I saw that Resolve has a new specialized "pet stain formula" ... haven't tried it but the original is good... Good luck!

Oh gee, this is just so sad, you guys and your mom have been through too much already ... R.I.P. Billy, your mom and some littermates are waiting for you ...

Ride this rollercoaster and follow your heart ... they are the most beautiful and sweetest puppies! I wonder if your husband just is protecting your heart (and the kids and his too) by not saying anything yet ... until they are going too pull through for sure? What a rough time all of you have had, but just think if you had not have been there!

Aaaw, she was a cute little thing. R.I.P. Pep.

"Maltipoo" ?! Sounds like diarrhea. Seriously this SCBCA appears to be a front group for making people feel good about doing something unethical. Whether or not to breed EXISTING breeds responsibly is the consideration when we are in such a crisis of pet overpopulation. I say just let the very top most conscientious breeders perpetuate the breeds we already have, but for pete's sake don't go making "new breeds" at this time. I don't know how anyone can call that responsible, those that believe in it are heartless and/or have never set foot in a shelter. Of course that's just my opinion (but I'm right and if you disagree you're wrong! :evilbat: )

I figured Buddy's with a little trial and error and consultation with the vet. Started with 3/4 cup of innova twice a day, but then as he was picking and not seeming to really enjoy it I started adding a couple tablespoons (about 1/4 can) of innova canned to each meal and took the kibble down a bit, maybe 1/2 cup. He's 45 pounds but really needs to lose at least 5. Still it seems like very little food but it satisfies him, then there are the milk bones and bits of meat John gives him... (me give him treats? NEVER!)

I probably would start with the pound itself when they open tomorrow, then if they are unresponsive I would go over their heads (is it a government entity, then city council, or county commissioners?) If money is the problem maybe they would accept some volunteer help or some kind of fundraiser ... maybe you could help with that? Good luck, it's heartening to see someone who cares about the pound pups so much!

I don't know but would like to know too of a natural skin topical - not sure if it's a "hot spot" but Buddy has a spot where they shaved him for the HW treatment that is really flaky and itchy and the hair is not growing back as it should. We're going to the vet Thu. but in the meantime I second this, is there anything good for the "spots"?

DAL, he looks so happy he must think he died and went to heaven! Congrats!

Thanks everybody! Knowing you can make the pads last longer by throwing them in the dryer, and that I can use my own natural cleaner then I will try a swifter! Court, thanks for the pine recipe. Wish I'd have known sooner, there were some great cedars where we were camping last night but I can find something pine-y around here. K I loved the St. Bernard suggestion but John said no, can you imagine!? :P lkeffect "I LOVE what you're wearing, which dogs are those today?"

OK my problem this morning is minor by comparison here... but the hair is everywhere in my kitchen and my broom and mop just seem to move it around. Has anyone else found a good way to get hair up from linoleum (sp?) I was thinking of trying one of those swiffer things with the disposable head but it's kind of pricey, then you have to keep buying the sheets but still, if it would WORK... Or my B-day is coming up, mabe I could ask everyone to kick in for one of those all in one sweeper/washers. Any insight would be helpful.

TDG that Cornell link sure is interesting ... you rock the dog care world! Thanx.

That's GREAT!! LOL - Buddy and Gladysse (cat) both like to crowd you when you're "going", then they love to watch the water swirl (then we have to close the lid or they'll drink out of it of course!) :D

In my experience with Petsmart they are VERY good about returns and exchanges. That's so important ... if a retailer ever gives me a hard time about a return I will not step through their doors again.

I don't know what the official word is ... personally I've had too much bad experience with rawhide bones with adult dogs (messing with their digestive systems) so I wouldn't give them to dogs or puppies. I give beef marrow bones from the butcher (sometimes packaged as "soup bones") as an ocassional treat. Sometimes tricky to find them not too big or too small. Then freeze the ones I'm saving for later. P.S. - Welcome to dogo!

:D
decorative ceramic dog dishes with pawprint designs: $1 or stainless steel dishes: $1 plushy squeaky toys: $1 decorative collars and leashes with pawprint designs: $1 each
Ohhh HF this could be like one of those Mastercard commercials ... the punchline, "Ten dogs giving you slobbery kisses ... priceless." I love the dollar store, my latest thing is these great sunglasses they have (and at $1 each I could afford three!)

YAY! Big Kiss back, Eli!, Kiss Kiss!!

Have to qualify something I said before - I don't ahve a problem with every case of buying a dog, like if you have serious intentions (showing, trials, etc.) and buy from a responsible breeder. It's just the casual "think I'll go out and buy me a dog" that tweaks me. And I know there's nobody here doing that!!!

Me again ... I was trying to think what I would try home remedy wise and it came to me ... green tea bags. Do you have any? If so I'd try it ... soak the bags briefly in hot water and just hold against the inlammed area ... Green tea has soothing, anti-inflammatory and antibiotic properties. (My company sells it and so I have written about and researched it). It couldn't hurt ....
