1. now her sire would be INbred while the bitch would be LINEbred. which would make the bitch in question inbred due to her sharing Garrett's floyd so close. Did that make sense to anyone else? :)
2. this is one of them. not a dog i could buy but i just want to get a feel of what is to close. it seems to me in the APBT world In/Line breeding is a common thing. which alot of breeders aren't to clear in explaining why they did it that way. It's almost like they are trying to keep the recipe secret. http://www.apbt.online-pedigrees.com/public/printPedigree.php?dog_id=51115
3. Right hobbit what you said. let me look for the link that makes me ask this question.
4. just a question: if a dog has the same sire or dam for grandparents or greatGparents would that be inbreeding? keep in ming that the parents were outcrossed.
5. This could help you more than I. http://www.doggiedoor.com/
6. Hobbit is an intelligent, open minded, and passionate person. When he says something about genetics or working dogs i've found him to be right.I'm sure of his knowledge and this is a public forum so people will post whatever they want, whether you like it or not. I'm sorry MiniA if you feel you've been attacked but that just tells me you are overly sensitive and have no room for anything new to be processed. I am not a breeder nor do i claim to know everything because noone does. We all love our dogs, hopefull not only because they are purebreed papered status symbols, because alot of us have mutts. My APBT my not be full blood, i'll never know, i rescued him, he looks full blooded but with the Pit Bull line it is easy to mix it and not lose the look of a APBT. truth be told most APBT i've seen are poor examples of the breed, either to heavy, to blocky, to stout. do I love Lecter any less if he's a mutt? NO. But than again I didn't pay a large amount of money for a dog whose status was important to me, or was marketed as something he is not. The only thing he cost me was a butt load of time, love, and understanding. and the things he gives me are far more important than Papers, Championships, and Bloodlines. THAT IS WHAT IS TRULY IMPORTANT.
7. just my 2cents but about human inbreeding 60% of world cultures it is not uncommon to marry your 1st cousin and a child of such a union only has a .008% chance of being abnormal compared to "normal" children. genetics like all sience and medical fields is a practise. I believe whether it be human or canine it all boils down to SELECTIVE breeding.
8. Kudos !!!! Are you gonna keep any pup for yourself?
9. It all depends on the dog club your a member of. Here in the US the ADBA has weightpull comps but your dog has to be reg but can be fixed that doesn't matter. Purina sponsors agility comps over here where the dogs can be mutts, fixed, disabled,or pure bred breeding stock doesn't matter. For me because Lec doesn't have papers we will pull in the IWPA comps. we also have local clubs by region and state where regular people take the dogs and play against each other. you lose the fame and glory of being a national champion but everyone in your circle knows you have great dog and you can still brag. But i know nothing about Finnland.

wonderful wonderful. but did you see my question of ethics? My point is REPUTATION. something i'm sure all breeders strive for. but my be i'm wrong, so what's your kennels name? legality be d*mn, i already agreed it was legal, but ethical, i still say NO.

True but then if you found out the other kennel was already established, would you still go on using the name? saying "oh well, i really like the name cause i'm a wrestling fanatic"

Anyone know why someone would remove the posts they wrote?

I don't believe they NEED to be reg kennel names but they work on reputation. let me make up an example. There is a famous breeder of APBT called Hall and I believe his kennel is named after him. If I started a kennel named Hall as well I would be using his reputation to futher my dogs. legal maybe but ethical? no. not in my opinion.

When it comes to a business you can most certainly copyright the name. and if I started a kennel and called it Bobby Hall. i'd get my *ss handed to me. in this world one of the few things we have is our reputation. why ruin the only thing that is ever truly ours?

OH and on a personal note when you getting around to ruining these breeds my pit bull rehab/ sanctuary will be up an running. so when all your mutts need to be rehomed due to "problems" i'll be glad to take them. AND RR are NOT UGLY!!!!!!!!!

Great posts everyone not much i can add here except. TIMWHATEVER can't afford a good stock animal tostart his own kennel and doesn't have the knowledge to improve any breed. so timwhateveritsnameis will jump on the band wagon of BYB making a buck. and fufill whatever is lacking in his/her selfesteem, self image, misdirected mind. JMHO which you ASKED for.

It doesn't matter who had the name first; what matters is who the name is registered to. I could pee in a bottle and call it pepsi but that don't mean it is.
18. What I think is funny both of you got the same forward or spam mail. I wonder how many degrees separate you two?
19. I have a 3 year old daughter and a 1.5 year old pit and I tell you I will never own another breed of dog again. He is excellent with her. He is a loving family dog that is happy to see and met everyone.
20. Love it!! now if only dogs could read..........
21. Yes post a photo we love this guessing game. If your worried about your kids my advice to you is let them help with the training if they are old enough. I have a almost 1.5 yrs pit bull and a soon to be 3 yrs old daughter. She gives him simple comands, sit and easy when he takes his treat from her, this helps to establish her above him in the pecking order.
22. In my situation i have to use metal. Lec is such a strong chewer he'd destroy anything else. I'd like to use a soft travel crate for when we travel and camp but i'm scared to try right now, maybe in a few months.
23. I wouldn't put non metal in an auto- clave might melt. but i'd check into that blue solution in human hair salons.
24. I don't know it's just been too easy lately. all of a sudden Lec developed any attention span longer than 2 minutes. we've been working hard at obedience and he past this test like a grad sudent. I was amazed all the new people, new place and other dogs but he stayed on me like white on rice. Kinda like when you go some place and your human kids are perfect angels but when their home.... (fill in the blank)
