1. I can understand why you fell for that one. :D What a cutie. Good Luck.
2. After my boy Rakhan got used to wearing his halti I trained him to "get dressed" I would put it over his muzzle with food I would encourge him to put his head in saying get dressed and after awhile I could get him to "get Dressed", It was easier than struggling to try and put it on a dog that was fighting against it. :D
3. I don't envy anyone that has to deal with the public in there workplace as there are many d*** heads in the world. Some lovely dogs there hope they find there forever homes soon.
4. A crate is a great investment. Our pups were paper trained and one that we kept to have desexed before sending off to her new home slept inside. She would sleep in the crate in the laundry and I would leave the crate door open so she could come out. In the morning she would have messed on the paper so the following night I shut the crate and not another mess, as dogs like to keep there sleeping quarters clean, they dont like to mess in it. I would take her out before bed and walk around saying GO TOILLY GO TOILLY and when she did lots of praise. Once they understand what is expected of them they learn. Remember puppies or dogs cant open the door we can so when they do mess its because we havent taken them out. GOOD LUCK :D
5. Our girl charlie was house trained then started wetting in the house had her to the vet and yes she did have an UTI. Let us know how you get on.
6. Having used a halti on my Rottie, I have to agree with rotten two about walking without the halti attached for the first few days so he gets used to having it over his muzzle without any tention. Good luck
7. When I was young and silly I bought this big leather studded collar for my rottweiler, it was not really heavy. He never wore it as it was to big, so it was a waste of money. Now when I think back I laugh at the thoughts that must have been going through my mind to buy it in the first place.
8. :D Congrats and good luck with your beautiful babies. :D
9. Unreal....Its amazing what our furry friends can do.....
10. GREAT NEWS!!!!! Glad you have him home :D
11. He is just beautiful, wish I could help, hopefully he finds his forever home soon.
12. Rowie-the-Pooh wrote
The people next door to my friend fell so in love with their dog (Valentino) that they went and got a Lab puppy, too. Thing is, they didn't expect their girl (Lily) to be so hyper. Well, duuh, she is a puppy!
I think the thing about Labs is people see them as guide dogs, customs dogs etc and think "I want a dog like that". Labs are intelligent and there fore are bored more easily.(not saying other dogs arn't intelligent) A common saying is that they stay pups for about 5 years. As with all dogs training is recommened, and for people to realise that a lot of time and training goes into making a "guide dog". They arn't just born like that.
13. our Doberman was a gulper and we found that scattering the food around or using a tray instead of a bowl she couldnt scoop as much food in at one time this worked for us.
14. Dont feel bad, you have to do what is right for yourself and the dog. :)
15. When we were growing up our parents got a lab pup from the pound. There were 2 pups there that had come to the pound after there mother was left locked in a shed with puppies, once the r.s.p.c.a found them the mother was near death (had to be put to sleep) and pups not great. We brought Toby into our home and he was great with the family, outside of this he was nervous, aggressive and we were fearful that he would bite someone. As he matured he got worse and was also jumping a six foot fence to escape, my mum was always worried when he was out and after he almost bit a child (put his mouth over her head but didnt actually bite) Mum took him in to be put down. Once in the vets the vet nurse came out and said "whats this beautiful boy here for? shots?" Mum repiled no I have brought him in to have him put to sleep. The woman went off and said how could you bring such a beautiful dog in to be put down I'll leave you to think about that. Mum sat there in tears as he was great with the family and it was a very difficult dicission. But he could not be trused with strangers, the lady came back and took him away as she led him through the door he got really aggressive started snarling and growling a pee-ed all over the place. Afterwards she came out a apologised to my mum and said "I DIDN'T THINK LABS COULD BE LIKE THAT". Now I am going back around 20 years ago, SO YES LABS CAN BE AGGRESSIVE. No dog no matter how much you think you can trust them should ever be unsupervised around children.
16. Its always hard when you lose that special friend, harder when other people cant see your pain. When we lost our belovered rottie JAKE, a workmate said why are you upset he was only a dog. Well this upset me even more as most of you would know, HE WASNT JUST A DOG HE WAS OUR BABY. My husband (boyfriend at he time) had bought him for my 18th birthday and as we didnt have children he went everywhere with us. This was years ago and I still get sad when I think of him. So dont feel bad about your feelings and it is natural to compere your old dog with your new but just try to see that Carson is different and thats ok, he to will become your special dog.
