Guest Anonymous Posted December 3, 2003 Posted December 3, 2003 We know that the dog is not a pit bull. what was stated was that people who do not know call them pitbulls or more exactly "pit bulls on steroids". its not like the gerneral public or the media takes the time to find out what breed of dog they are talking about they go for what sells papers. Guest Mutts4Me Posted December 4, 2003 Posted December 4, 2003 Ohhh... did I throw you into that tizzy? I'm very sorry, but I can assure you that we're well aware of what Presas are, and that they are not pitbulls. I remember when the Diane Whipple case first broke the news. Everyone was talking about pitbulls. The media was talking about pitbulls killing some woman, friends, colleagues, neighbors, strangers, everyone was talking about the killer pitbulls. Some media outlets got it right, kind of. "Presa Canarios" were mentioned, but they were compared to large pitbulls. I remember trying to tell people, "No, they weren't pitbulls, they were these uncommon dogs called Presa Canarios, etc etc" and getting these blank looks, because they didn't care. In their minds, they were pitbulls. That is what I meant by saying Presas and Dogos could be generalized as pits and therefore contribute to society's "pitbull hysteria." There are a few Presa owners on this board. If you are one, hang around :) Quote
