1. Smokie won't gooutside in hard rain either, he's scared of it.. lol. He holds it though. Other then that, if it's lightly raining, we have to go outside with him while he goes, lol. Sometimes we have to do that anyways though, lol.. Such a spoiled doggie.
2. Not really. We take turns chasing each other with his toys though, that's the only form of imitation we do.. lol.
3. Glad he's doing better!
4. Hmm, maybe try putting some water in there with her at night? She should be drinking a lot of water anyways if she did have an infection to flush it out. I hope everythings Ok!
5. Welcome back, I just joiined a little while ago, but really love it here!
6. Awww congrats, I can't wait to see pics!
7. That is sad, I hope that it is photoshopped aswell.
8. Smokie is always spooked by rain, and especially by thunder.. ugh, you should see him shake, on second thought, no you shouldn't. And I mean in the house he's spooked, lol. Why do the dogs not sleep inside? Maybe there was another animal out there, a c@t or skunk or something? Not sure, but hope it gets better for you.
9. Yeah, I totally agree with what you said. But I've never jumped in the middle of a dog fight before. I couldn't even probably bring myself to take pictures.
10. Why didn't he go out there and try to scare the pitbulls away that I don't understand? I would of at least tried to go out there with a stick or something. I know pitbulls can be scarey as well as any large breed, but I'd at least try to go out there and stop it. Once I got chased by a dog who was snapping at me, so I turned around and kicked the dog (otherwise i'd probably get bitten) the dog ran away crying! I agree peoples faults not pitbulls. If people could just keep their dogs under control, and tied up , or fenced in a yard we wouldn't have that problem.
11. What kind of dog do you have??? Is it very playful? What's the activity level is basically what I'm asking? lol. Well the reason I'm asking is this... My cousins have a yellow lab. The dog weighs 113 lbs, and is huge! I always bring Smokie (black lab) a toy when I go home. And I felt bad for Katie because she has no toys. So anyways the last couple times I've brought her a toy, and she could seriously careless about it. She'd rather be eating a treat. Now Smokie loves to eat but he'd much rather prefer a new toy! Smokie loves his toys to death. He must have 50 or more toys! Katie has the ones I bought her, I guess one she burried and the other is still on the garage floor. I just think it's odd she's so different compared to Smokie.. lol.

Vicious labradors?
I am shocked to come across you post - I was seriously bitten by a female black lab that I had known for years before the incident. Like you, I was under the impression that all (or most) Labs were non-aggressive. It is possible that people may be seeing more temperment problems with Labradors since they are a very popular breed. As popular dogs, many are being bred by people who might not be the most conscientious about genetics. In my specific case it seems the dog was not mentally stable due to inbreeding and she was IN HEAT (duh!! stupid owner...). She attacked me as I was walking away from her. A few months later she jumped out of a moving truck and died. She was a normal, intelligent, sweet dog during the first few years of her life, something just "snapped" when she was about 3 years old. I have a Pharaoh Hound/Pit Bull mix, so I am accutely aware of the "one bad apple spoils the bunch" theory about breeds, so I'm very cautious of thinking that Labs are all going to turn vicious. I would definately see what you can do about this particular dog in order to protect yourself, even if it means calling the police or animal control to knock some sense in to the owner. Good luck!
Yikes I know what you mean. My friends old Collie came after me and tried to bite me.. It actually did bite me just didn't break skin. I had been around this dog, forever, and it just turned viscious all the sudden. I have met other collies who were the sweetest dogs in the world, but I don't think I trust owning one.. or it would have to be one very special collie. lol.

Vicious labradors?
My neighbor has the most horrid black lab I have ever seen, extremely territorialy and dominantly aggressive. He has tried to start fights with my dog and he has threatened to attack me on my own land (which is a full 3 miles from his house)!! Everyone who goes by that house carries a huge stick because once this dog DID attack a jogger and he had to shove a branch down the dog's throat to get it off of him. Despite this, the owners STILL let the dog run around free. I used to think this was an isolated event because labs are supposed to be one of the sweetest natured dog breeds around, but lately I have been hearing that more and more aggressive labs are currently being produced. One person claimed that one third of the labs coming into her vet office were horribly aggressive. Is it true that the number of dangerously aggressive labradors has been increasing? ~Seij
Yikes, I'm sorry to hear about your neighbors aggresive black lab. That really stinks. I know that my Smokie is very tetorial, if another dog comes on our property, he usually wants nothing to do with it. However, if I take him for walks he just ignores other dogs. But saying this, My parents live next to a playground and I remember smokie saving kids from a doberman, once. I guess Smokie can be a little agressive but not like the dog your describing, Smokie loves people who pay attention to him. And ofcourse with our family he is the sweetest dog in the world... He loves to get hugs, and kisses! But I have seen some aggresive labs growing up too. It sucks how breeders breed dogs who shouldn't be bred.
