1. To be put up for adoption early next week but.......... I took him to have him neutered last week and it turns out that he has an upper respiratory infection. Of course they wouldn't do the surgery. I now have to wait two weeks to try again. I am giving antibiotics. I guess the trouble is that the more time I/we spend with the little guy the more I/we like him. I can't keep another dog if I am going to foster. So please, someone kidnap the keepum fairy until I can get him to his forever home. Leah
2. Niki was adopted from the Humane Society for $150.00. Bozy was adopted from ARPH, an Aussie rescue, for $200.00. Buddy was adopted from a high kill shelter in Eastern WA and I paid $75.00. All were altered and vetted. So you see it really varies from one organization to another as to how they charge. In a nut shell, I dont think that $300.00 to adopt a dog is too much.
3. My very first foster dog arrived last night. His name is Pepper and he is a Border Collie cross. The group I volunteer for brought him from a high kill shelter in Utah. He came to us pretty late last night so I don't know much about him except that he is very submissive and small but very sweet. He's only 9 months old so there is hope for confidence building. My crew accepted him with open paws, to no surprise and you should have seen him with the cats. They scared the shiny out of him. I guess he's never seen cats before. I'll take more pics soon but here is the one listed from the shelter.
4. I feed Chicken Soup to my cats and dogs. Good stuff. Chicken, turkey, chicken meal, turkey meal, whole grain brown rice, whole grain white rice, oatmeal, potatoes, cracked pearled barley, millet, chicken fat (preserved with mixed tocopherols), duck, salmon, egg product, flaxseed, natural chicken flavor, kelp, potassium chloride, salt, choline chloride, chicory root extract, carrots, peas, apples, dried skim milk, cranberry powder, rosemary extract, parsley flake. Vitamins and minerals.
5. If you are indeed telling the truth is your dog chipped and have tags. If not, WHY?
6. This is a very good forum. http://www.thecatsite.com/forums/index.php?
7. I'm sorry. I had a GSD many years ago that escaped my fenced yard and was mowed down by a car. I made my ex husband retrieve her. I couldn't bring myself to do it. It's a horrible horrible thing to have happen.
8. I think that is rediculous. My four are alone for 14 hours a day. When I get home they are happier than crap to see me. We spend the rest of the evening together and all is good. On the other hand I would not have a single dog being left alone for that long.
9. It looks like there is definately some Border Collie in her. She's adorable.
10. Everyone is recovering. We went to the vet on Tuesday and KC was confirmed. Cody is the wellest of the three and was prescribed Amoxicillin. Niki and Bozy are on a higher dose and are also taking cough supressants. From now on they are going to routinely get the Bordatella (sp?) vaccine. Thank you all for your well wishes and concern. It means alot.
11. I would definately get another Border Collie and Aussie. Yes that would make six but I don't like odd numbers. 8)
12. Fortunately I have some robitussen something or other, which is okay for the dogs. I filled the injector and medicated all of them earlier this eve. I just hate seeing them sick and to think I could have prevented this. :(
13. Niki, the worse, Bozy and Cody have been hacking all day. Of course my vet isn't in till Monday. I took temperatures and all are normal, but dang I hate seeing my dogs sick. Niki also has some sort of bug as she is very lethargic and has bad diarrhea. Needless to say, not a good day. I have a feeling they picked it up at the dogpark last weekend. I guess I wont be going back there anytime soon. :(
14. I just recently switched all of my furkids from Nutro to Chicken Soup. It's a much better food and cheaper than Nutro :o
15. Thanks guys. :D I didn't mention that it has been three years since the loaf entered our lives. I just got home from work and everyone is enjoying Gotcha day bones to celebrate. It's very quiet out here right now.
16. I also have two males. Bozy was the first then Buddy came along a few months ago. They first walked on egg shells with each other but they are fine now. Honestly I cant figure out who is on top of the pecking order with my four but I think Niki has the upper hand. She was my first and doesn't let the other three get away with anything. Sorry not much help either.
17. Happy gotcha day (tomorrow) Bozy. He was my second addition to my wonderful world of rescue dogs. I couldn't wait. He has come along ways since his first days with us. This is Boez (that's how its pronounced, not spelled) just a few months after he arrived, we are doing an agiliity demo. Ready to go outside, mommy. Bozy on the left and baby Cody on the right, she's no baby anymore. 18. My dogs are lickers as well. It gets kinda creepy when they all do it at the same time. :-?
19. You know what really blows about that situation is that they were allowed to take thier pets to the school but when they forced evacuation from it, they couldn't take thier pets with them. I would have stayed with my babies and the rest of them despite the orders. I can fight ya know. Really, I would have risked being shot than leave my dogs.
20. I too would say German Shepherd, maybe mixed with something else. Hard to tell with just a head shot.
21. tsorrite court, I don't have one either and in a drunken stupor I did ask for one. I lost track of the thread after that.
22. I'd put it in their mail box. Honestly if their are scoop laws in your area you can report it to the police.
