UNHAPPY!!!

I am brand new to this forum, and I cannot express how happy I am to have found this website.

I have a year old Weimaraner (on April 30th). She is my very first show-dog. Fortunately, I got lucky and recieved and absolute beauty for my first endeavor.

Anyway, she free stacks almost perfectly, a little easty-westy in front, but as soon as I have to correct her, she rounds up through the back, shrinks her neck into her shoulders, and tucks her tail like and abused mongrol. I have tried many different routes to fix this problem. Nothing abusive ever happened to her. I bought her as a four month old, and she has only been showing since January. We have five points, but I am afraid that her attitude is going to hinder further progress.

If anyone has any advice on how to make a happy (or at least not an incredibly unhappy) show-dog, I would appreciate their words of wisdom.

Thank you and good luck!!!
Jesi

I have read that article, and I thought that I was doing it properly. My girl just doesn't seem to care. I taught her to 'wait' as she is also striving toward her JH. She seems to think that she can't even move her ears!!!
I will have to re-read that article and probably start from scratch with her.
Hopefully we can get some attitude before our specialty next month!!!
Thank you for the advice.
clickers are not allowed in the UK at shows - you could put the dog next to you off
do you use bait? my little girl free stands but she knows I have a tip-bit in my hand ready for her
keep at it - go out to enjoy your day
You don't bring the clicker in the ring with you, it's just for training and shaping for the behavior you want before you show.