14. Ohhh I completely forgot about this thread. I Agree with Seri what a beautiful dog! :( Thanks for the link, I actually have 2 breeds in mind already that i'm trying to decide from. I'm the biggest animal planet, freak out there! LOL! So ofcourse I already visited there.. :D But thanks so much!
15. I'm not exactly sure. I tried to do a search. I'm thinking a large bad of dog food would last at least two weeks? Not to sure. I have a black lab, who's about 65/70 lbs, and he gets a bowl in the morning, and a bowl in the late afternoon evening, and table scraps through out the day. He loves to eat! I'm thinking that pitbulls activity levels aren't as high, but I'm not sure so he may not seem as hungry as my dog.. lol.
16. Yeah, I think here that when you get your dogs liscense you have to give them a middle name. Smokie's is Lee, I believe. lol.
17. Smokie barks when he wants to come in, or there is another animal close by.. Smokie hates it outside, well, in the winter, but we live in Northern Michigan, so I don't blame him.. lol. It could just be with spring coming soon.. but maybe he smells a c@t or something, or just don't want to be outside anymore.
18. lol G Thanks Guys! I can't wait, in 5-6 hours I'm going to get to see my Smokie. I know pathetic hey, counting down hours, but I miss him so much !
19. I only see Smokie usually once or twice a month, over a day/two span. I live 3 hours away and go visit once a month. Everytime I go, I bring Smokie a toy. And he never forgets me.. He's always happy to see jumps on me, and he looks for his toy everytime! How good is a dogs memory? Just wonderiing.. I could tell he knows its me though.
20.
I understand...well, I tried! Oh, I found where you mentioned the Nova Scotia dog for you! Is that what you meant?
I think Maltese is still at the top of my list but does anything know anything about a Nova Scotia (I forget the rest) breed? I know it had a long name.
Keep us updated!
I swear I'm losing it, lol! I even looked for it, and didn't realize it..duh, me! lol.
21. Crystal thanks so much for the suggestions. I'm going to search all of them, and find one I think is perfect. I think I have personally fallin in love with maltese though, but I want to make an infromed decision. Sery, I'd love to do that but we don't get many young animals in the shelter, and me and my bf have agreed we want a puppy/puppy. And by living in a small apt, I wouldn't want to do that to a medium sized dog. I know my smokie, would not like apartment living, and plus the landlord would probably think the smaller the dog the better. As soon as we are able to move out and own our own house, that's all I plan to have is probably dogs from the shelter. A lot of the small dogs that come into the shelter too, from what I've seen have health problems, and are like 8/9 years old. There is a beautiful beagle mix in their now, that I'd love to have, but I really want to do my research on this. Did I mention the Nova Scotia Duck tolling retreiver somewhere? I can't find it, but that's weird becuase it was seriuosly on my list, until I found out that. They are beautiful dogs!
22. I really don't want anything c@t type. . I mean no offesnse to anyone who owns one, but I want a puppy that's all puppy! Seeing as I'm much more of a dog lover then c@t! Crystal, Brett has never been around animals... He only wants a c@t because it's 'smaller'. Right now he's more a fish and bird type person. Sometimes he's intimindated by smokie when we play fight, becasue he's a big dog (only 65-70lbs probably medium). Smokie growls and play bites(opens his mouth around my arm) and it scares him.. I think Maltese is still at the top of my list but does anything know anything about a Nova Scotia (I forget the rest) breed? I know it had a long name. I'm not so much digging the poodle suggestion. I just don't think that's the breed for us. If I found one I fell in love with ofcourse, but right now no. Sorry. So far poms and maltese are still at the top of my list.
23. Thanks, I'll keep that into consideration. I'm gonna do some research about them today. That's one of the reasonsn I want a smaller dog too, is because they live longer, and they can grow up with our future children. That's funny about your husband. Mine mans differen't, he's like can't we just have a cat? But he'll warm up to a dog I know he will.
