Questions about coat patterns (kind of about breeding)

Sorry don't know anything  but I will try to find something and will pm someone more knowledgeable. -
How can people be so irresponsible!!!!!!! Gives breeders a bad name!

A BLOND AND BRINDLE LAB???!!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HOW DOES THE AKC LET PEOPLE LIKE THIS IN????!!!! Speaking of which, my brother's friends had a hunting lab they were going to breed (I know, I know!) and some AKC registered dog trotted over to their house and bred her! (not sure which dog found which) MAKES ME SOOOOOOOOOO MAD!
-
What did it's tail look like? Tails tell a lot in the lab breed. If it was curving up, it was probably a mix. If it had a thick, straitish tail I might be a purebred. Jacksmom and others, do you think it could have been stunted??? Bob s, how old was this dog? Don't let someone fool you into thinking they have invented a new breed!
-
Tom and Josilou, Did you figure it out yet??? If so please let us know.
-
This does NOT sound good, I would take her in ASAP!
-
We go out with Winnie (my lab) and our horses and one time we encountered rattlers, but luckily Winnie didn't get bit.
-
What do you do when they get bit? Take them to the vet, but what if your out in the forest or something?

What Would You Do If Your Pet Was Missing?
yellowlabsrule replied to Carolk9s's topic in Everything about dogs
If Winnie got lost I'd go crazy! I'd also do what all you already said. -
I think most dogs are stolen for drug testing (whatever they call it) and it's horrible. Were any of these dogs microchipped or tattooed??? Did you notify the authorities? Really sorry about your dog :( Keep us posted on what's going on.

Hobbit, I now understand. The AKC IS NOT perfect, but maybe if we tell them (email, letters etc.) they will change. I don't quite see why they have to change the breed to show either. The only thing I can think of is going around all over to shows they couldn't take a working dog like a border collie because it would go crazy being cooped up all the time.

Great picture and story! Some friend's of ours had boers and they were kindy mean when they wanted their food! Pushy too!
-
WOW that is a BIG difference between the working vs. show!!! Question... do the working dog is Australia encounter poison snakes that often?? Just wondering.
-
Yeah, english bred labrador retrievers are usually shorter and stockier, but not 14 inches! :o
-
How horrible!     Hope he gets better.
-
I don't know anything  , but it almost sounds like the dog ate some kind of poison??? Don't know though.
-
Sending it now!, thanks again sashagirl! :D
-
sashagirl, If I send you my picture do you think you could resize it for me to? I can't get it to work. :(

That show is so sad, but really happy when they save the animals, I love it. I saw that show a couple weeks ago 2 out of 13 puppies surviving, it broke my heart. Anyone see the one about the rescued animals with their new lease on life? If so how was it?? Wish I could've seen it!

Jacsmom, you weren't rude at all! I thank you for your input, but I do already have a lab so it isn't a first dog. I have considered a shelter dog, and if I could get two more dogs I'd get one. But, I'm really a show conformation person, that's why I decided to get an AKC registered dog. Hobbit, I don't agree about the AKC being an evil empire. I'm pretty sure that I've decided on a lab after I saw a old english sheepdog get 4th at agility on tv! It's not just speed, but accuracy. Jacsmom, I won't take the breeding thing lightly, I love the breed and only wan't to improve it and not harm it. That's why we spayed the lab we have now (Winnie!) because she had bad hips  . My dream is to see a lab win westminster!

I agree with bk_blue. Temperment is VERY important. Also, if they've fought before they're probably going to do it again. So, as much as I don't want to say this they probably should euthanized them if they have a previous fighting record, but I don't know how many pits have previously fought, so I'm not sure. About what percent of pits have fought before in their lifetime? A majority? Or not?

Puppy seems to be antisocial and growls at strangers!
yellowlabsrule replied to a topic in Upbringing
I think it means when you bring her up to your level, she thinks she has as much power as you. Also when she growls at someone, I would tell her no in a low voice and hold her snout so she associates the no with her growling.
