1. I just bought a clicker on wednesday and I've started to teach both Ben and Bella with it. The original idea was to try and see if I could get Ben more confident and not as scared of cars, bikes, people passing him on the street, dogs, cats, sneezing, hickups, koughing... well you get the idea. I'm still in the "teach what click means" and both Ben and Bella think it's really the best time they've ever had with anyone. First Ben was even scared of the clicker and I must say I'm glad that I took the multi-clicker with adjustable sound volume. If I click with full volume, he runs out of the room and hides under the bed. (and that's just one click) Bella couldn't care less even if I'd click with full volume a millimeter from her ear. She doesn't care if it's a big sound or a small sound as long as she gets her treat. Well anyway... When do you think I should start with the "sound exersices" (coughing, sneezing etc.) with Ben and how should I do it? And how can I teach him to pass other dogs nicely in the street without him getting scared?

Pet Abortion

I must say that when it comes to abortion I'm a little indiffirent with humans. It depends on what kind of life the baby would end up to live in. If the baby would live with parents that are drug addicts, alcoholists etc. or if the parents have little to no money NOW imagine what the financial stuff will be like AFTER the baby... so in those conditions I'm 110% pro-abortion. But when it's just a misstake and the expected life for the child would be good then I vote NO. When it comes to dogs... I'm pro aborting! Period. If you haven't planned on a litter CAREFULLY - ABORT! No questions asked. Sure puppies are cuddly, wonderfull and adorable, but they need a lot of love, care and attention and the breeder of the litter needs a LOT of money to care for the feedings, vaccinations, worm medication, health check ups, possible c-section.... the list goes on... So if you're not 200% sure you have it all coverd from time to money, I say no puppies and if the litter is a mistake then ABORT! No ifs, no buts!
3. Well I don't know if I'll be able to take the little thing because of my allergies... As I understand they do shed, plus that I haven't really got any experience with doberman pinchers so I don't know if I'm allergic to them or not (some breeds cause more allergies for me then others). Still... that was the first thought that popped into my head when I read that text. When we go out we have TWO steps from the door to the ground and back. No more steps anywhere. There's two kind of planks or what you call them below two doors but those rooms are the two bathrooms. And the doggy would be free to run outside and and... hmm... what more? A medium sized house with room to spare for one more dog (actually in my eyes we have PLENTY of room for 10+ dogs, but don't tell that to my parents).
4. I wonder if it's possible to get him shipped to Finland? :-?
5. Thanks! :D Well... I did manage to make a fool out of myself too... But it's still in the funny way you know? Not in the embaressed way. But isn't it healthy when you can laugh (and I mean laugh in the roll-on-the-floor-laughing kind of way) at yourself?

