3. OMG!! :o :o :( :( Soo sorry
4. The thing I was getting to was that Duck wouldn't be so bored because she'll have a lot more attention there.I'm gone for school from Monday-Friday.
5. And where could I take Duck to get microchipped?Do they do that at the vet's?Or do I have to buy one of those needle-inserting things? And would they automatically register her number?
6. I just asked Duck's vet when I could bring her in to get spayed and they said that we have to wait until she's 8 MONTHS :o :o!!!I thought dogs were supposed to have their first heat at about 7 months and be spayed at 6 months!!!And I thought we could do it earlier!!!I wonder how the dogs here get spayed at 8 months earliest?
7. Of course I AM going to spay..just wondering though
8. Does anybody have any idea what kind of toy I could make?Cuz I asked my mom to buy some more toys and she told me to find ways of making them instead of buying them...using plain rope for a chew toy, empty milk jug...etc.Or cheap stuff?
9. I asked the trainer what they taught for the police dog thing, and he said something like guard(guard an item and don't move or something), patrol, search(smell somebody or something), and attack..it's all fine except the attack command...I'll ask him if Duck can skip that....I was nervous at the thought of Duck attacking someone..
10. We just found a trainer/boarding place that's in the country...30 minute drive from here.I was just wondering if sending a dog to a place for training is good...since there are no interactive training programs here, it's either that, or training by myself. We looked at the dogs there...they are kept in clean living conditions, with water(they check)..they are fed at scheduled times according to the age of the dog.The dogs there are let out to supervised play on scheduled times and also a time where they just stay in the kennel runs. They train general good manners, obedience, agility stuff, and police dog stuff(I was thinking about only doing the forst two, but the whole thing is together, can't do one without the other).I asked the trainer a lot of questions...the techniques(no hitting or abuse and everything), what they teach, etc etc. They use Chinese commands. If we do it, Duck would stay there for a week, and we would bring her back 2 days each week, so about 5 days staying there. They feed Pro Choice, or Pro something.Anyways, the dogs staying there look healthy and well cared for. Most of them were German Shepherds, there was a Pit, a Golden, a Lab,3 huskies and 2 Rotties. Please, everybody post what you think, I nedd EVERYONE's opinion, whether good or bad.If you have a question that wasn't mentioned in my post, ask me, and if I don't know, I'll call and ask the trainer.I need to make a decision by tommorrow morning.
11. Yea, I'm going to get Duck microchipped.I don't know about the tag thing yet.And another thing, most people here have the opposite idea of spaying. Most people I talked to(even the vets) say spaying will shorten a dog's life..but you guys say it will make the dog live longer...?
12. Is microchipping better than tatooing?I can't find any place that sell tags here....so I have to do either microchipping or tattoing for Duck....and would it be better for her to be spayed earlier than six months?
13.
Those are really cute you guys! When i get older i'll have to fight with my shar pei to see who has the most wrinkles, I think i will let her win!
So funny!!This is off the subject, but who exactly is mary? You guys talk about her like she has some disease or something....?Guess I wasn't here when all that happened
14. MOCHA??????!!!!!!!!!?????????That was my Akita's name!!!!!!!!! :o :o :o :o Sorry....I didn't say you couldn't use it...it's just kind of weird to hear it...
15. Angelfire and expage are also free http://www.angelfire.com http://www.expage.com
16. Ok...that's exactly the opposite of my problem...you want to give the dog away, but the other people are telling you not to....I DON'T want to give Duck away, but they're telling me to do that... :-?
17. Just checked back to see what happened after I left(I figured it would be a happy ending), and I just HAD to see THIS:
yeah she was here before you and I think right after mary, god I'm glad that little era is over
Yes, I know you hate me  but I don't really care 8)
18. All I'm saying is bye, and I know what you'll think:Oh woohoo!!!That stupid troll egg is leaving!!!There'll be no more stupid annoying people that don't listen on this forum anymore!!!
