Bensam
Hey, maybe we aren't so backward after all! There are now age classes in a special catogory for neutered dogs available at shows in Victoria and I would assume the rest of Australia. IMO these face two hurdles, first - the Affiliates have to schedule these and if they don't become a common thing, it just wont take off. Second - Unless there's a lot of these classes offered, exhibitors aren't going to enter the few that maybe offered as it immediately acknowledges their dog is neutered, obvious in the males, but who know how many speyed bitches are being shown? We have also had a ruling for a considerable time that neutered animals can be shownin ordinary classes as long as they have a Vet. certificate to show it was a necessary lifesaving procedure. Never got many of those, to my knowledge. Question-- Over here you have to be a paid-up member of the dog assocs to compete in a number of activities, breed doesn't matter. Is it the same with the AKC or must you have a reg. breed to compete regardless of membership?
Bensam
That's discrimination, what about equal rights, a dog is a dog is a dog. I would love to see a LH Whippet racing. If we had them here, I would be VERY tempted, as I do love the long-coated, Affie types and the size would be just right.
