oh okay, only one problem, nassa eats her food very slow, she's a delicate eater lol, i didn't know any dogs that ate like that until i got her. everytime she gets hiccups she gives me this look as if to say 'what's happening mummy? make it stop' lol felicia
-
oops, you said pat her on the back, not pick her up and pat her on the back, i think i woke up too early this morning after too many beers last night :drinking: felicia
-
Thanks jackie :) i'll try that next time it happens, i can't pick her up anymore though, she weighs 40 lbs, maybe i'm just weak  felicia

What silly nicknames do you have for your pets?
felicia replied to Canis erectus's topic in Everything about dogs
Anassa gets nassa just because it's easier, nassa pants...i said it once after a glass of wine or two and it stuck, nas, big boofa feet because she always sticks them in my face and they are huge, doofus because she is pretty goofy and clumsy sometimes and doof for short we also call her this because when my husband gets bhome she gets all wriggly and rolls on the floor at his feet  i also call her cutey utey or nassa bubs. felicia -
even since i brought anassa home she has hiccuped, this usually happens every three days but sometimes can happen for many days at a time and a few times each day, the vet says there is nothing wrong with her but had no explanation for it. has anyone else had this happen and what causes it to happen so often? felicia
Far as I know, it isn't rawhide itself that causes cancer, it's the chemicals its treated with to bleach it out, preserve it, etc (one of the chemicals used by some is formaldehyde(sp?). There are some types that have been done up with safe chemicals, some that have not, you have to check them out individually. Even so, there is a chance of choking or intestinal blockage with rawhides, especially if your dog does not chew properly, because they tend to bloat and get slimy with spit as the dog chews.
thankyou, she does chew them completely so that's a good thing but how can i find out which ones are treated with bad things? i have noticed the rawhide swelling up after a while but she kind of sucks on it for a while after that and chews it pretty slowly, she never hogs it all down but she eats them inside too so i can watch her. felicia

oh wow, that's so cute! i wish we had them in Australia :D felicia

ok, now i feel bad. i didn't know rawhide could cause cancer, nassa loves rawhide, she eats those beef basted rawhide from smackos and she loves the big smoked rawhide bones, she also eats pig ears and pig snouts. she loves raw chicken wings and i buy bags of lamb offcuts for her, she also gets giant raw bones bigger than my arm, they are sawn in half so she can get to the marrow. i have heard you shouldn't feed them cooked bones because they splinter too easily so i don't feed her those. her favorite thing of all is roo tails, they have a lot of lean meat on them and the bone in the center is like a carltridge (spelling?) so she can't choke on it, they last her ages and are great for her teeth, there has been a problem with the kangaroos for a little while now though and they are dying so there aren't so many around, hopefully soon though. felicia
how funny the different approaches dogs take to rid themselves of the poo pendulum. aspen freezes like a deer in headlights and gives me a pitiful look as if to say 'yo human a little help in keeping my dignity please.' since i usually carry plastic bags in every pocket i am able to calmly walk up and grab said turd. this is truly a representation of his laid back nature. gaia is not so laid back she is more a like me a brute force kinda girl. she tries to outrun the attached doody ball!
   oh that was just too funny. nassa does something different again, when nass has a poo pendulum she gives me a sheepish look then she tries to remove it buy swipng her butt on the grass, if this doesn't work she kind of shakes her head and forgets about it :o then she tries to come inside with it still there...and...dangling eek! felicia

i'm sure because we live so far away they would give us something... when anassa got that lump they gave us some draining needles so we could drain it ourselves at home because we couldn't make it in every second day, it wasn't fun but nesessary and the lump is so much better now, nearly gone. so i will ask for sure, i wish i'd thought of that last time we were down actually, thankyou for the idea though, i'd be crushed if something happened to her, she's like a kid to me :) felicia
Perry sleeps like that... with his eyes wide open. He looks dead. :-? The way Perry kidney punches me in my sleep, I think he must be dreaming he's a cow or a mule or something. :-?
ouch! nassa kicks too, she sticks her big boofy paws in my face and she has some big feet on her....she also snores and breaks wind, dutching her doesn't work though because she likes her smell

 nassa will be laying there with her eyes opened and her eyes rolled back and sometimes i think she's awake but then she's start snoring....is a bit creepy but she doesn't walk around like that. felicia

nearly everytime nassa falls asleep she starts to dream, sometimes it's a happy dream where she's running and her tail is wagging and other times she whimpers and her tail goes between her legs. sometimes she even barks really loud :o does anyone elses dog dream heaps and what do you think they are dreaming of? sometimes i'm sure nass is being chased by my eldest cat in her dreams, she doesn't like nass at all and blocks her way so she can't get to me. poor nass just sits a meter away from her, whines and lets out a bark now and then, i have to rescue her from the nasty cat  felicia