19. I guess you guys will never understand, because you don't live here.I don't blame you for that.Even if I gave Duck away to somebody in the country, she still wouldn't get all the exercise she needs.....true, the dogs aren't kep in cages in the country-- they are tied on heavy chains near the back of the house. The thing is, big dogs like Labradors just aren't kept as companion pets here...they are strictly guard dogs....barking when a stranger comes...etc.i know what you guys will say...so?AT least she'lll be in the COUNTRY!!But that's the country you know. The country here is just like a city, only without high buildings. My friend's dog just died from the poisoning chemicals used for the farm plants. The only real dog pets are little tiny dogs like maltese and poodles. It's ok if you understand....I'll just stop asking you questions that I know will get you guys worked up.If I was living in the US, I would do what you say right away. But maybe you aren't putting yourslef in my place, in Taiwan, and trying to make decisions for me without thinking. If you guys won't help me with my problems without thinking up more problems, I guess I'll just have to figure things out myself...I guess I'll never belong on this forum since I live in this bad dog country.
20. First if all, Duck's not going to be "in the pee".It's a tray thing under the cage. And she's not going to be caged up all her life...I'm thinking if the housekeeper can let her out when I'm gone....she DID bring her down from the fourth floor of our house...what's to stop her letting a dog out when she's already in the yard?I dunno how she'll get back in the crate though..there's actually no one else who can do this...all the poeple I know would either not own a dog or else use a punishment method on her...they would hit her if she even nipped them lightly.Taiwan IS hot, but it's winter right now, and she's gonna be housetrained before spring..I know THAT.The thing is, I'm waiting for my two-week New Year break where I can stay home ALL day and play with her, look after her and all.Saturday and Sunday ONLY doesn't really work.My friends dog(I'm not trying to say I want to be like that) stays in a cage all day(full-grown dog) and even when they are home. They only let him out when they feel like it and want to play with him...
21. Ok guys...I'm going to aska question...I want an answer...If you can give one....you can be rude if you want, maybe I deserve it... :-? I came home from school today to find that my grandma had told the housekeeper to bring Duck to another crate outside.....and I was MAD.Because my grandma(I'm sounding unrespectful, I know, but that's what happens to anybody near my grandma) did not ask for my permission for Duck(she's literally my little girl) to be taken and put in a crate outside..!!!!!! But then I thought of this "possible half-solution" to our problem.Just asking everybody's opinion if I do this: Duck can stay in the big crate(it's a little bigger than the right size for a full-grown Great Dane, kind of like a play pen) when I'm not at home for a long time(school time), and when I come back home, I'll feed her, take her for her long playtime/walk, then bring her with me inside the house until I go to sleep, and then she'll go in the smaller crate for the night.I don't want her to go in the big crate for the night because I don't like the thought of her staying all alone outside... :( , and she can stay in the bigger crate so she'll have more room to move around.I know you have a question now...maybe somebody's going to get rude here.I want to stop housetraining until Duck's older, because there's no point in trying at all right now when she can't hold her bladder long enough...and by then she'll be more calm(I hope) and big enough to walk down the stairs. For now, I'll just take her outside(when I'm home, of course) every 2 hrs for potty, and when I'm not home, she can just pee into the newspaper pan under the crate(it's actually a cage).I know it will make housetraining harder later on, but there's really no point in doing it now if it won't work.
22. She's still too small to go down..but she can go up..only 2-3 steps. She just runs up realy fast and sometimes trips..They don't sell those pens here...
23. Well, for what cairnmom said: we were with the paper thing when Duck was really small, but then the Lab-size thing came in mind..Maybe she would stay in the bathroom...I was going to let her stay in the yard but since it's part garage, that WOULD NOT be okay. The door would open, Duck OUT, door close, DUck byebye. :( NEVER.Unless we could find a pen thing and fence the grass part for her.But then the cats would come and bully her. They are MEAN!!Yes, that is a long time to go to school, but it's life here.Actually, I'm counted as a pretty lucky one, since most of my friends have after-school classes, and they stay from after school till 9 or 11 PM.Then they come home and do hw and study...what a life.American students take their lives for granted....you guys would die if you came here..going home at 3:30 is just heaven-on-earth. :)
