I think you are right Gooey :wink: We want a daxie in the future (major soft spot for them) and all that molly coddling would put me off,I have heard the thing about the stairs before but the rest seems a litle extreme,not running on even ground :o I have a friend who has bernese mountain dogs and she lets them run with the other dogs from pups which is supposed to be a big no no but her last female lived to 11 (old for a berner). Also I have not really done the right thing with Rio as some people will say that the bigger breeds should not run and bounce about until they are at least 18 months because of their hips but he has run with Ellie on walks from day one,maybe I will regret it in the future but I doubt it ,I think it is better for them to have a shorter more natural life than a longer restricted life.

Springers have a pretty good life span 12 to 14 years but I often wonder about Rio because he is big whether he will go first even though Ellie is a year older,both of the breeds in him suffer with HD and his breeders were in it for money nothing else :roll: Also with Rio he has a diluted coat (he is blue)and I have often wondered what the big deal is with this as most breeds are considered inferior if they are born with a blue coat (with the exception of danes),anyone know ?

Ok K is right.......I don't know much but I have had a scout around and in the United Dobermann club code of ethics it says this...... 1. Abide by the Constitution and Bylaws of the United Doberman Club and the rules of the American Working Dog Federation. 2. Keep accurate breeding records, registration papers, and pedigrees. 3. All service and sales arrangements shall be mutually agreed upon, stated in writing, and signed by all parties involved. 4. All advertising shall be honest and not in any way misrepresentative, fraudulent, or misleading. 5. Support and conduct only ethical trade practices. 6. [color=red]Maintain the best possible standards of canine health, cleanliness, and care.[/color] 7. [color=orange]Encourage the x-raying and hip certification of Dobermans for hip dysplasia and the testing of Dobermans for other common health disorders.[/color] 8. All dogs offered at stud shall not be bred prior to one (1) year of age and shall be in good health and free from communicable diseases and disqualifying genetic faults (as defined by the UDC's conformation standard). Any bitch accepted for stud service must be [color=red]at least 18 months [/color]of age, in good health, free from communicable diseases and disqualifying genetic faults. 9. No bitch shall have more than one litter per year (litter defined as two or more puppies), nor be bred prior to one and one-half years of age. She should also be in good health and free from communicable diseases and disqualifying genetic faults. 10.
