1. No problem. :D
2. This is a discussion board. You stated your opinion and people stated theirs. I have left it to the pit experts, as I am not one of them having only one pit mix so far, but my pit mix Chaos was socialized from 8 weeks old and grew up with another dog. She was fine until about a year now she can not stand any dog that dosen't respect her. She was even taken to obedience lessons but sadly can no longer be take to the dog park with my other two because I don't want to take the chance of another dog thinking their "all that" and a fight breaking out. I would feel horrible. I'm very glad your dog is fine with other dogs, I really hope he stays that way, but not all are like that.
3. After this post I'm leaving this thread. I meant you were gonna get it from the mods for swearing, personally it dosen't bother me I've heard much worse trust me. The problem is its against the RULES OF THIS BOARD, not my rules. I'm awfully sorry you took offense.
4.
GO f**k YOUR SELVES NONE OF U ARE DOG EXPERTS.
I was not threatening you in any way, but swearing is against the rules. I agree someone please lock this thread. Seems we've had to lock a lot of threads lately....
5. I'm not insulted by your little remark, but I would ask you kindly to stop swearing as it is against the rules.
6. :o I've stayed out of this and left it to the "experts" but your really gonna get it now.
7. Oh it works now, huh how weird.... That was cool, I saw a bit before on animal planet K9-5, she trained him (his name's Keeper I think) with a hotdog in her mouth. I'm sure almost any dog would do that for a hotdog. But it was still good that must have taken a lot of work.
8. The link didn't work :(
9. A dog that attacked a preschool boy must remain secured with the Toronto Humane Society pending a June hearing to determine its future, a justice of the peace has ruled. Bandit, a pit bull-Labrador cross, has been held since last August with the humane society after it attacked 3-year-old Daniel Collins, who reportedly tried to kiss the dog. The boy needed 200 stitches to his face. The city wants the dog to be put down, given the seriousness of the attack. The humane society believes the dog could be a pet if it found the right home. The court ruled yesterday against a city request to have an independent behavioural assessment of the dog. However, humane society president Tim Trow said they plan to go ahead with a professional assessment on their own. "My opinion as a layman, he is pretty good. He's happy and playful," Trow said. "He's an excellent potential pet in the right home." In the interim, the court ruled that the dog would not be out of the humane society's control, meeting the city's assurances that the dog not be adopted or put into a foster home, said Eletta Purdy, city manager of Toronto Animal Services. A full hearing is expected in June on the city's request for a euthanasia order for the dog.
10. Well I'm glad it's resolved and she'll finally be able to be at peace.
11.
She deserves dignity, so give it to her and dont drag yourself down to the level of doing a botched up posioning job where she will die slowly and in pain, with every gasping breath wrecking her whole little body, as her heart struggles to beat, and she is wildly looking into her owners eyes, asking for help. Dog forbid.. but if it came to my wee Meg... I would give her all the dignity that she deserves because she has served me well, and owes me nothing.
I nearly started crying reading that, I could picture her... :o
12. Sorry to double post...
I never said I would have someone drive me back out there to do it, I only told you how far it was and that no one was willing...I had actually planned on mailing the medication to her..it's not that hard to crush up some pills and put it in some canned dog food. (Should it have been made clear that it would be ok...that was my original question if you can sort through all this nonsense and see that)
If she couldn't humanely kill the dog a few years ago at the vet do you think she could kill her this way?
13.
Please...yes I could get a ride anywhere "I" need to go...but getting someone to put a dog in their car that DOESN'T WANT TO is a different story...
Could you rent a pickup and put her in a crate and have the person drive to the vet?
14. Guess what? many people have old and even young dogs that are blind and deaf. The reason she bites is probably because she had no contact with humans for the past how many years. It's not your fault, but if you can get a ride there to poison her, why can't you get a ride to the vets as well? I would not be defending my aunt like you are now, I KNOW I wouldn't because one of my aunt's had a dog, a beagle who never got walked and sat outside all day alone. He wasen't in bad condition, but he was getting there. I flat-out told her thats not the way a dog should live, and to do something or find a home for him. (She actually listened to me, a teenager and found him a home though I don't know where.) Just because your related does not mean an animal should have to suffer because you don't want to start a family feud.
15. I don't personally have a husky but my neighbour does. He's a VERY beautiful dog. He's also an escapt artist I've found him outside our yard playing through the fence with my dogs and had to bring him home twice. He was a perfect gentleman on the walk home with me. :D
16. I'm with Hillside too. This is just sick, stop sugar coating it this is horrible animal abuse! And yes, your aunt is to blame. Not being able to take the dog to be euthinized cause you love it is one thing, but shoving an old, blind, deaf dog outside to rot like yesterday's garbage bacause it dosen't have bladder control is sickening. The life this poor animal is forced to live is sickening. Don't poison the poor thing cause you can't stand the smell, if you aunt loved this dog an ounce she would get in that car and end its suffering! Stick it in the bathtup if its that bad! if it snaps, get a muzzle! Or just tell your aunt to suck it up and do one favor for the dog that loved her no matter how much she abused it!! Although I would never usually suggest putting a dog in the flatbed of a pickup, rent a truck, get a crate, strap it down, pile blankets in so the poor thing is moderately comfortable and warm, and help this dog. I have one question, if you can't get within 10 feet of the dog, how do you give it any attention? I'm sorrybut your aunt is NO animal lover.
17.
you're gonna laugh at me, but I have avoided taking Laurel to the vet because of that. I took her once, she pooped out of fear...I am taking her again Saturday, but she is more socialized then she was the first time. If it helps, I walked her both before the drive and after. and she still pooped. Sometimes fear is more than training can overcome...
Don't worry your definately not the only one   At Riley's first vet appt. he barfed (probably from car sickness) then pooped, even though I had seen him go (and cleaned it up) moments earlier outside. Talk about embarassing.

