1. Wow :) I never thought of freezing it. I'll have try that on Daisy. That is her favorite toy. What a great idea  I'll tell you, I have had dogs for years, but have LEARNED SO MUCH FROM ALL OF YOU! THANKS!
2. Ouch :fadein: I'll keep my man and my dogs! Luv em all!
3. Yes, I am all for it! Chelsea was crate-trained by her foster family until we adopted her. But I think I am getting one from the owners of Daisy's parents. Daisy, my chocolate lab, had a litter-mate that just died. He tore apart his bed and ate part of the canvas strip. They had to operate on him. They took a large part of his intestine out and he didn't make it. :( So, when I saw that Chelsea had tore apart her bed, it shook me up. She isn't eating like she usually does, and I am really watching her. I hope she didn't eat some of the foam padding. There was so much on the kitchen floor, it looked like she just shredded it. I'm sure Daisy helped too :-? Does anyone know if foam passes easily?????? I have seen socks and kneehighs pass (Daisy of course), but never had an experience with foam :o
4. She seems to be doing pretty well over the past two days, maybe she is getting the hang of it. There are still accidents, but not like before. I guess I was just being too impatient. It has been three years since I have had to train a puppy, and I guess I just forget all the little messy details. You know, you only remember the good things.... :P The crate I was looking to purchase at Petco was probably on the small side. I think I will need at least a 42" and I think that was 36", so the $100 wasn't that far off I guess. I going to get the used one!! 50 bucks isn't bad, and it is big!
5. Petco has them, but they were pretty expensive. So we bought a Sell it and a Trade In Times and found a used one for 50.00. Petco's were over $100.00 for a large size.
6. No no, I didn't mean she is out along, without me, I mean she is alone without the other dogs. I tell her let's go out and then I say "let's go potty" and repeat both sayings. She is such an escape artist!!! I told you she climbs the gate, well now, she pushed open the kitchen door and had the roam of the entire house (and the water bowl) while I was at work!! I really need a crate!! We are going out for one TODAY!
7. I do have her out alone a lot of the times (because I take her out so much more than the other two). Then I wait for her to go and praise her. I think she is a just little slower learner. Any idea what age I can expect her pick up on this?
8. As some of you may know, we have a new puppy. She is about 13-14 wks old and is a lab/GR mix. I am having a hard time potty training her. I don't remember Daisy being this difficult. Chelsea has gone to the bathroom in just about every room of the house!!! With two other dogs in the house, I thought it would be much easier to train her. Am I just expecting too much at this early stage of the game, or the second part of my question..... are Golden Retrievers a little on the slow side????? I know the Lab side can't be stupid! I am so frustrated  HELP! We tried a "crate-type" training, a gate with her bed up against another door, so she has the same space as a crate, but it is when she is out of that area that she goes. She can go out side run around, Daisy and Trixie go and I leave them out for a while, they all come back in and Chelsea will pee on the carpet????? ....just a little example for you. By the way, we are looking for a used crate if anyone in the Philadelphia area is looking to sell. She is climbing over the gate
9. You know, our new little girl was acting very sluggish and strange after I had put a new (1st time ever) flea collar on her. After reading this, I wonder if it was effecting her too....... hmmm.... I took it off of her yesterday, and she seems much more lively. Sometimes I wish I had left it on :o
10. Yes, you can tell a puppy's age by their teeth. My vet told me that my puppy was only 12 wks old, instead of 14 wks by looking at her teeth. I think it is by the amount of baby teeth they have left. Congrats on the new puppy!!
11. Whoops.... wouldn't be able to go through the day with only one meal :-? How much do you think our new pup should eat? She is 17 lbs, Lab/GR mix and she is eating about 2 cups a day??? Think this is good?
12. I feed all my dogs twice a day. I know I would be able to go through the day with only one meal!!
13. All three of my girls are in the top ten! Daisy is a lab, Trixie is a sheltie/shepard, and Chelsea is a Golden Retriever/Lab.
14. We just adopted a puppy that was in a foster home. She seems to be afraid of her own shadow, and I don't know if that is a puppy thing, a foster thing or just her???? As for bonding, we had no problem. I think you had yours far longer than our Chelsea was in foster care though. She has bonded well to the entire family, dogs and all. I think if you have a great family that adopts her and gives all the love they can, there shouldn't be a problem. Time heals all!
15. I have heard that rubbing alcohol works too. It is on the same order as the witch hazel. When you put a few drops in the ears the alcohol helps to evaporate the water quicker than it would on its own.
16. FYI: I had Chelsea to the vet tonight, and no one else in the family, on two or four legs had to be de-wormed!! The worms can only be spread by fecal contact. If you had a toddler in the yard and came in contact with the waste, then there might be trouble. So, we are all okay, and Chelsea's worms should be gone by tomorrow!! :) P.S. Sorry.... I didn't mean to "open a can of worms"
17. Well, I went to K-Mart, almost as bad as Walmart and they only had a de-wormer that killed round worm. So, I go to the vet with our little girl tonight and will pay the big bucks for the vet's meds. Oh well.... It's not the first time. Any way, how do you send picture links? Can I include pictures along with my messages, or do I go to the picture forum section? Just wondering. You all have to see her. She is such a cutie!!!! Thanks for all the worm info.
18. Even the people???????? Yuck!! Can the worms spread to us? If so, how?
19. Hi and Happy New Year everyone!! We got a new puppy the other day from the Sommerset County Humane Society and she is really sweet. (She has a couple brothers and sisters if anyone is looking...) Any way, she has worms and I was wondering if there was a natural, home remedy I could give her to kill or slow down the worms until she sees her vet Thursday night. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Her name is Chelsea and she is a cute black lab mix.
20. He will always be in your heart.....
21. I guess stealing an ornament or two is better than peeing on the tree
22. I never thought of a spray!! Wow, great idea. I'll give it a try :D Thanks
23. Daisy will not leave the tree alone  Every day when I come home from work, my daughter has a new collection of ornaments she has taken from her!!! Next year I am getting a table top or, maybe she will outgrow it by then. She is 3 little
24. I had heard that Pointsettias (sp) are also poisonous. :o
25. Wow, the poo worked for us. Don't bury it too deep. That's the trick.
