An overweight dog of any breed, like an overweight specimen of any species including humans, simply has more health problems and it is unlikely they would live as long as they would at a healthy weight. Being overweight is hard on the heart and bones, there are heavier deposits in the arteries, etc. Rather than worry, why not get your dog on a healthy regimen to get back into shape!