pet shop lawsuit

I have a confession to make. Lucky is from a pet shop. We'd had dogs before but they were all given to us or adopted. My parents didn't know any better and I was 9. We had been looking for a dog for a while so it wasen't really an impulse buy, but I will never get another dog from a pet shop. Although I have no complaints about him, he's SO smart, no health problems in 6 years, awesome temperment, I met another border collie/golden retriever mix from the same pet shop and probably related to Lucky, nine months old with horrible hips and was aggressive. My friend's sister bought a "shih-poo" not long ago from this same pet shop that bit a child. Education may be the key, but if people don't care enough to keep the dog for its entire life and only got a dog for their kid they probably won't care where it came from either. :(

pet shop lawsuit
if only pet shop owners would have to only buy from certified breeders that do testing for genetic deficiencies, it would make it a much better place....
The problem with this is no responsible breeder would EVER sell their puppies to a pet shop...
21. Just look at these poor dogs... How cruel of us.
22. I'm not American. I've used a crate for two out of my three dogs. Lucky was housetrained by no more then 10 weeks using a crate. (probably earlier I don't really remember the exact age, though I know it wasen't more then a month after we got him.) He LOVED his crate. The dogs have their own couch, are allowed on the bed as long as they behave, but where did he choose to sleep? The "mini-jail". Chaos hated the crate. I found she ONLY had accidents in it. So she wasen't forced to use it. But she wasen't a chewer like Lucky was either. My newest dog Riley had to be put in the crate, for one he wasen't fully housetrained even at a year old, (he's a rescue), he is definately a chewer, and also for his own safety, as him and Chaos didn't always get along. I guess it all depends on the dog, but I've found most dogs love to be in their crate and will willingly sleep in it.
23. Who will decide whether this dog lives or dies? Attack left a boy with 200 stitches Judge to make ruling tomorrow BILL TAYLOR FEATURE WRITER The worst thing about him seems to be his name
24. PETA definatly have somthing wrong in their heads. I like the cropped look myself, but would never do it to a puppy. Plus is it really worth the risk? If you take a look at Shara's link there was more then one person, I think 3 or 4 that had a puppy die.
25. I posted this before, but I've been looking for it again for ages to show somone so thanks! :D
