  1. Congratulations, sounds like you had lots of fun.
  2. ohhhh she looks lovely. Congratulations
  3. Hope this isn't a too much of a stupid question, but just wondering what the different is between BARF and RAW. I have read a bit on BARF and know that it is Bones And Raw Food. Is RAW just ommiting the bones?
  4. In Shannon's post it states that the punishment for some people is a life ban on owning animals or 25 year ban etc..... while this is a good start it is not enough. These people need to be hit with BIG fines, ie $10,000.00 These people don't care if they never get to own a pet. As they are doing what they are doing for money they need to be hit in the hip pocket.
  5. :( poor baby, give her a cuddle from me.

    CGS Test

    Congratulations. :laola: That is fantastic.
  7. I just love reading stories like everyone has just posted. Luckily we don't have any horror stories just yet. Apart from having a fetish for socks Indy hasn't really chewed anything he isn't supposed to. The only thing he has done is eaten the last two pages of a book my B/F was reading. Although not that major he was quite annoyed because those two pages tied the whole story together and now he doesn
  8. I think dogs pick up on people's attitude towards them. Indy knows who he can get away with stuff with and who he can't. When my parents come to visit he does exactly what my Dad tells him to do because he knows my Dad won't take any crap, however he is very naughty for my Mum because he knows she won't inforce any of the rules.
  9. Not long now, the weekend in half over. Let us know how you went on Monday. Don't worry about her going to someone else, I'm sure the current owner could tell how genuine you were and how much you wanted her, two day's shouldn't make a difference.
  10. Hugs and licks to Duchess. I know it is a bit worrying because she is not her normal self but it its good that she is calm and taking it easy, that way you don't have to worry about her ripping the stiches.
  11. Behle, that is so true. My boyfriend used to use the computer so much I used to tease him and call him a computer nerd LOL. Now the tables have turned and boy does he pay out on me. Good thing we have two computers so we can tap away at the keyboards together :P
  12. Welovedis, sounds like you are doing the right thing. It might take a bit of time though. The only other thing I can suggest is to give him LOTS of praise and fuss over when he goes outside.

Booties - that is so cute :D
  14. Got to admit the thing I love most about Mals is the way they vocalise. Sometimes Indy sounds so much like Chewbacca that I swear my boyfriend has the Star Wars DVD on :P
  15. Congratulations, she sounds like a wonderful dog. Hope the weekend doesn't go too slow for you.
  16. Good luck Pumpkin. Make sure you let us all now how you do.
  17. I think there needs to be a happy medium. Originally I didn’t want to use the GL or Halti as I felt that by using either of them it meant that I wasn’t training Indy properly. Well, at 8 months he weighs 40kg (88lb) is extremely strong. He can almost pull me off my feet if I am not ready, and he is only going to get bigger and stronger. Like Alicat’s baby he is fine on a flat collar as long as we don’t see any other dogs but when we do he goes nuts, and this really takes the enjoyment out of taking him for a walk. So we now use the Halti and don’t have any problems. I am hoping that as he gets a bit older he will not get so hyper at the sight of other dogs but until that happens I think we will need to keep using the Halti. I definitely agree that these tools shouldn’t be used as a crutch but……. there are a lot of dog owners out there who only do the right thing by their dog if it’s convenient for them. I.E. before the days of GL’s or Halti’s if a dog pulled to much these people would just not walk them at all because it was too hard. At least with the introduction of these the dogs are getting walked.
  18. Welcome I have an eight month old Alaskan Malamute.
  19. What do you mean exactly by whines? Malamutes are VERY vocal and this is perfectly nomal. If Indy doesn't get his own way he throws a tantrum or talks back to me :)
  20. he he he he.... that is so cute, I can't help but have a giggle
  21. I agree, that sounds like a hard situation. Do you normally have any contact with your neighbours - if not I agree with Behle, people with tempers like that generally don't like being told what to do (though we know you only have the dog's best interests at heart, they may not see it that way). I don't really know, but maybe try offering some advice casually in conversation, otherwise apart from calling the relevant authorities you are kind between a rock and a hard place :(

    What a thoughtful idea
  23. Unfortunatly I'm not sure about quantity for a pit bull, but while they are still a puppy I would definitley split it into three meals a day.
