  1. Ok as some of you already know I don't have a dog currently but yesterday, Rowie, Deez, and I went to the shelter andI saw the CUTEST golden retriever and saluki mix dog! I FELL IN LOVE WITH HER!!!! Her name is DiZzY!!! And it suits her! Her coat is a beige-ish with JUST the right tint of golden!!! She's not aggressive at ALL, just a little playful.. And When I left her, she started crying (whining) and it just BROKE my heart!!! All it took was that one story about how she whined when i left her, to convince my mom to come and see her tommorow! YAAY :D But I'm not sure if she IS the right one for me... What do you guys think I should do?
  2. A friend of mine has a great dane called Cheetah, SHE IS HUGE!!!! Its interesting though, yesterday at the shelter I saw two puppies that were a Great Dane and something else mix, they wer adorable! They looked like Mini versions of my Cheetah!

  6. I was just surfin the web and I found some Info on how to, Exercise, Groom, and Feed Shih-Tzus, coming from someone with experience! EXERCISE: Shih Tzu's are one of the most adaptable dogs I have ever known. They love to go for walks, but are just as content staying home and playing in the house. Boeghi gets so much exercise from playing with our Husky. They chase each other around the house endlessly. Around the kitchen, around the coffee table, up on the couch, down the hallway, onto the bed..... It is great fun watching them. Boeghi also loves lots and lots of lap time with my husband and I. He defines the term "lap dog." Another thing that he absolutely loves to do is go for car rides. Everytime anyone leaves the house, he begs to go with - ready and willing every single time. I feel bad when I can't bring him along. He is a great passenger in the car too. He likes to look out the window sometimes, but mostly seems interested in sleeping or cuddling on a lap. The one very important thing you need to remember is that Shih Tzus must not be left in the hot weather for very long - whether he's outside or in a car. They can die from overheating, so be very careful to monitor your Shih Tzu! TEMPERAMENT: Fun, alive and alert are the best adjectives to describe a Shih Tzu. They are good watchdogs - they will bark when they hear someone come to the door or when they hear any noises that are out of the ordinary. But they are not high strung at all. They do very well when they are left at home. I leave toys for Boeghi when I'm gone, but it doesn't appear as though he plays with them - I think there is a lot of horse play that goes on between he and my Huskies when they are home alone. They are content if you play with them, and just as content if you want some quiet time. What more could you ask for from a furry friend? Young children, however, should be watched closely when in contact with a Shih Tzu, as they do have a tendency to be a bit nippy. Boeghi does great with my 5 year old stepson, but I think that is the exception, not the rule. Boeghi also loves anything soft - clothes, sheets, blankets, etc. He works hard to do a little circle dance around whatever he wants to sleep on in order to ball it up and form a pillow for himself. Very clever. TRAINING: Boeghi was relatively well trained when we first adopted him, so I can't comment on this section from personal experience. However, from my reading, I gather that Shih Tzu's learn very quickly. They are extremely intelligent dogs. The training goes along with the rest of their personality - if you want to teach them some tricks, then that's great with them. If not, that is great with them, too. As with any breed, it is always recommended that you take your dog to obedience school. Not only will they learn a lot there, but it is also a great way to socialize your dog. GROOMING: One topic that cannot be overlooked with a Shih Tzu are the grooming requirements. First and foremost, they generally do need to be bathed more often than other breeds. Comb out any tangles before putting your dog in the bath. Remember to put a piece of cotton ball in each ear to keep water from getting in there (if water gets down in the ear canal, infections can grow). Some recommend bathing Shih Tzus on a weekly basis, however a bath every other week works out great with Boeghi. On a daily basis, I take a wet washcloth and gently wipe around his face, especially focusing on the eye areas making sure that all the gunk is removed. The coat needs to be maintained - either by a lot of brushing and trimming or else by a trained groomer. You can cut the hair very short or have your groomer cut it into the latest style. Pulling the hair back off of the face onto the top of the head is also recommended, otherwise all that hair falls in their eyes blocking vision. 7. MOVE OVER JHON TRAVOLTA!! That Golden totally kicks butt when it comes to moves on the dance floor!!! Goldens RULE!!!
  8. My Auntie's Terrier slept on her laptop once, when he'd gotten up he'd left an INTERESTING souvenir there...
  9. Interesting point there, that he eats anything even remotely edible. My last Dog Polo, (a Pomeranian) was the exact opposite... Up till he was 6 months old he was SO picky in food! He only ate bread, and milk, and simple things like that. Once we tried giving him Pedigree Biscusts and he Threw up! That just goes to show you, Canned foods and commercial Kibble, aren't all that good! -Nadooshkinz
  10. I can't WAIT to get a dog!!!!! For the time being though it's nice to "oooh" and "awww" at your adorable little doggies woggies! :D -Nadooshkinz
  11. Well this isn't a professional opinion here but how 'bout if you try to contact someone who owns a Shi-tzu or bought a Shi-Tzu from that breeder, then ask them if they too are experiencing the same type of problems, or similar problems... And I also recommend that you change your vet, despite the fact that they are from a highly regarded Vetinary Clinic. I hope your dog gets better soon! :D -Nadooshkinz
