I've heard of quite a few dogs getting their collars stuck on something, either another dogs teeth or a crate or whatever. a friend on another board had a choke chain on her DDB and he layed down on the deck and when he went to get up his collar was stuck so he freaked and strangled himself more and he almost died before his owner came outside and realized what was happening.. another friends 2 pit bulls were playing and one dog got his teeth stuck on the collar so of course they both freaked...the one dog who was choking starting turning purple before the owners could calm the dogs down and cut the collars off. collar strangulation is pretty common these days. i think the break safe collars are a very good idea and I would like to get all of my dogs ones...someday when i can afford it *I* keep collars on my dogs almost 24/7 because 5 of them will bolt as soon as a door opens :evil: and since my idgit family cant seem to close a door/gate 75% of the time, i feel it's safe for them to have collars and ID on at almost all times...

*stomps feet and whines* i've always wanted a landseer!!!!!!!! :cry: it's pretty rare to find one in rescue..at least around me i dont agree with the high adoption fee though, i think it should be the same no matter what the breed of dog

my neighbors dog is the same way :o it's a lil dachsund and it barks all fricken day long :evil: i think the lady brings it inside sometimes but i'm not sure cause i've heard it barking in the middle of the night too

IMO it'd definately be better to get a doggie door. If you let him pee/poop in his crate now then he'll never be housetrained and it'll be a big problem later on down the road. not sure where you back door is but if it's near a room then perhaps block that room off from the rest of the house when you leave, incase of those rainy days, so he doesnt ruin all of your stuff when he gets muddy :lol:

thats not necessarily true....some dogs "shoot blanks" when they are older.. if you would have gotten your dog fixed then you wouldnt even be wondering if she was pregnant or not take her to the vet and have x rays done to see if there are puppies she could be pregnant or she could be going through a flase pregnancy.. get your dog fixed!!

I am going to grooming school in aurora,IL in either [b]january or february[/b] if everything goes right...and I need foster homes for 3 of my dogs... ozzy is staying with a good friend in WI and maggie,keesha and eli will be staying here so that leaves barkley,sheeba and shadow the school is only a 14 WEEK course, so it's not that long of a time....they could stay here but i really dont trust my brother to care for them properly and make sure nothing bad happens... normally my mom would be here to care for them but she is traveling with my dad for work... Shadow,sheeba and barkley all can jump a 4 foot fence, so they have to be on a tie out or walked or someone with a 6 ft fence.... they get along with other cats and dogs and children.... We would pay for food and toys and heartworm/flea prevention and anything else they would need..... we are in central IL but i can transport them to anywhere within 7-8 hours probably.... if anyone can help me..let me know.. anyone who wants to call me a bad dog owner or whatever...go ahead but i shall not respond nor care :D i'm going to school so I can get a job, get a house and KEEP my dogs, i just need some help for the 14 weeks I would be in school... i'm posting this now so I can get an early start on it and not have to worry at the last second[/b]

i'm home all day since i'm a loser :lol: but when I leave, shadow is put in the crate and sheeba and keesha are tied up(attach leashes to anything stable lol it's my only option until i get more crates) and barkley and ozzy and of course maggie are allowed free rome of the house

That attitude is what prevents alot of good homes from adopting dogs so they just go out and buy a pup from a BYB :( seriously sometimes i'd love to smack some rescuers and tell them to wake the hell up. i know all rescues arent like that but some of them really need to get off their high horse if they think that is too long between potty breaks then do they get up in the middle of the night to let their dogs out or something? cause normal people sleep at least 8 hours, wouldnt want the poor pooch to have to wait that long :roll: i really cant stand that board, it's there to talk about homeless animals yet all they do is put people down and the admin does nothing about it. they think they are all high and mighty or some crap

we're plannin on having our own party. ozzy is going to be the same thing he is every year :oops: cause i'm poor like that :lol: he's a jail dog...but me and my cousin and my brother are doing wizard of the oz so ozzy is going to be our toto who got in trouble with the law for selling drugs and dorothy is going to be dead in eli's kennel cause she ratted "toto" out so "toto" had her killed by the mob(eli lol). :evilbat: :evilbat: :lol: :lol: the rest of the dogs will most likely be locked in my room upstairs because it gets a bit too crowded in here with 6 dogs and a bunch of people :lol: and i would have to worry about them bolting out the door if someone left it open..i dont have to worry about that with ozzy cause he doesnt bolt [b]i just saw that you guyz are doing wizard of the oz too :evil: :lol: i'm going as the lion, my cousin is going as the scarecrow and my brother is gonna be the tin man[/b]
