1.
The Title had nothing to do with small dogs, I simply stated I had a little rant. And yes it had to do with small dogs & they're owners. It was not my intent to diss small dog owners, I just get tired of the owners who think it's so cute for their little UNTRAINED Dog to bite my large dogs. Plus the dog in question was unleashed on a busy street, so it was in danger of being hit by a passing car. My dogs where on leash, not roaming free.
Okay that sounds right. I hate that too I don't think it's funny one bit to have your small dog act aggressive. I had a time where my cairn was aggressive towards dogs he didn't know and boy did I work on breaking him of that. Now we can go anywhere and he happily greets other dogs. I didn't really mean it to sound like your terrible for bringing up the subject it's just that the sterotyping of breeds bothers me but I see now that is not what you meant. I apologive if I made you angry.
 2.

I don't have anything against little dogs either, only there owners who are complete idiots.
I must defend my little dogs, not all little dogs are this way and not all little dog owners think it's cute, it's the same as you owners that have large dogs getting a bad rap (Pits, etc). Any owner that lets any dog regardless of size of shape run loose or act in this manner is idiotic. I know that little dogs can be snappy but I have been bit and it wasn't by a toy breed, my cousin was very nearly killed by a chow years ago. So dogs whom bite come in all shapes and sizes and it all boils down to idiotic owners.
Yep I totally agree that is my point right there. Having a thread devoted to the size of a breed is ridiculous when all dogs are capable of aggressive behavior no matter what the size. And by the way the title of the thread is a rant on little dogs (no offense to small dog owners) That is how this thread can be misunderstood if it's about dog owners why is it a rant on little dogs and that the owners of these little dogs shouldn't be offended.
 3. Irresponsible owners are irresponsible owners it hasn't a thing to do with the size of the dog. A dog is a dog and the owner is who is responsible for the behavior and stating that a dog is a little sh*t blames the dog not the owner. I don't like that sort of comment directed at animals when they are simply being animals. If you called the person a little sh*t I would have to agree with you. I don't like people using derogatory words against any dog anymore then I would agree that a child with lousy parents is a little sh*t.
 4.

Did you ever think that maybe small dogs act that way because they have to make up for thier small size by seeming tough.
Since I don't believe that dogs perceive size in the same way we do, I'd say no. This is just me, but it seems to me like if a small dog perceived a larger dog as a threat just by its mere presence, he wouldn't run at it snipping and snarling, but rather would stay away. I'm scared to death of spiders, but I don't run at them and try to act menacing just because I see one. I don't but it. I still think it's because owners, whether unwittingly or not, encourage that "cute, take no junk" aggressiveness. The other question could be... did you ever think that maybe so many people are down on small dogs because irresponsible owners have encouraged aggressive behavior in them?
It is not acceptable for ANY dog to snap at people. Once again, the point of this thread was that SOME dog owners think it's cute when their dogs misbehave.
Exactly.
Actually I can't see how they wouldn't perceive size considering they like to make themselves as small as possible to the other dog to submit to the other animal and when threatened they make themselves look as big as possible by putting their head straight up and ears erect and out. I really do think they perceive size. As far as small dogs are concerned. How do you feel about Pit Bulls do you think that is right for people to get down on them because irresponsible owners are encouraging aggressive behavior. Perhaps we should be faulting the owners and not picking on small dogs. My dogs are all under 25lbs not a one is yippy or nippy. How many of you here who dislike small dogs have a small dog? If I were to start a thread that said I can't stand pit bulls because they are all aggressive and the owners don't train them right. Is that a generalization? Is that true or not?
 5. Is this the first dog your raising on your own?
 6.
Or you could just install a rock garden... over the entire yard. I'm seriously considering it. :o
That is what I had to do with a portion of our yard. The whole things wasn't covered in grass thankfully so I just pulled up the lawn and put gravel over it and I thought they wouldn't like the gravel on their paw they don't care at all they have been pooping up a storm over there I have even seen one of two of them lying on it.
 7. I would love to go to the dog park but I get nervous and worried someone's dog might hurt my dogs. None of them are over 25lbs. Shadow the baby has never been he is too young. There was a place back in the bay area where they cut the dog park in half and one side was for small dogs and the other was for big dogs. I wish they had that here I used to take Toto there when he was a puppy.
 8. How many posts do I need to get a paw print? I don't like having empty paws.
 9. Well it's good to know that some of you are calling this person a troll I would hate to think there are idiots out there who really think that way.
 10. Just curious that half a pit bull is it the front half or the back half.