Crested movie

I don't like this one bit! (sorry everyone) Cresteds DO need special care and you can't just buy them and think they're going to stay hairless just like that. For Bella to be 100% hairless on her body I have to shave her every other day (But I don't care if she has a little hair so I shave her like every 1-2 weeks). Ben on the other hand can be hairless for a week before you can start to see small hairs here and there (he's a true hairless so he doesn't need that much shaving or anything). So Bella is the hairyest of my two and she isn't even remotely as hairy as MANY other Cresteds. And just by looking at that one picture I can see that THAT crested has a lot more hair then Bella. AND her ears have been shaved. (I've done that with Bella too for a while, but I've started to try and grow the hair back now) Powder Puffs again need care too. Daily grooming and they allso need to get their face shaved (not completely hairless but a bit) so that their face isn't totally fluffy. I bathe my two about once a week... once every two weeks TOPS! Sure it's nice to see Cresteds in movies and TV shows but there are a lot of homeless Cresteds allready especially in the US because of puppy mills. Guess if this movie becomes a hit how many MORE homeless Cresteds that will make and how many Cresteds will end up in Mills because they are the new cool thing! Aargh! Sorry... this thing just makes me mad. As far as I know there are now three movies with a Crested. 102 Dalmatians How to loose a guy in 10 days and now this. This is NOT a good thing for the breed...
7. I'm so, so, SO sorry!! *hugs* I've got tears in my eyes imaging how it would feel if I'd lost either Ben or Bella. And I get tears especially from imaging Boomer. Poor little thing. I know this might sound harsh or horrible, but mabye a new dog would be good for poor Boomer? I mean... If he's never been the only dog that might help him. The new doggy would ofcourse be no replacement for Holly, but mabye a way to make the greaving a little bit easier for Boomer. RIP Holly! I will light a candle for you tonight!
8. Thank you Kiwi and Malamum! Kiwi: Yeah... I think I've been bitten by the showing bug... The next real official show isn't for a couple months, but a couple unoficial shows (match shows) are headed this way and I'm going there. I have never heard of tapes like these... I know there is one short tape about the breed that costs a little to rent, but not about showing. :o
9. Thank you all!! :D Mouse: Yes, I handled her and it was horrible from my part. First I was supposed to walk a circle with her on my left side. Ok... so I first headed the wrong way and went a small circle. So the judge had to tell me to go around the WHOLE ring. Ok... so I did that. Then I had to lift her up on the table and then I didn't know where to stand and be. Ok well that went ok. Bella let him check her teeth beautifully and let him pet her (he checked the skin that way). Then I had to lift her down and walk back and forth and then keep her standing in one place. First I was too close to the judge so he told me to go further away. And then he told me to go to a table with the secretary and get the paper with his oppinion on it. And then I allso got the two bows. And I was like: :o DID I DO WELL?! And the judge allso told me that the dog is exellent, but that I should learn how to show her. And then Mirja-Leena asked me when I was about to leave if I've got the cup allready. WHAT CUP?!?! :o So then she and her husband came with me to check out the table with the cups. So first of all it was a shock to me that she won with ME showing her! And secondly it was a shock to me that she got a CUP and TWO bows! Abker: Cresteds come in ALL colours. So they can have many diffirent colors and colour combinations. ;-) Oh... and I nearly forgot... I took another pic yesterday before I went to sleep with her and here it is:
10. And here's what the judge said about her: "An appealing puppy. Good head and expression. Sufficient neck. Good body. A little steep in the croup. Good legs and paws. Good Crest. Moovs with good enough step length, a little unstable in the front. " And the pic... It's a bad one I know...
11. Yup! BOB puppy! I didn't even go there to win. I just went to have fun and came home with a small cup and two bows. I must say that I couldn't have done that without Mirja-Leena and Ismo S
12. Thank you all! We came back a while ago and with good results. BOB and the honour prize. She was the only puppy there but apparently that makes no diffirence. So I must say I'm happy and very proud of my tired little girl. I'm totally exhausted too, so I'll go and get some sleep and send some pictures here a little later!
13. My favourite dogs in alphabetical order: American Hairless Terrier Chinese Crested (hairless & powder puff) Peruvian Inca Orchid aka. Perro Sin Pelo Del Peru aka. Peruvian Hairless(hairless & powder puff) Xoloizuintli aka. Mexican Hairless Dog (hairless and powder puff) Oh, did I mention I like hairless dogs?
14. I'm going with Bella to our first real dog show tomorrow in Vaasa. (eep! :o ) Pretty exited about that. I've only taken part in one Match Show but this is totally diffirent. There will be a total of about 1500 dogs there and 8 Chinese Cresteds. Bella's competing in the puppy class. She's in heat but apparently she can still compete, so I'll take several breeders word for it. It's 1AM now and I have to wake up at six. So it will be about 5 hours of sleep. But the way I feel right now... My guess is 2-3 hours of sleep in total. (sigh) Wish us luck! I'll give you the news tomorrow on how it went. (and I'm taking my camera with me ;-))
15. Thanks... Ben's especially happy she's back. ;-)
16. Congratulations!!! We all want to see pics soon!! :D
17. I thought I'd say.... HAPPY EASTER TO EVERYONE AT DOGO!!
18. Haha, well Annushka... You never know. :evilbat: Mum's still a bit sick, so I'm helping around still with the laundry, food, dogs etc. She was pretty impressed of how clean I had kept the house. (Yay me!) Ben's guarding her now and don't want her to go outside even for five minutes. It's pretty sweet and cute to watch. As far as Ben's concerned - Mum is HIS mum now 110% and especially Bella has to be atleast a foot length from her. The news was ok though... she's got some small tumors, but they seem to be good natured, so no problem there. They took small pieces of the lumps and sent them to the lab, so we'll know more soon. She's still got some more tests to do next month, so she'll be one night away that time too...
19. Well. mom's coming home today. Actually dad went to pick her up already. Mom's always said that she'd like to see the household I'm running when I grow up as I'm "pretty" messy and piles of paper and stuff on tables don't bother me. So... I've been making extra effort on the fact that she doesn't have to do anything when she comes back. I've made the beds, made food, cleaned up after myself, cleaned my room from top to bottom, taken care of my niece and nephiew yesterday and checking their blood suger (they've got diabetes), I've changed Bella's pants and cleaned them if they've got messy, I washed Bella yesterday, washed the laundry and today I took care of their food when we ran out of meat. So... this is what dad's done: Put dishes in the dishwasher (none of mine - only his own), taken the dogs out to wee-wee and poop, been outside taking the firewood into the new shed and cleaned up after himself there, sat infront of the tv and anwserd his phone if he's been inside (if he's been outside I've done that). Have I forgot something? ...hmm... no I don't think so... But doing my homework didn't exacly go as planned as my niece and nephiew came to visit (aged 6 and 8). I promised her that I would but... I didn't exacly expect them to come. I can't wait to see her face when she comes back. I'm sure she thinks this house is a total mess and I'm sure she's worried of how much she has to do when she comes back. :evilbat:
20. Ben's REALLY down and depressed today. And he's really confused at the same time. Mom went to hospital today and she'll be coming home tomorrow. So she'll spend the night there. This is the first night that she's been away from Ben so Ben's totally confused and doesn't know what to do. He doesn't want to play, he barely eats and he's given up searching for her. (first he searched every room just in case mom would be there) And now because Ben's like this, Bella's really nervous too. She runs around whining, but when Ben becomes calm, she calms down. It's not easy for her either worrying about Ben, mom and apparenly she suddenly feels like she needs to protect me. :o And this all while she's on heat. I'm kind of clueless on what to do. Ben just lies on the sofa and doesn't do anything. Dad's working with the shed/outhouse so he's not much help. I've been so busy today that I've not eaten anything yet and it's now soon 3PM here. :o
21. Yay Gladis!! :drinking:
22. You have all the right in the world to be angry HF! I would too if I was in your shoes! I must say that I LOOOOOVE kids. But... all kids have their own personalities and some personalities I just can't stand. It's the same with adults though. Why don't you put a burglary alarm up? ;-) You know... when someone touches your windows when you are away, sirens start screaming and waking the whole neighbourghood and scaring the kids half to death? ;-) Or put the light thing up that when someone comes too close to your house a light goes off and lights the entire yard. No more sneaking in the dark. ;-)
23. Welcome to the dogo family Miss J! :D