17. :D Some very lovely looking dogs here. Thanks for shareing
18. Our rottie (now passed) suffered from hot spots, It took a while to figure out the cause but we did. The first one appeared after a bbq and at first I thought that some fat had spilled on his neck. Trip to the vet revilled a nasty hot spot which grew before our eyes this was treated in much the same manner as you discribe, shaved, meds (antis, cort) scub area with salt water dry area then scub with iodine, dry area then apply neotopic H which I think is a antiseptic type cream. After more trips to the vet for repeted hot spots and trying to figure out any contriputing factors, It was after another bbq that I realised that friends had throwen the dog the scraps (snags etc) from then on I cut out all known preservities and feed a diet of Bonnie dry food (based on Kangaroo meat with no added colours, flavours) apart from this he had home cooked stews (chicken and vegies) I would tell friends not to give him any thing without asking first and we were very careful with what we fed him. He would still have the odd flare up but nothing like our weekly visits to the vet, these could be managed at home with the iodine scubs and the neotopic H. Good luck and I hope you get to the bottom of you dogs hot spots.
19. 8) Just uploaded some 5 week old puppy pics to my site, The pups are all doing really well and getting bigger and even more beautiful. Feel free to take a look at www.freewebs.com/noteabull/ :)
20. :( Sorry he is sold :( lol I do agree he is just beautiful, well they all are. I will just add a piece that I replied to in another topic on What is an Aussie Bulldog. They were developed in the 1990's buy Noel and Tina Green along with Pip Nobes here in Australia to have a dog clearly of bull dog type more suited to the Australian conditions. Based on British Bulldog, Bullmastiff, Boxer and small percentage of Staffy then concentrating entirely on mating Aussie Bulldog to Aussie Bulldog with most successful results. The Aussie Bulldog is a recognized Breed within the eyes of the general public, but they are not yet registered with the ANKC as a pedigreed breed. They come with a certificate for the documentation of their ancestry. And it is hoped that one day they will become a registered breed. There is a great website dedicated to the Aussie Bulldog breeders, owners and enthusiasts feel free to check it out, it is www.aussiebulldogsunited.com

23. I have a new 2 and 1/2 year old Aussie Bulldog and would like some tips on increasing his appitite. I currently feed good quiality dry food with fresh mince I then add either Vegies/pasta/rice/cereals/yoghurt and eggs etc, He isnt really to interested. His previous owner fed dry food and I have tryed this alone and still not much luck. He is slightly under weight so is eating something, I also have a female in pup so I am trying to keep an eye on who's getting what. I tryed seperating them but then they both wouldnt eat, Now I feed her tired up so they think that they are eating together but she cant eat his food. Could it be that they are just so in love with each other "LOL". Any advice would be appriceated.

What is an Aussie Bulldog Deafaussielover wrote:
I was about to ask the same thing... are you breeding Australian Shepherds and Bulldogs or are you just In Austraila and breeding Bulldogs?? i'm confused ?!
The Aussie bulldog is a relitivly new breed of dog created in Australia, more suited to the Australian Conditions. In the beginning it was Created by selectivly breeding British bulldogs, Staffortdshire bullterrier and bullmasstiff. Then breeding Aussie to Aussie. Yes a cross breed and this is how all breeds started out, I do agree that why are people breeding more dogs when there are so many in shelters. I also believe there are responseable breeders out there who will do the right thing and only breed healthy stable dogs that will be placed in loving homes. I have always had Purebreed registered dogs untill being interduced to the Aussie Bulldog. They have great Temperments, Health is improved for those after the bulldog look and they make wonderful companions. I have a litter due in two weeks and I have 6 people on my waiting list. Unforunitly there are people out there jumping on the bandwagon thinking of making a quick buck and not breeding for the better of the breed. As with all breeds we can thank these people for the many dogs found in shelters, the Aussie bulldog should come with a certificate of ancestry and all dogs that are a part of the breeding program are registered through the UABA. I hope that this clears up a few of the Questions being asked on this site about Aussie Bulldogs. Feel free to veiw the United Aussie Bulldog Web Site there you will see what we are all about.www.aussiebulldogsunited.com You can also veiw my web page athttp://members.dodo.net.au/~greghickey