 12. I think Dog's are a gift from God too.
 13. Oh I can understand how annoying any dog could be and perhaps it's me being overly sensitive because on another board whenever the subject of Pitbulls come up a lot of people are instantly trying to defend the dog saying they aren't bad it's the owners then turn around and talk about small dogs like they are horrible little yappy and nippy. When I always say that just like with a larger breed chihuahuas and other small breeds are dogs and can be trained and it's the owners of the individual dogs that are a problem. Chihuahua are very much connected to their owners and for that neighbor of yours to let them out all day is just wrong they are barking constantly because they are scared and don't know what to do. Chihuahuas are not meant to be left out all day. I'm sure she didn't mean anything but I think any owner would be a bit annoyed if someone said the breed that they have is negative in some way. It's not really fair to you DeafAussieLover to be taking out my annoyance on you.
 14. Well that's a relief. I had just read a post at another site that had ads on the internet about getting exotic pets and Large cats, and monkeys were being advertised as pets. It was horrible.
 15. Why do you have a tiger at your home?
 16. Did you say anything to her? Perhaps people in your new neighborhood don't care about these things. It's kind of hard to keep people out of an open yard. I had a very large chocolate lab at my old house that pooped everyday and those weren't little bitty chihuahua poops they were huge poops probably the size of your big dogs poop. Dogs poop and I do make it a habit of making sure I pick up my dogs poop but if someone lets there dog poop on my lawn then that is the price we pay for having dogs in the neighborhood. If you sense a bit of annoyance from me it stems from the fact that I have a "yippy little taco bell dog" as you call it and am sick to death of the stereotype. These little dogs are wonderful little companions who if trained properly just like any other dog are very obediant and sweet.
 17.
As Aroura said, it is not a NEED. I do not NEED to run my dog in agility trials, I do it because BOTH of us have a great deal of fun at it. Perhaps you like to hang out at home with your dog or play with it in the yard and not compete in any way, fine by me!
Agility is fun for the dogs I am not saying showing your dog is evil or anything but this whole this dog is so grand because of the way he looks seems silly to me. What is the dog really getting out of it? Yes they love being with you no matter what you do but how much fun is it really?
Because if no one cared, if breeding stock was simply based on the dogs left intact not necessarily the actual best representatives of the breed, we might see more average or even mediocre dogs being bred. Of course purebred dogs have their problems, I for one agree with keeping them intact for MOST conformation showing. Most if not all Veterans classes allow spayed bitches and neutered dogs. Conformation showing BY DESIGN is to evaluate BREEDING stock. If you do not like that game, by all means do not play it.
What does that have to do with whether the dog is neutered or not. If the neutered dog is the best looking and well bred what do they care if his little boys are cut off or not. If someone is not planning to breed thier dog one way or another there won't be puppies anyway so why would they care about that. And another thing how do they verify that a female has been spayed or not.
NOT ALWAYS TRUE. There are studies that indicate that early neutering contributes to a disruption in long bone growth. Those same hormones that can be problematic also contribute to a dog growth, both physical and mental. My Jesse was neutered at 6 months, he is taller than all of his littermates but the bone in his leg is moderately thinner. As a pet/companion dog, not an issue. As an obedience dog, not an issue. As an agility dog, perhaps an issue. His lighter bone structure may have contributed to a problem in his shoulders and back, the reason he was retired from agility at a younger age than other Belgians I have read about. If I had wanted a 'serious' working dog, might well have been an issue. If I choose to get another male puppy, I will wait to neuter him until he has reached his full physical growth.
This would be a case of weighing the pros and cons. What are the benefits of neutering over not neutering. Is having the fastest dog out there worth the increased chances of,marking, aggression, wandering, cancers, and prostate problems.
 18. I don't get this whole need to show a dog. What to show how pretty he is? Just the fact that they don't let you neuter the dog makes me sick. What do they care if you are going to breed the dog or not. The fact is that a dog that is neutered is healthier and happier in the long run. If you make sure that he is neutered before the age of 6 months he won't reach sexual maturity and you will have a much better dog all round.
 19. Wow! that is scary. Our dogs seem to always lost their collars when playing. Odd huh? One will come into the room naked and I have to go looking for it. They are the kind with the plastic snap clip like was said before so I guess if pulled hard enough they will bust open. Could you just lead them into the back yard with a regular collar?
 20. Well the only one of my dogs that may have an issue is Toto and the pup isn't here yet so I am trying to get all the information to stop him from being jealous. And if he is jealous to know immediately how to help the situation.
 21. Gee whiz what are the odds. I just happened to be looking up information on jealous dogs and ended up on this site. I have been to petfinder too are they somehow related because there seems to be so many of the same people on both boards.
