOT calm a dog down if you breed him, the excact oposite, the get more active (they finally figured out what to use those things down there), they can become more dominant, escpecially with other adult male's.
4. With dog shows you take in consideration the breed of dog (some breeds are shown in specific leads), the size and the color of the dog, if you have for ex. a black dog you would show it in a black lead (and you shouldn't be wearing black clothes). Mainly what you want to do is to make sure that the lead is in the same color (or as close to it as you can get) as the neck of the dog, and you should prefferably be wearing the excact opposite color, the dog should stand out when you are standing behind it, it should not blend into you if you get my drift...
5. Are you meaning for show or obedience competition?? If you are talking about showing it would really help if you told us what breed of dog you've got, if it's for obedience than I think i'ts just what fits your dog.
6. She is stunning, congrats with her, and they look like they are really getting along
7. Due to shortage of money and the fact that I wasn't even sure that I would be in Reykjavik on the day the dobermanns would be shown we wont go, the show is next weekend, so I'll just have to go and watch. Also I have been very very busy with studying for my test (Im going to see if I can get in to study medicine(sp?)) So I'll just have to wait for october :)
8. Lovely pictures as always :) I really don't mind spending my time looking a dobies, it is a time well spent 8)
9. This is something I've never been able to understand, why does the AKC use a different breed standard than the country of origin? Why do breed clubs decide that in their country each breed of dog doesn't have to look excatly like in other countries? Take the dobermann for excample, the FCI breed standard is quite different on aspects that really do matter, it affects the movements and total structure, I like to see dobermanns in america that look like the europian dogs and are also able to work. Why doesn't the AKC (or in this matter the breed clubs) make it a rule that a working type dog isn't able to become a champion if it doesn't pass a working test? It can get all the show points it wants but it wont become a champion if it can't at least show an inclination of being able to do some work, this would maby have helped the GSD in america as the breed there has a very unhealthy sway in the back. But there is also the fact that the breeders will breed what the judges reward...
10. Well you might be wondering why that is a good thing... Well Fluga and I spent all weekend training SAR and it was so much fun, lots of dogs and lots of training and playing, a weekend well spent. We worked very hard every day and on monday at the end of the seminar, we were avarded a certificate that we passed the C-test, wich is the first stepp of three to becoming a certified rescuedog, now we have to work for our B- test and finally our A-test. What is in fact really amazing is the fact that Fluga is almost 6 years old and we had only gone like 7 times to trainingclasses before the seminar, so that has to be a very fast learning dog to be able to accomplish this feat. What is involved in the C-test is that the dog has to search an area and find a lost persone, one or more, signal the find to the handler (in her case barking) and show the handler where the persone is, then the dog gets to play with the him. So you can see I am very very pleased and proud of my little girl right now

12. Found this to be kinda interesting but... http://www.watleyreview.com/2004/052504-3.html Some people have way to much time on their hands
13. Oh yeah, I am going for the weekend training tomorow, I am cleaning my clothes and stuff that I'm bringing along... I am so excited, not a bad way to spend a weekend now is it :) I will tell you how it goes on monday... (so no Dogo for me for three days, I think I might manage, well maby  )
14. tihi I feel so important  This is so much fun, she learns so darn fast, I'm having trouble keeping up with her (well this I knew before but may I say it again she is so deam clever). Before yall know I will be running upp and down mountains searching for lost people all over the place, U know some of you will have to come to Iceland, and get lost, so I can rescue you
15. Well I did at one time complain that I was stuck here with a very good agility dog and couldn't compete on a national basis, well an article Kat wrote about Meg so I decided to do something more with here. So since april we have been training as a Search and Rescue team 8) I would never have thougth my dog would be so darn fast in picking upp what she is supposed to do, we have been to less than 10 training sessions, and she can locate a persone in a mountain hill by scent alone, bark at the persone with out a cue, come to me and bark and then show me the persone, she totally knows what she is doing, she is finding the guy that has her ball, and she knows how to get it, she has to mark on the guy, and come to me and tell me that she found the "victim" and and show me the victim. This weekend we are going to a seminar an I am so excited, it's going to be so much fun, a weekend devoted to training my dog and having fun with other dogs, not a bad way to spend your weekend is it :)
16. ohhh that looks like so much fun, she is lovely
17. Still??? because I can see them
18. If you are interested in trying the showthing I say go for it. I have an intacked male dobermann and I have never had a prolem with some of the things on that list, for example he never ever runs off, the garden can be completly open and he wouldn't even think about it (off course we had to work on obedience, but there is not a dog in the world that you don't have to train). A dog show is really a breeding evaluation, that it is evaluates each dog on how close it compares with the breed standard, it isn't (or at least shouldn't) be about wich dog is the most beautifull so the aim you should go with is getting a good review and a red ribbon (it might be a bit different at you shows but at our each dog is evaluated an given a grade, first grade is a red ribbon, second a blue and third a yellow). My aim when I go to a show is to get a red ribbon and a good evaluation, if a dog gets a blue ribbon it does not continue and getting a red ribbon means that the dog is a very good repricentitive of it's breed. Points toward championship and a placing in the breed is a bonus (but off course most people go to a show with the intent of getting there). Sorry about the rambling  but I do love to show dogs (and all kinds of other kind of work, like agility, obedience, tracking, SAR) and you can get your feet wet by entering in puppy classes. Also you should talk to the breeder and be totally honest with him/her about your intent as she may not be willing to give you the best puppy in the litter if you are not sure about showing and nutering.
19. A little late but what the heck, here are some pictures from the show. Its a bit dark and the pictures didn't come out veru well but you can se him and me (but please don't look at me to much  ) A little bit fuzzy but you can see how lovely he is standing Stacking for the judge Still being judged (p.s. you can se the judges but in the left side of the picture  ) Open class males
