2. I did that test and I can't believe how accurate it is!! And I am going to take the advice I got from there to help Ben and Bella! The exersice I can't do right yet, but hopefully as soon as the snow melts. According to that test Ben's dogAge is 15.3! That's 0,3 year younger then the average DogAge for Ben's breed. And Bella's DogAge is 4,3! That's 1,6 years younger then the average DogAge for bella's breed! If I get more and regular exersize, regular feedings (right now the bowl is there 24/7 and more time training, Ben's and Bella's dog year should decrease. Oh, and I should allso get Ben on light food. I already orderd a few test bags of the light food from the company to see if Ben can eat it or not (with his allergies) so that I don't have to buy a whole bag that he might be able to eat just little of. I'm very pleased with that and sent the link to everyone I know!
3. I agree with DogPaddle. She's feeling lonely, upset and doesn't know why Rio is no longer with her. I think the best thing for her is another dog. ...that is if you are up for it...
4. courtnek: The cream I'm using is very effective. I have problems myself with fungus occasionally and it usually takes it away in a couple days. Itching is gone almoast immediately. With Bella I put the cream on two times a day and it doesn't seem to itch that much if I do that. Then I put the collar on untill the cream has dried up. Guest: I have no idea what en Elizabethan collar is as I'm from Finland, but the collar I'm using I got from the vet when I neuterd my other dog Ben. Here's two pics of Ben with the collar: It's a good size and it fits both Ben and Bella. I've been meaning to do one of those panties for Bella myself as the ones in shops aren't good at all (the ones I know are made of nylon and hard nylon mixture fabric). I don't have any material for that yet, so I have to keep the collar on. Plus the fact that Bella isn't housebroken yet (I have papers in a couple rooms so she does her buissnesses on them), so it would just end up with her pooping and peeing in her pants. Her nail is ok now. She's still a bit carefull with it, but otherwise it's ok. I've been keeping her inside now and I'm going to wait untill a week's gone by and then I know it has healed enough for her to go outside again. (I've kept her inside to make sure that no bacteria can come and mess things up) I called the vet yesterday and she told me to just keep doing what I've done so far to keep it clean and make sure no bacteria will come on it and just keep an eye on her. She's a bit more tired today and very moody and cranky, but that might be that she's begining to have her first heat (not sure). Her mom got her first heat at 8 moths and the litter before her had their first heats at the age of 6 months. Bella is now 6 months, so I guess I just have to wait and see. :-)
5. Mouse: Thanks! :D Ben and Bella are practicly best friends now. But Ben thinks still that Bella's too fussy and jumpy, so he gets irritated of her a little now and then. But they can sleep on my tummy next to eachother when I'm on the sofa etc. Ben isn't that afraid of strangers either. See Bella runs to everyone and Ben figures it can't be that bad when that stranger don't eat HER up. So I'm very proud of my baby Ben aswell! But my two babies aren't babies anymore!!
6. I have put some antifungal cream on her bum a little now and then and sometimes it gets better and sometimes worse. It often starts to get better and then she starts biting it and there's nothing I can cover it with as it's in a place that's very hard to cover with anything. The paw seems to be better. I got to take a closer look on it (she didn't scream or try and wiggle out) and noticed that the skin around the nail (the line) has been torn off a bit. Argh... hard to explain... The nail has kind of moved a bit and is now in the right possition. It still moves a bit, but it's not too bad. And it is a good sign that I can look at it. She seems to be herself, but she doesn't want to play really. She wants to come in your lap and she does have fun and wiggle her tail all the time. She's eaten and she drank water. She's not limping anymore. She's just a bit carefull with her paw.
7. Kat: The nail is ok, it's not hanging out... it's not twisted and it's not broken. :o The vet called back and told me to come tomorrow if it's very painfull or if things take a turn for the worse. I took the cover off as she didn't want to stand or do anything with it on her leg. I put this collar on her so she wouldn't be able to lick the paw, but took it off too (she couldn't eat etc. with it on). Now I'll see if I need to do anything. I've put some antibacterial cream on it wich the skin has absorbed, so I guess I have to wait and see. But she's not going out for a while. I know it will make it even harder for me to get her housebroken, but that's a smaller problem then this right now. She's stopped limping now too, wich is good.
