1. I know you guys aren't meaning to be mean, and I know your doing it for Duck...my dad "thinks: he is a dog person...I've often asked why he doesn't ever touch Duckie....he told me he's gonna wait until she's older and less active...I don't think that's a real reason...meaning he doesn't really care about dogs..and I WOULD give Duck away to a BETTER home if there WAS a better home, but since there aren't, she's stuck with me.After I posted on the last one, I started trying to get her to calm down.I put her on a DOWN, and then tried to give her a treat...she tried grabbing, I said NO, didn't let her have it, and kept moving my hand when she grabbed...and she started getting the idea that she was supposed to "take" it nicely, not GRAB.So that's probably out of the way ...for now, at least.Nipping is a little less, since I ignored her when she nipped me, and gave her attention when she was calm.I did this thing where I gave her a big treat and started petting her, so it's like she's getting rewarded for being still while being petted...and I played with her for about 30 minutes in the yard...ran around in circles....kinda weared her out....gave her a pig ear....then training...then I just sat on the floor with her and petted her...she was all nice and quiet, lying down and all..TOMMORROW is FRIDAY!!!!!That means LOTS more time for playing with her...I already planned what to do tommorow: First thing when I get back from school:play with her/walk for 20 minutes. Then, feed .Then, back to the yard to pee and poo and a little more playtime. Then, 10 minutes training time(just reviewing all the stuff:sit, stay, come, down, beg, jump, and a new one- crawl). Then she'll be in the livingroom with me when I'm using the computer and doing homework. Saturday:Breakfast.BIG walk in the park first thing in the morning. Then, when she's all tired out, to the pet store for a bigger crate(she can barely fit through the doorway now), food, treats, and all that stuff. When we get home, a little playtime, then some crate training. After that, LUNCH.potty break.playtime.10-minute training.computer-study time(for me), and plain resting time for Duck. After that, potty break, playtime, rest, postty break, playtime, DINNER, potty break, playtime.WOW, the day's OVER.well, maybe not THAT fast. Sunday:something similar to Sat., except my friends are coming over to play basketball and Duck will be out in the yard with us(I'll be careful she won't get hit by the ball  ) ANd then, MONDAY.AGAIN. :(
2. I just had a LONG playtime/walk thing with Duck, but in the yard she was always running around me in circles, and then she'd jump and bite me! And then she'd crawl between my legs and lie down...should I praise her when she queits down and just ignore her when she's biting me???(It really hurts, and she almost ripped my shirt)Or should I hold her muzzle like rowie-the-pooh told me?Saying No doesn't do any good for her.
3. WHOOPS!!I thought this was under the problems... post. Sorry.I'll just copy it over there

5. My mom doesn't live with me, and my dad goes to work until 5, then goes to computer classes..Duck is too small right now to walk up and down the stairs...I think she'd fall and break her legs...nope, not taking the chance. She is 4 months old(about). Thanks for all the advice, but I gotta go to school now, can't talk anymore..BYE!! :(
6. Duck doesn't really like any toys....well, kind of.She LOVES pig ears(but she gets tired of them if she gets more than 1 a day)....she likes her chilly bone too..Actually, she doesn't have a lot of toys because my mom doesn't let me buy them...she says I can make a rope for her..would a plain stuffed animal(for humans) be okay for her as long as there are no little parts??Cuz she seems to like soft stuff...cloth mostly.I told my mom to get one of those vermont fleece toys that have a squeaker inside, but my mom said it was a waste of money, so she didn't get it...she doesn't really like Duck and can't think of a reason why Duck should be spoiled(like all other dogs) 8) I've never tried anything like Kongs(mainly because my mom doesn't approve), but I don't think they would work either.....can anyone think of a toy that Duck would just LOVE?That lasts too..
7. Well, my dog hates the crate cuz she's in it all day long, but she never gets out in there because she did something wrong..never put a dog in a crate if he/she just did something bad
8. Ok...the thing at the end is supposed to be [/img], not [img]
9. Don't get mad at me for this post..well, fine be mad I don't care..I just want my questions answered. Duck is in her crate most of the day because I'm at school. When I bring her out after school, she gets really excited and jumpy. Then she starts nipping me when I touch her, even when she's sitting. And when I'm doing my homework, I give her a pig ear so she'll be busy. How do I keep her busy without giving her the whole bag of pig ears???Cuz I want her with me but then she keeps doing stuff like jumping on my chair, so what can I do to keep her occupied?(Toys don't work for some reason)Or do I just need to get her some more excercise? And she hates her crate so how do I make her like it even if she's in there for more than half the day?
