Guest Anonymous Posted November 23, 2004 Posted November 23, 2004 There was an article in my local paper today about "designer dogs". While, I may be biased because I completely disagree with the whole "doodle practice" it seems to me there was also a lot of factual errors in the article. Anyway, one of the things the article states is that poodles have an undercoat which cuts down on the shedding. Now, I KNOW labs have an undercoat and those dogs shed like mad. But do poodles even HAVE an undercoat? I looked up the standard and don't see mention of it. Thanks!!! Quote
zheelah Posted November 23, 2004 Posted November 23, 2004 No they don't, they have a single coat that constanrly grows like hair Quote
candy722 Posted December 12, 2004 Posted December 12, 2004 I heard most dogs do have under coat. Quote
puttin510 Posted February 26, 2005 Posted February 26, 2005 I have two poodles. Not ever year heard of an undercoat on a poodle. But they do have two types of hair on them. The soft hair and the coarse hair that helps it hold its form. [/img] Quote