8. I'm so sorry for you Zoey!! Run free amongst the clouds on the Rainbow Bridge Rio, and have lots and lots of fun! All the best for you, angel!
9. I just called our vet and left a message on her anwsering machine. She's on duty today, so if I'm lucky I might get an appointment today or tomorrow. It's gone worse you see... :( She now walks on only three legs and screams from the top of her lungs if anything touches the toe. I've become very scared that she might have broken the toe or something. I hope the vet calls soon... I hate seeing Bella in pain.
10. Pic of Bella with her bandade: You can see the fungus infection that doesn't want to go away on her bum aswell...
11. Kiwi: Well... I think this one is pretty adorable: Ok, ok... and this one! What do you think?
12. Bella was outside with dad and ran free and had a wonderfull time. I watched a little from the window and she seemed to enjoy herself so much. Then she came in and everything was ok. (I thought so...) Well... then after a few minutes she came to my room and I wonderd what that red thing is on her. I picked her up and she was all bloody! Blood everywhere! I went through the kitchen and the floors were coverd with blood!! I couldn't believe my eyes! I yelled to my mom to come and have a look while I held the bloody puppy. I went to wash her and noticed that the blood came from her right front paw. Whwn I washed the paw I noticed that it came from the root of the nail. So I washed her up and put some antibacterial liquid on it called Betadine. Then I put a bandade on the leg. She went to bed straight after that, but now she's occupied by biting on the bandade. This wasn't a nice morning at all! I wish I knew where she hurt herself - when, how and why. I've decided to go to the vet on monday or tuesday (depending on Bella ofcourse). The problem is that dad's going out of town for a couple days (work) so I have no-one to take me there. I guess I just have to call everyone I know asking for a lift. I hope her toe will be fine so I don't have to pleed to everyone. (sigh) Not fun... not fun at all! :(
13.
Hi Crested :) Nice to see you again. How are your two little munchins doing? :P
Ben and Bella are doing fine! Bella has a fungus infection that doesn't want to go away, but otherwise everything is fine. :D
WELCOME BACK CRESTED!!!! :hand:
Thanks hun! It's great to be back!
14. Thanks! I replied in the guestbook. ;-) It took a month for me, but I didn't do it all the time, everyday. If I would have - it wouldn't have taken such a long time. I did get some help though. A friend of mine made the layout and I did the rest. Sheltie got her baby???? :o :o :o What? When? Where can I find the pics??? Aargh! I can't believe I've missed that! (sigh) I have to go to bed now. It's midnight and I found out a couple days ago that I have anemia, wich means that I don't have enough red bloodcells in my body. It's not serious, it just makes me tired. I've had it a few times in my life so I guess you can say I'm used to it. I'll come tomorrow and take a better look here. I didn't make just my homepage today. I made another homepage aswell! Actually I did that as a trade. An overall for Ben for a homepage. Not a bad deal. ;-) Take care and see you guys tomorrow!
15. I just upated my homepage (redid every single page from top to bottom, so go and check it out and tell me what you think http://personal.inet.fi/koti/crested/) and realized I haven't been here lately. Got really shocked about it aswell!! It's so weird actually, because I love beeing here and love reading and posting messages and hearing how you guys are doing. I honistly have to start coming here more often! How are you guys? Everything OK?
16. One thing that makes me really mad is that the claim they have a "Lifetime & Health Guarantee" for all their puppies. YEAH RIGHT! If they would have a lifetime and health guarantee, they wouldn't advertice puppies as "perfect Christmas gifts" etc.!!! I think it's sick, twisted and just WRONG!
17. Can I post thoose pics to the Finnish dog board I'm moderating on? They have been asking about her! She looks amazing now! You've done a fantastic job! Congratulations! How are the puppies doing?
