Guest Anonymous
What is the best food to feed puppies? Puppy food or regular food? I have an 6mo. old boxer mix. She has long skinny legs and is always jumping over the sofa and running around. I want to feed her whats best for her joints and her bones. She likes what I am feeding her now but I don't no if it is helping her grow up right. shell http://f2.pg.photos.yahoo.com/mds5562000
alicat613
With large breed pups I don't like puppy food, and especially not after 6 months. Look for a good quality adult food like Canidae, Natural Balance, Diamond/Chicken Soup, California Natural, Wellness, Innova, Solid Gold that is around 23% protein. Black GSD
I agree with Alicat about the food. I just wanted to add that you really shouldn't be letting her do any high jumping at her age. (I'm thinking that "jumping over the sofa" is NOT a good idea.)
Aroura
Boxers are hard to put the weight on when they are growing, they are always so skinny!!! I found that the only way to stop Lily looking anerexic at that stage of life was to give her a meat meal every day, lots of meaty bones. Of course, I advocate 100% raw now but i realise it isn't convenient for every one. Another thing I do for younger dogs (our Lab is on it at the moment, along with her meat meal) is instead of buying puppy food we buy them active food, has more calories that growing dogs need.