10. CUTE DOG!!!DId you think of a name for her yet?I think anything that starts with a S would fit her.
11. I agree with the spay and nueter campaign thingy but not with deep's gruesome add thing.I don't think we should put gruesome stuff on commercials...but maybe put one of those sound thingys from the shelter...you know the one where you hear the sound of the dog when it's about to be euthanized..that would be good..make an imprint on peoples minds.I dunno, some people just don't really care about animals...they don't have the same fellings for them as we do.Heartless people. There's a difference between a non-animal lover that would help if they saw an ad like that, and a non-animal lover that wouldn't even care if they saw an ad like that. But having it only in the US wouldn't do any good, because there are lots of other dogs that aren't spayed and nuetered in other countries(for example, Taiwan). They don't even think about what happens to the puppies they breed, they just do it and do it every time the female goes in heat. You guys should come and visit taiwan sometime and see for yourself...nobody would believe it if they didn't really see it.
12. Well, I read at http://www.k9web.com/dog-faqs/breeds/labradors.html#faq that it's called butt-tucking(it's at the bottom).I just wanted to make sure that was right or if any of you that had dogs doing this also.Mocha used to do this also, but only in the backyard. And did your dogs ever grab treats like Duck does?
13. I was wondering why Duck stops whatever she's doing and runs around with her tail tucked under her bottom. Is it cuz she needs to run around or is she just gone hyper? And Duck isn't taking treats properly, especially when I give her a treat for staying. She stays in one place, and when I say DONE, she comes running to me, and I hold out the treat, and she just grabs(bites actually) it from my hand, and she made me bleed today. She was grabbing the treat and then the inside of my nails started bleeding.I know she can't go on like this, and I really need help on her taking treats.I don't want to delay giving her treats because then she'll think she's not being rewarded for it.HELP plz
14. GOSH, if megdog has bred dogs before and knows all about breeding, why is she/he asking if the bitch will know when the time is right?I'm not saying that he/she shouldn't ask questions, but isn't it kinda weird if somebody's already bred before but doesn't know an answer to one of the most basic questions?
15. OH!!I've never seen a dog so comfortable with a cat!!!Wish the cats in our backyard were like that!!!So cute!!!GREAT PIC!!Thanks!
16. Well I don't know about these things cuz my dogs were never very strong chewers.I had asked my mom to get Duck a Galileo thingy and some other stuff but she said she didn't buy some of them because they were too expensive.I wasn't mad, and she said the stuff she DID buy was 50 dollars in al!!! :o :o :o :o Why can't they be cheaper?I'm just wondering if I just so happened to ask for expensive stuff, so I'm asking: How much are the toys you get for your dogs? Are there any really long lasting, fun, and cheap toys that you know of?My mom got a chilly bone and it was expensive....but I needed that cuz Duck loves eating ice cubes except they're really messy. My mom said I can't keep getting stuff that's so expensive, cuz we're not rich or anything. But Duck just can't survive without toys!!And I wish my dad would just stop buying all this computer stuff for us, cuz we don't even want it!!He just bought this REALLY expensive laptop(it's the newest) for my sister, and he's always buying computer games for me, which I don't even use.I told him I don't like playing computer games, but he said I have to like them or something.I have a really weird dad.He tries to buy stuff I don't want and doesn't let me buy stuff I want. He's really computer crazy while my sister and I are dog crazy. He spends ALL my family's money on computers!!!And we don't even need all that junk!!!I know some people dream to have those computer crazy dads, but I wish he would save his money for more useful stuff.UGH..
17. Oh, it's probably because we have different dogs, but I tried it with my Akita and it never worked. :-?
18. OMG YOU SCARED ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I thought....you know what I thought.....OH..what a relief!!That happened too, when we took Mocha to be spayed. We took her in the morning and went to pic her up after school.I was soo worried something would go wrong..Yea, Mocha was usually really hyper in the car, but when she came back, she just lay on my lap like a mature dog(LOL, she was only a puppy)
19. Yea, that's what I'll do, but how would I take them if they don't even let me touch them?
20. Well, I take back the thing about about taking a long time to tame the cats. We've been putting plates of food out for them everyday(and clean water) and now when I take Duck outside the cats are not afraid of us unless I get too close.Duck was standing nose to nose to the white one a while ago, but I'm not going to let that happen again, cuz the other cats aren't as friendly as the white one. They even just walked forward to smell her.Good thing Duck didn't try to bite them or anything. She was drinking the water that was meant for them, and then the white one came to touch noses. :P I hope the others will be friendlier next time. The white one is way nicer.I almost got to touch her cuz she wasn't afraid of me.They used to run just at the sight of me, now they just lie in the sun while I play basketball!Cool huh?
21. LOL!I gave half of my lunch to Duck yesterday(special treat cuz she was so good that day).I ate the rice and she ate the meat!
22. OH!!Cute!!and sad!!Your such a kind person to adopt a dog with problems from the shelter!Good luck!
23. Horsefeathers, you're going to hate me for this, but I USED TO hate poodles.Because I thought they were ugly and just not likeable. Now I like them, but still not as much as some others(sry). Now I don't care if the dog looks really ugly, as long as it's a dog.