18. Have you seen this page? http://wizardofclaws.com/index.htm They promise you they can get you any toy sized puppy in any color, breed or sex you want. Here are some quotations: "I can ship anytime with Delta Priority Pet. It's like 1st class for pets. If you are looking for another sex or color, send me an- email to find out puppies ready next week. " "female Japanese Chin tea cup very small and cute- it's a must buy puppy - it will make a good gift" "Tea cup- OUTSTANDING PUPPY- little freak- gorgeous face- fits in your hands- perfect gift for Christmas- ADORABLE- it's just a must have puppy" "They are so fragile and so vulnerable that only constant, love and thorough care will enable them to live. -- Furthermore, the buyer understands additional care will be needed to insure the health and well being of said puppy. Without proper care this breed can suffer from Hypoglycemia, dehydration, etc." I'm so mad right now I'm about to burst!!! THEY PROMISE THEY CAN SHIP YOU A PUPPY ANYTIME TO ANYWHERE!! Look at the puppies, look at the prices, look at the pictures. Sure they look adorable, BUT do they look happy? Look at their tiny eyes! People say that eyes are the windows to once soul. Atleast in this case, they are right! WHEN DO PEOPLE UNDERSTAND THAT DOGS ARE LIVING, BREATHING CREATURES, NOT OBJECTS OR DECORATIONS?!?!?
19. Ben's buckle is made of metal... I'm so happy now! :D The redness is TOTALLY gone now! You can see that the skin has been torn with the nails, but it's healed so good! It doesn't hurt, it doesn't bother him, he doesn't scratch it anymore...! I still wonder where it came from...
20.
Do you have emergency vet in your area?
No we don't and I wouldn't want to go to a vet I don't know. The last time I went to an unknown vet was with Bella's ear infection. The vet DECIDED already ON THE PHONE that she had allergies. Plus that he thought I knew NOTHING of vaccinations and deworming. I have on my homepage in Finnish a whole ARTICLE on deworming and vaccinations. So I must know nothing about it. So I'm not doing that again. I trust the vet I usually go to. She's been right with every little problem we have had.
Wow, that really is bad. How long has it been there?
It suddenly appeard in about an hour. So it was really quick. That's why I'm worried. Usually his allergies come in 2-3 days. First it gets a bit red, the second day it swollens up and on the third day the itching is so bad that no matter what he scratches the skin off. But this came so quickly!
has the vet been specific as to what allergies?
No... But I've done the same as my mom did to me (I'm very much allergic aswell), tried diffirent things and ruled them out or in depending on what happens. So far I KNOW he's allergic to all the diffirent E-codes (colouring and preservation stuff... you know?) and then plum, fish, spices and herbs, many products from the sea, many diffirent dog foods such as Solid Gold and Royal Canine. Oh and wood! He liked to eat wood when he was little and that always came out as a rash. And then dust mites to some extent.
have you used any new cleaning products, laundry detergents, skin care products on yourself, or anything that you can connect to his problem flaring up? been feeding something new/different?
No... We always use the same cleaning products and laundry detergents because I'm allergic to some aswell, so I have to use things that I don't get any reactions from. So we always use the one and the same. I haven't fed him anything new either. Well... X-mas ham with only pig butt and salt. But he's got that before last christmas and the christmas before that. And I know he's not allergic to meat (besides fish) and thank god for that.
Does ben usually wear a collar?
Yes he does. I usually have a collar on him 24/7 because he has this tendency to run away and I have a little plate on the collar with his name and my phone number. So I keep the collar on, so if he runs away I know that the person who finds him sees that. (plus that the plate allso shows at night) He's a bit better today. It isn't as red anymore. But I can see now that the skin has been torn a bit from his nail. :( I hope that what happend last time doens't happen now. Last time the area was like 5 times smaller and when I got the redness away (it wasn't THIS red) and it started to heal (he had scratched the skin off no matter how I tried to stop it), it started to come this yellow liquid out of it. So much in fact that the bandade stuck on the woond. I had to use water and tear it off. Ofcourse then it opend again and again more yellow goo. It took over 1,5 months for it to heal. If it happens this time I know Ben has to get antibiotics to get rid of the bacteria out of it. Luckilly there isn't a bacteria yet in it. I have to keep it really clean so that that doesn't happen again. (did my best last time, but it happend anyway)
How can you say,"It's not in a pitbulls blood to fight?" They used to breed them FOR fighting. They are fighting dogs! Pomeranians are cute, but they are really bad too. Not as bad as pitbulls. You have to look at the statistics! There is a reason some countries do not allow you to breed them. Guess what people? I'm not the only one that feels this way about pitbulls.
