Help! I am really freaking out!!!!!!!!!!!!

Recommended Posts

Okay, on Friday's I got in to work at 1PM and work until 10PM. I take Stealth with me and he goes to daycare for 1/2 a day and I go to pick him up on my lunch/dinner break. Well, today when I went to pick Stealth up we got in the car and I noticed that there were little streaks of blood on my pants. So, I got Stealth to stand up in the back and I went to check him all over- I noticed that at the very tip of his tail there was a redish tint to it. I looked his tail over and sure enough on the tip of his tail was nothing but blood. The very tip looked like a double dip ice cream cone because it was swollen, and there was a whole on it and blood was oozing out. I took him back in STEAMING   because he was there since 11:30 today because i had to take care of things and no one noticed it and no one saw anything happen which on the inside of me PISSES me of to the ultimate! I just left and said I will take him to the vet tomorrow! So, then we are in the car and he is panting more than he usually does. I felt his nose ears and belly- THEY WERE BURNING HOT      !!!!!!!! and he was really thirsty!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So, I got him to work and I always have a bag for him with me. I checked his temp and it was 102.0 oh by this time I am ready to strangle someone because he is my BABY!!!! I called my husband crying and freaking out! I don't think that he had the amount of water that he needed while running around and playing for over 5 hours! So, tomorrow he is going to the vet and on Monday I am callin the owner and letting her have it! I am pissed and I am done with this company.

But I am scared about Stealth esp. since we go on vacation with him next Friday- SUGGESTIONS PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

exertion wont cause a fever. if his temp was 102, isnt that normal for a dog? or somewhere nearby? if not normal(DO, where are you when I need you?) then he has an infection of some sort. they had no idea what happened to his tail? why it was bleeding? I'd be PO'd too....

Oh yeah! My mother in law told me that when we are done with the bill to take to the owner and tell her because of their irresponsibility that I want a refund of the vet bill! He goes to 2 different daycares because of the interaction with all of the dogs at both places and we are starting a third one in Sept (www.pupniron.com) which has a whole welness thing! I am really excited about that one.

But, I am really worried about the bleeding thing- I know what to do about the fever but what scares me is that his whole body is HOT! I did cut the tip of his hair on his tail shorter to see where it was bleeding. I am just LIVID         !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, as far as taking his temp- i have a thermometer and i get his to lay and give him a treat and put it up his rear end. He lays there for me and when I take it out I tell him "OK, We are done!" and give him another treat! He has always been really good on that. I know that a year ago his temp keep on ranging in the 100s to 102s and they said that it could just be his temp- but he has had lower temps lately- But, I am just scared that something is wrong and I am just PISSED!

I will let you all know!

Thanks,
Jessie

Sorry .. more questions,

a human thermometer?! How long do you leave it in? Wouldn't it have to be a special dog thermometer in case it broke?

Sorry about all the questions ...

I hope she is OK and most of all doesn't interrupt your work too much tonight ...

Thank you all for your thinking of us!

Stealth went to the vet today- He was there from 10AM until 4PM- They thought that he was chewing his tail- He does not do that at all- but they did say that dogs that whip their tails really hard (IE: LABS) tend to have these problems from time to time. They gave me a spray to spray on his tail 3 times a day and there an antibiotic to take-

Also, one thing that really concern me is that they said that his anal sacs were really full and they expressed his anal glands (What is this?) They found pieces of my red flip flop with in his poo and said that between now and Tuesday that if he does not poo with ease that he will have to do another procedure- does anyone know what they are talking about?

Thanks,
Jessie

the tail splitting is common in labs and hounds. dogs with "whiplash tails". which both labs and hounds are known for, are often in danger of actuallysplitting the tail open banging it on walls and doors. my lab X doesnt have it, she has a more shepherd like fanned tail, but the hound does, and she has a lump on her tail from whiplash effect. the vet said not to worry about it unless it grows, and it hasnt....

the anal glands I have heard of, but never had a dog with the problem.

also, if they found part of your FF in her poop, she ate it, and its trying to make it thru her digestive system. does she show any signs of notbeing able to go, straining, or loss of appetite?

My Lab X ate something out in the yard.cost me 700.00 to have it surgically removed. she was throwing up and not eating however...

see I am scared of having to do something to him- the vet did say that it would be a quick procedure and that I needed to watch for him not pooing good and throwing up- He tried to poo today and only had a few dribbles come out- I don't know - he had not eaten today until about 5pm because he was at the vet- so I am keeping my fingers crossed.

However, I don't think that he will need surgery because she said it will be quick and he will be fine for the vacation- so this weekend I am now doggie proofing my home- sigh!

Any suggestions on trying to help him in any way?

I hope everything is okay. I learned that a human thermo was okay when Cody was a pup. She started puking violently all over the place and the vet told me to stick one, well, you know where. It is now the dog thermo and I have since bought a human one.;) I also learned that hydrogen peroxide is excellent for inducing vomiting which I had to do to all four dogs last summer. Not fun. :-?

DivineOblivion19- how will I know if Stealth is straining? Also, say he does have to have a surgery to remove something- do you know how much we are talking about there? I know it will differ from vet to vet- just trying to get an idea.

Thanks for your info DO because I fee a little better right now- One last question really quick- After he eats how long does it take for him to take a poo? Esp if he has not eaten since about 6pm the night before and finally ate tonight about 5:30pm
