Is Guy home yet????
-
Sorry, that probably didn't encourage you much.

Sorry about your bad neighbor. :( Reminds me of a lady I know that had such a bad neighbor they SHOT her dog!   Felt sooooo sorry for her and you!

I was wondering what everyone feeds and how much it costs. Thanks!
-
 Unfortunatly, Winnie likes chocolate chips :o Actually anything! Except lettuce by it's self!

I set up my agility couse again! (just moved a couple weeks ago) Winnie sped through it like a border collie! I included a table in my course. Does anyone know how to get a dog to weave faster? That's Winnie's hardest obstacle. She doesn't like it that much, she thinks it's to much work!
-
Oh, yeah I feed twice a day also.
-
If Winnie had unlimited access to food, she'd never stop eating!!!

Reedpuppy, How old is your puppy? You shouldn't be jumping a puppy over something higher than their elbows. Also, how can you have made an A frame by just tipping two boards together? I think the A frame is one of the hardest things in agility to make and tipping two boards together doesn't work. Did you support them and screw them together? Did you put something on for traction?

I don't know if your talking about running on or near a road, but BC's like to chase cars if they don't have any cows or sheep to chase.

I haven't seen a Pom do agility, but I have seen them do flyball! Very quick.

Thanks much!

Trinity, how do you look up a dog to see what it's hips are rated? I know how to read a OFA number and know, but does OFA have a website? Thanks!
-
I've made mine. I have the teeter-totter, chute, weave poles, jumps, and tunnel. I was lucky I found my tunnel at a garage sale for something like $3. Winnie and I are thinking of joining an agility club, but don't want to work her that hard with her bad hips.

Carrying a 5 month old Lab up 4 flights of stairs
yellowlabsrule replied to eggrolyn1223's topic in Everything about dogs
You need to wait till she (Is Duck a she?) is fully grown. Going up and down stairs can do something to the growth plates I think. So I wouldn't let her go up and down all those stairs, but I would work on a few with some doggie treats. -
I voted NO to the poll, because our breeder bred two dog with only fair hips, and we didn't know any better so we bought Winnie who has hip dysplasia (sp?). We could have sent her back, but who would after two years!?!? By the way, I found Winnie's full blood sister (only born a year later) on the internet!!! So exciting! Bad thing is there breeding her :-? but they say she has good hips sooooooooo. Anyway here's the site with her! http://members.tripod.com/jeotto97436/index.htm Her name is Honey bear under labradors. We might go see her! YEA! Anyway just thought you might enjoy.

28% of dalmatians have either bilateral or unilateral deafness. The more white a dal has the more chance of being deaf. Another heath problem is urinary stones that usually occur more often in males than females.

"Several years ago (before I had dogs) there was a fellow here who drowned trying to save his dog. At the time I thought: "What an idiot". Now I think "That's me". I would die trying to save my boys, and I know that my wife would as well. " Can't most dogs swim???

I know of two. One is at www.dogchow.com then click on breed selector. Another is at www.puppyfinder.com and click on breed selector also. Remember, the breeds these things give you are only suggestions, you still need to do your homework, etc. A good website to see the goods and bads of a breed is www.yourpurebredpuppy.com Good luck!

So sorry your day was stressful. :( If Winnie was having surgery I'd be extremely stressed. How did the surgery go? I hope it went well.

Jack Russell or Parson Russell?
yellowlabsrule replied to yellowlabsrule's topic in Jack Russell Terriers
I found this on the AKC website under meeting highlights for October. The name of the Jack Russell Terrier is to be changed to the Parson Russell Terrier effective April 1, 2003 as requested by the Jack Russell Terrier Association of America, which is to become the Parson Russell Terrier Association of America. This name change is going to screw everyone up! (Including me!) Do you think this is going to give the backyard breeders more or less business??? Hopefully not more!!!!! :o -
An excerpt from the Magazine Dog World The energetic little dog you know as the Jack Russell Terrier is going by a new name come April 1. And it's no April Fools' joke! The AKC Board of Directors approved the new breed name to be the Parson Russell Terrier. Breeders hope the name change will eliminate confusion over two general sizes of Russell Terriers: the short-legged, long bodied dog popular in film and TV, and the longer-legged, traditional Parson Russell Terrier, a working terrier. What other russell terrier????? What are they talking about? Someone please help!