Graaargh!!! I'm getting sick of theese comments. I don't own a pit, but I'm starting to wish I did so I could prove you wrong! Yes they were bred to fight BEFORE. But by SICK, TWISTED and HORRIBLE people! I hate them for it!! I hate all people that fight their dogs, because it's because of this that pits are seen as a dangerous breed. And why are pomerians not as dangerous? BECAUSE THEY ARE SMALL! Let's take my mom for an instance. I've told her I'm going to get a big peruvian hairless sometime when I've moved away, and she replied by: "Well in that case I'm not coming to your house in case it bites.". Why doesn't she say this of my two current dogs? Because they are SMALL. That's the diffirence. Have you ever heard of a vicious killer machine called a Chihuahua? Probabely not because they are so cute and cuddly. The truth is I know atleast one "yo quiero taco bell" who's vicious and bites anyone in sight. I don't say that ALL Chihuahuas are bad because of this either now am I? I allso haven't met a single good German Shephard. Two that I have known have killed another dog. One has NEARLY done that. Two have attacked a dog with his owner. My list goes on. I've lost faith in them personally, but don't say they don't make good pets for someone who can HANDLE and SCHOOL them! Ok, now I'm really gettin PO'd. I'd better go, because I'm on the verge of exploding!
22. Here are the pics: Here's how I have to bandade him so that he don't scratch the skin off. :(
23. About an hour ago I noticed Ben had a red spot on his throat. I took a closer look and it was BLOOD RED! :o He's had troubles like this before and the vet has diagnosed it as allergies (and so have I) but it's never been THIS red. Has anyone got a better clue on what it might be. It's ALWAYS on the troat at that spot where it's now. Never anywhere else on the body (sometimes at either of his cheeks, but that is extremely rare). I'm going to post some pics in a few minutes when I get them uploaded to internet so you can see how it looks. Isn't this a fantastic "christmas present"? I doubt it that I will get any sleep tonight, worrying about Ben. And I can't go to the vet, because she's not in at Christmas. :( I put some cream I've got from the vet before for theese kind of things, and it usually helps, but I thought I'd ask if anyone of you have seen this before? Could it be something else besides allergies??
24. I must make a statement here. I do NOT like dog fighting. ANY dog. ANY breed. I think it's absolutely disgusting and I do not understand why anyone would put their dog in such pain and misery! Mabye why you see us "condoning" it, because there isn't much we can do. I live in Finland and I have NEVER heard of dog fighting here (thank God!!) so it's not much I can do about it. And I can't stop people from talking about it. It's their ideas and their thoughts and everyone has the right to say their thoughts out loud. That does ABSOLUTELY NOT mean that I or anyone else on this board thinks dog fighting is OK. I myself absolutely, positively HATE dog fighting!! Anyone who thinks dog fighting is ok or fights his or her dogs should be locked up with a lion to see what they think of it. The reason for that is, because that's what they do to their dogs. For show! Why do you think that people don't fight anymore in Roman Colosseums with lions or gladiators? Because it's inhumane and SICK! Now some bastards think dogfighting is OK for the same reasons that the ancient romans did. It was for fun! FOR ENTERTAINMENT!! Not to benefit the people - or in this case the dogs. ...and some wonder where pitts have got their bad reputation! AAAARGH! This makes me boil!!! I've been here for 1 year now and I KNOW for a fact that only a minority (not a majority) supports or condones dog fighting. I think it's sick, twisted and morally and ethically wrong! There isn't a word gruesom enough to discribe how I feel about dog fighting! My main point is: THE BASTARDS THAT FIGHT THEIR DOGS SHOLD ROT IN HELL!!   ...so that's how much I condone it!
