  1. When looking at nutritional info on labels whats better? I have Mia (16 week old yorkie) and Bentley (2 year old maltese) ,she's on Nutro puppy and he eats Nutro adult and Natural Balance. I can't keep them out of each others food and after reading another post about them not really needing "puppy formulas" I'm kind of wanting to only buy 1 food. I don't want Bentley getting fat eating the puppy food. The reason he's on a blend of the Nutro and Natural balence is because I was trying to phase him off Nutro and I was mixing the 2 . I'm looking at the protein, fat and fiber on the 3 foods and I want whats best for the 2 of them. Help! I don't know what to look for. Protein Fat Fiber 26 12 5 Nutro puppy 21 12 5 Nutro Lamb and Rice adult 23 13 3 Dick Van Patton's Natural Balance. I know other things are important in there too, but I just dont know which to go with. I think the vet was clueless. He didn't recommend any brands said they were all fine......... and he would rather my older dog eat the puppy formula than the puppy eat the adult formula. Which would be the all around better choice for the 2 dogs?
  2. I was going to name her Ellie or Kylie but it seemed to confuse Bentley and he would turn and look at me everytime I said it, I think he was picking up the "ley" sound so we decided to name her Mia, I'll have to get my husband to help me post a picture. Hate to admit this but I don't know how. I have been very busy with this new baby, I like to really stay on top of the housebreaking part and I'm spending lots of time taking her out to potty. She was pad trained but I don't like the idea of the pads. I feel that it's just giving them the ok to potty inside. She's doing great! The breeder microchipped her for me and she has had most of her shots. The vet checked her and she's in very good health. She seems to have a sweet nature. Bentley seems to enjoy her more each day but he draws the line at bedtime and doesn't want her on my bed(he sleeps with me) so Mia is sleeping with my 16 yearl old son.
  3. I got my yorkie baby last night, she's 13 weeks old and weighs about 2 and 1/2 pounds. Still cant' decide on a name but will try to come up with one today. She's so cute and Bentley has done fine with her (I was worried about that).
  4. Can't use Reagan, Have another granddaughter named that. I think I have narrowed it down tothe following. (for today, could change again) Still looking for ideas. I go to see her Thursday night. Hope all goes well. Olivia Peyton Annabelle Krissy Cassie Marlee
  5. Think I'll add Marley, Ellie and Simone to my list. Can't use Lea, Rayn, Hayley, I have grandkids named Ryanne and Bailey and a niece named Leah so those are too close. Keep the ideas coming. Thanks
  6. I'm going to look at a female yorkie pup this week. I need some ideas for a name, tell me some of your favorites. I'll list some I'm tossing around. Let me know of any you strongly like or dislike. Still need new ideas too. Kylie Asa Peyton Mia Annabelle Nina Bonnie Olivia Zoe (I love this but wonder if when telling a dog "No" if it's to similar sounding)
  7. Bentley is a 2 year old 7 pound maltese and is very spoiled. I have wanted a second dog for over a year now and have been in contact with 2 yorkie breeders for about 10 months now. I have been waiting for a "pet quality" female. One of the breeders emailed me that she has a darling 12 week old female with a slight underbite and she will not be kept for show. I'm excited but when it gets down to it I'm worried that Bentley could be jealous and miserable with a new dog added to the house. On the other side I think it would be wonderful for him to have a companion while I work. Also thinking that a playmate would help keep him happy and healthy. I would certainly crate the new pup as I did Bentley those first few month. Just have second thought jitters. Just never had 2 at the same time.
  8. I have never had 2 at the same time. Is it better ? Are the dogs happier? Does it always work out? I have been thinking about adding a second but at times I get a little worried that there could be lots of jealousy. So as a rule what do you think?
  9. I'm a Bernese Mountain Dog too! The description pretty much fits me to a T.
  10. Bentley throws up the yellow foam (and yes it stinks) ever so often. I think he just has a sensitve tummy and if he gets a hold of someones scraps he get a little sick. He was pretty bad one day and acting listless and not drinking water so I was affraid he would get dehydrated. I took him in, they had me put him on boiled rice and baby food, those chicken sticks finger food. He was also put on some antibiotics. But if Miles is acting fine other than the yellow foam, maybe just a sensitive tummy.
  11. Bentley is worth far more than I could ever pay as are my kids or any other family members, we could be talking millions here and how many of us have an unlimited source money? Anyway I would hope that if someone were to find him that they would return him out of the kindness of their heart and not hold him for ransome. I would do my best to aquire as much money as possible to meet their demands. I wouldn't except a reward to return something that belongs to someone else. The reward is how the good deed makes you feel inside.
  12. So sorry to hear this. Wish I could help. :(
  13. I think you are suppose to use one big enough for the them to stand and turn around in. This keeps them from going potty in the crate. But when I got Bentley and put him in the small crate he freaked out. I had a medium size crate from the sheltie I had before getting Bentley. I decided to try it out and he did fine in it. I wouldn't leave him outside unsupervised or with the bigger dogs, you just never know. Bentley NEVER goes outside without me, these little ones can be attacked by larger animals, squeeze thru the fence, etc. Anyway as far as the crate goes I veiwed it more like a safe place for Bentley when I was away. He sleeps with me so I didn't need to put him in it at night. He stayed in it while I was at work. They are great for housebreaking and keeping them safe.
  14. Always on the leash, for his safety. He loves his leash and gets excited because that means hes going on a "W A L K" I had started spelling it because it gets too excited and now the little stinker knows what I mean when I spell it. He's so smart  Bentleythewonder dog can spell!
  15. As long as life and memory last, We will remember thee.
  16. 100% of the time. Bentley never goes out without me , I bought 4 little plastic garden shovels and have 1 in each corner of my yard. We have an alley and a drainage ditch behind our home so I toss it as soon as he goes. Even though it's little, I still don't want it stepped in and tracked inside. I have grandkids that play in the back and they don't watch where they step. Also like my backyard looking perfect!
  17. Both are sweet but the black one..........just looking into his eyes would talk me into it. Couldn't turn down those soulful eyes. Very sweet. Take both! :D
  18. He's soooooo......CUTE! I work with a guy that named his dog Finley.
  19. Sometimes if a male dog has been neutered they continue to squat to pee. Mine is almost 2 years olds and doesn't hike his leg. Can't wait to see a picture.
  20. Bentley has a problem with begging. I started out firm about this and then my little grandkids would either drop food or give him food and now I have a problem. He has become a pest about it.
  21. I just found a little male pappy on petfinder this morning. I emailed her for info. wish I could get him for you.
  22. 1. aggression (not good in a pet) 2. sociability 3. willingness
